DR. SEUSS's LAWN
My lawn has grown for days and days
"The grass is too tall" my neighbors say
They worry it makes them look bad
My growing lawn makes them so mad

But I don't listen to what they say
I want my yard to look this way
Besides, I'm lazy -- I'd rather play
I will not mow the grass today

See how the wind makes it wave
Grass was not meant to be shaved
It's beauty is most clearly seen
When it is tall and lush and green

The neighbors gather in the street
They point and whisper when they meet
I can guess what's being said
All my green is making them see red

They say I should get off my ass
Fire up the mower and cut the grass
But I don't care what they say
I will not mow the grass today

There's no need for them to complain
They have no right to be profane
It's not their yard -- it's my domain
From mowing I choose to abstain

Now the neighbors gather near
They're trying to nudge me out of fear
But I will not mow it if they stay
Not even if they go away

I will not mow my grass in vain
Not in the sun, not in the rain
It will remain to their disdain
I don't care if they go insane

It matters not if my neighbors hate me
Nothing they do will MOW-tivate me
I want my yard to look this way
I will not mow the grass today
