LONG HARD ROAD
On a long hard road to destruction he drove
over potholes of defeat
No amount of flagging him down
would reroute him off that street

One day he reached the avenue's end
that would force him onto a path
He had no other choice right then
but to start his journey back

Divine intervention caught his attention
and saved him from being consumed
He watched as others he'd traveled with
met their sentence of doom

Spared was he from that destiny
and his blinded eyes now see
The evil decay of his former way
is no longer his routine

On a long hard road toward victory he drove
gaining strength with every mile
His demons at bay, he still struggles each day
but to fight the good fight is worthwhile
