MISPLACED FAITH
Well, now you've done it
You poured out your heart
Foolishly believing that was the right path
Now your spilled intentions
Lie puddled at my feet

You spoke of becoming a better person
But then you made it all about me
I recognize that look
Hungry eyes seeking my approval
Sucking my energy

But I won't be your motivation
Already I'm suffocating
Like a candle lacking air
My heart dims like the dying flame
The light in my eyes fades to black

You should do this ...for your own reasons
But you've mislaid your dreams
Your notions are misguided
You deem me worthy to be exalted
But I will only let you down
