Sonya

(February 5, 1994 - July 5, 1998)

Sonya was a 70 lb. purebred Chow Chow. Life wasn't good for her because she had nothing but problems. During her short life she went through two eye operations. She also had skin problems. We had to put her to sleep because she slip a disk and left her paralyzed. There wasn't a chance that she could ever walk again. We couldn't see her suffering and watching Sonya dragging her back legs. The vet also told me that she would need 24hr supervision because we would of had to squeeze her belly, when she needed to go to the bathroom. I know in my heart that she would of been unhappy because she was an active dog. She loved to play with Bear. She was a kind, gentle, and a very sweet dog.

We will never forget her and I thank god that she was a part of our lives for a short time.

Sonya's favorite past times were:
- Putting Bear in his place
- Going for car rides especially to Mc Donalds
- Chasing the cats with Bear

When looking for a dog please do some research:

Checking the parents for potential problems
When parents are not on the premises, find out where they are and please check them out.
Checking the puppy's family pedigree
Make sure there isn't no inbreeding
See if you can contact people who have bought puppies from them
If you still decide to get the puppy at least you can be prepared for any potential problems

We didn't do this with Sonya and we went through alot of heartache.

TRIBUTE TO A DOG

The one absolutely unselfish friend
that man can have in this selfish world,
the one that never deserts him,
the one that never proves
ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty.
In health and in sickness.
He will sleep on the cold ground,
where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely,
if only he may be near his master's side.
He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer;
he will lick the wounds and sores that come
in encounter with the roughness of the world.

He guards the sleep of his pauper master
as if he were a prince.
When all other friends desert, he remains.
When riches take wing and reputation falls to
pieces,
he is as constant in his love as the sun in its
journey through the heavens.
