A GOOD DAD
He's as tall as an oak to the eyes of a child
He lifts you without effort to reach the sky
He'll sneak you a dollar with a wink of his eye
That's what a good dad does.

He shares words of wisdom he's learned through the years
Surrounds you with big arms to comfort your fears
Celebrates your moments of victory with cheers
That's what a good dad does.

He works hard to give you a home that is warm
Scolds you sternly to warn you from harm
Smiles big when you melt his heart with your charm
That's what a good dad does.

He shares with others the pride for his child
Loves your mother with his old-fashioned style
Can take your bad day and make it seem worthwhile
That's what a good dad does.

He's your lifelong model of what a man should be
Respects your view even when he disagrees
Bounces your children upon his knee
That's what a good dad does.

If ever you lost him, your heart would ache
But he'll always be with you, make no mistake
For the person you are is the mark that he made
That's what a good dad does.
