Quote collection is an awarding hobby, because quotes are often gems of knowledge and insight set snugly in a few words. Other times they are quick rejoinders, insults or witticisms.
Also there is the advantage of seeming more an intellectual. Quoting something by Socrates will inevitably come in handy in an arguement. Aristotle will improve any corporate presentation, and George Washington will make you seem more believable and honest.
These are but reasons that came to me in a futile attempt to rationalize why I collect quotes, and memorize movies. Really I can't help it, so you might as well enjoy.
