CALL ME HOME
She put away the dishes
and left the sink light on
Her tired eyes would need the light
between now and the dawn

She settled into her favorite chair
a blanket upon her lap
Surveyed the room, breathed a sigh
And began her daily chat

"God," she said "I'm tired from life
and I just want to go.
So anytime you're ready, Lord
You can call me home

"Just please wait 'til the lilacs bloom
It's my favorite scent, you know
I'd also like to see the rosebuds
open 'fore I go

"And let me hear the sparrow's song
just a few times more
And crickets chirping in the night
A sound that I adore

"I surely wouldn't want to miss
the autumn colors bright
And the sparkle of a virgin snow
on a crisp winters night

"And let me see the fullness
and the brilliance of the moon...
Dear God, just forget I even asked
I'm not ready -- it's too soon."
