I'VE COME THIS FAR
Nothing seems certain anymore
on the avenue of life
As I travel the yellow brick journey
I long for the black and white

Never would I have predicted
the twisted and gnarled trails
that intersect my boulevard
and bring me to derail

Dark and narrow corridors
Dank alleyways and curves
There is no turning back allowed
Barely any room to swerve

Based on life expectancy
I'm only halfway there
With melancholy in my wake
to go forward, do I dare?

If I had known my future then
I couldn't have gone forth
Aware of what I would endure
Just to experience growth

So blind me to the future
and bind me to my dreams
Find me on a shady lane
squinting through sunbeams

The unknown is my friend, you see
when it comes to earthly tests
I've come this far on my odyssey
I'm sure I'll survive the rest
