CARNIVALICIOUS
Spinning lights, colors bright
Standing out against the night
Around in a circle, back and forth
A pendulum, a wheel, a carousel horse

The sensory overload has only begun
A thousand aromas blend into one
A savory ambrosia of flavors to come
A soft breeze carries the smell of fun

A mixture of sound is all around
Calliope music gives life to the town
Chatter and laughter and squeals abound
A whir of motors in the background

Sweet cotton candy melts on your tongue
It almost tastes like bubblegum
A giant elephant ear to munch
Tasty and chewy, with a sugary crunch

People of every age, shape and size
Come to enjoy the games and the rides
Families, young loves, and closest friends
All mingled together, a human blend

The ferris wheel lifts you high in the air
for an overall view of the carnival fair
It seems you could fly away, right from your seat
each time you start down from the circular peak

The Scrambler and Tilt-A-Whirl whip you around
Some of the rides spin you upside down
With windblown hair and a tickle in your gut
You stumble off the ride, down the ramp, like a drunk

Whether mild or wild, you don't want it to end
So you get back in line and go on it again
Eventually, though, you run out of dough
That's when you know it's time to go home

With a few souvenirs and some memories to keep
You snuggle into bed and drift off to sleep
Some dreams have come true, and even some wishes
This night has truly been carnivalicious
