Lily in the Morning
I squint one eye to check the time, the light of day sneaks in
I bargain for a few more zzz's and fall asleep again
In my dreamlike state I hear a sweet familiar sound
My senses slow to waken now begin to come around

An angel voice of sing-song words, a language all her own
Happily babbling in her bed, welcoming the morn
I tiptoe in to catch a glimpse of my baby girl at play
Ringlets of hair encircling, like petals, frame her face
Her widened eyes are not surpised
as she warms me with her smile
Her face glows like the risen sun
so I bask in it awhile

Each day I wake to see her
is delightful and informing
No better way to greet the day
than Lily in the morning
