THE JACK RUSSELL TERRIER

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG JACK RUSSELL KACI~~ The breed history is wrapped in legend. Named for PARSON JACK RUSSELL a hard-drinking, hard-riding hunter of the 1850-70s. The parson favored a dog that was bold enough to follow the fox into its earthen den but not so aggressive that it would kill the quarry. It was a flexible dog, able to maneuver in underground dens, mostly white so it could be easily seen, and of the same flamboyant character as the parson himself. Born in fox-hunting country in England, the breed has a special affinity for horses and is a superb ratter. Barns that are fortunate enough to have a Jack Russell in residence are generally free of invasion by rats, mice, woodchucks, and other pests. The breed has a size range from 10-15 inches at the withers. It can have smooth, wiry, or "broken" coat and is mostly white with black, tan, or brown markings. Ears are moderately thick with the flap tipped forward towards the front of the skull. The chest is relatively shallow and narrow, giving an athletic appearance. The rear end provides power and propulsion. The Jack Russell is a fearless, happy, alert, confident, intelligent and lively hunting dog. These qualities make him a sturdy, vigorous companion, ready to meet the world on a moment's notice. As appealing as he can be, and that is very appealing, the JACK RUSSELL is not the ideal pet for everyone. He/She has its share of terrier aggression towards other dogs and is deadly towards animals it considers to be prey. Thus cats, hamsters, gerbils, and other household pets can be in jeopardy if the dog is not supervised or confined. Furthermore, this militant streak makes it difficult to keep a Jack Russell in a home with other dogs, even others of its breed. Like most terriers, the JACK RUSSELL is a digger and a barker. However, in spite of caveats about its sometimes irascible temperament towards fellow canines and small animals, the JACK RUSSELL can be a terrific family pet. He/She has a gentle and kindly nature with people and is usually friendly with small children -- if they are well-behaved.

(Here Kitty...Kitty:)! Meowwww!)

SEAL POINT SIAMESE KAT*SUKI!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST KAT! *SIAMESE* PROFILE!~~

Is there anyone who loves Kats aka Cats:0) that has not heard of the SIAMESE? Blue (Turqoise Blue) Eyes peering out from an exotic, wedge-shaped head and the most captivating of color patterns distinguishes this extraordinary Feline. Add to this description a most affectionate nature, and one readily appreciates this breed's enormous popularity.

Having been nurtured and protected within *temple walls* for centuries, a fact documented in art and literature, the SIAMESE became known to the rest of the world through the Royal Family of SIAM. What better gift to present to a visiting dignitary than these beautiful *native* treasures? This is exactly the way this breed became known outside the borders of what we now call THAILAND.

The Royal SIAMESE began appearing in ENGLISH CAT SHOWS in the late 19th cenury, and in AMERICA in the early years of he 20th Century. SEAL POINT, the best known variety, was the color of these early examples. With their SEAL BROWN, almost black points and pale fawn bodies, these beauties were striking. While Chocolate Points, with creamy white bodies and Milk Chocolate points, did appear from time to time, it was the Blue Point that was the next color of SIAMESE to gain recognition in 1934. The Blue Point is characterized by a bluish white body with slate blue points. The Chocolate Point was recognized next and, in 1955, the Lilac Point completed the breed. The Lilac Point has pinkish gray points with a white body which makes it most ethereal and delicate in color.

Not just a color pattern, however gorgeous, the SIAMESE is a study in length. The earliest breed standards prescribe a long, wedge head and elongated body lines. The muscular, tublular body is supported by long legs and graced by a long neck and tail. The short, close, silk coat emphasizes this length of line. The long SIAMESE head is delineated by an Absolute Best Straight Profile:0), smooth wedge, large ears that complete that wedge, and deep blue, allmond shaped eyes set on a slant. Also, this *ancient breed, perhaps the oldest of all our pedigreed cats, is able to communicate like no other (and howlll;0). The SIAMESE VOICE is legendary, and they do like to *TALK*. They can be *extremely* LOUD, and sometimes it sounds like your cat is in Absolute Worse Torment, when in fact he's/she's just trying to make a *point*:0)! It's not uncommon for people on the *other end* of the telephone to ask if there is a *baby crying*:0)!

The SIAMESE of any color:0)are the quintessentail 'People Cat", for they love to be in your lap, on your bed, at your table...and most importantly....*In Your Heart*:0)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST *WOLF*:0)!~~

There was a time when WOLVES *ruled* the Northern Hemisphere. But not more.

Nowadays, WOLVES live mostly in CANADA and ALASKA.

In every WOLF PACK, there are *2* Alpha Members (TOP DOGS:0)...one Male and one Female... who RULE with an IRON *FANG*:0). ALPHA privileges include: Walking with the TAIL HELD HIGH in the air, having ALL the PUPS and EATING B 4 the other members of the PACK. A WOLF PACK consists between *7* and *29* members.

Contrary to widespread beliefs, WOLVES *do not* MATE 4 LIFE. The Packs dominate couple (Alpha Male & Female) DO form a long-term relationship. And most of the time, these two will have the Packs Pups. But, shifts in Pack *dominance*, and the occasional *death* of a spouse will lead to the remaining Alpha Member partnering up with the Beta Member (Second in the Pack to the Alpha). But all in all - WOLVES are lovingly *loyal* to ONE SPOUSE, in tood times and bad:0)!

Not all WOLVES belong to a Pack. Add five or six pups to the Pack each year and eventually the Pack overflows. While some growing pups remain with the Pack, others are *harrassed and belittled* until they can take no more and they will separate from the Pack. Becoming what is called the "LONE WOLF(s)":0( they WANDER OFF *ALONE* FOR THOUSANDS of miles and many months until one snowy morning, they round a bend and find *another* beautiful outcast WOLFY:0)! The two start their *own* pack in their *own* territory. Happiness at Last:0),:0)!!

WOLVES *howl* for a number of reasons: Excitement at Dawn, Alarm at a *possible* Intruder, Sorrow at the *death* of a Pack Mate, but in every case, HOWLING seems to be an *enjoyable* social release.

WOLVES will eat up to 20 pounds of *raw meat* at one sitting, often AFTER GOING DAYS WITHOUT *ANY* FOOD.

Thanks AUNTIE LISA & ABPets for contributing this ABSOLUTE BEST *PROFILE* OF THE ABSOLUTE BEST *WOLF*:0)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! BEAGLE *PROFILE*~~

The BEAGLE is essentially a small FOXHOUND. The coat is close, hard and of medium length. The BEAGLE is sturdy and compact and may have been begotten from *Celtic Hounds crossed with smaller French and British Hounds.

For centuries in England, BEAGLES are reported to have been hunted inpacks by Royalty. BEAGLES arrived in the Unite States during colonial times and have excelled in hunting quail, hare and pheasant in America as they did in Europe.

BEAGLES are *very happy* ABD!s; Happy to be hunting, Happy to be home, and Happy to be with their HUMAN SLAVES:0). Over vocalization and a trace of stubborness are cited by some BEAGLE SLAVES as potential concerns.

More facts about the ABD!BEAGLE will follow soon:0)!

HER HIGHNESS:0) BORZOI LADY MARY MARGARET

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! BORZOI *PROFILE*!~~

The ABD!BORZOI has gracefulness and beauty with every suggestion of speed. The body is marked by flowing lines and developed musculature. The coat is long and silky (never wooly), flat and wavy. Although white usually predominates in the coat pattern, any color is acceptable.

Speed, strength, fearlessness and coursing intelligence WERE the most valued BORZOI traits. They were used for coursing WOLVES which was a difficult and dangerous sport. WOLF-COURSING became the national sport of Russia and the Borzoi was bred for prowess in the sport. Two BORZOIS, of compatiable speed and stamina, were needed to course one WOLF, both simultaneously gripping the WOLF behind its ears, throwing it over, and pinning it to the ground. The hunter then takes over the gagging and tying.

The BORZOI, upon arrival to England, found no WOLVES to course and because of it's natural beauty became an ornament in elegant homes, and a favorite in the show ring.

The BORZOIS are beautiful and exquisite dogs but not ideal for every lifestyle. For owners with adequate space, here is a dog of unparalleled style and grace. He is even-tempered and always a perfect gentleman/lady:0).

NOTE: Thanks LISA & KIT*KATS for this ABD!*Profile* of the Gracious & Beautiful/Handsome BORZOI. Beautiful LADY MARY MARGARET'S picture above reveals this description to be true although we are happy that the BORZOI isn't coursing WOLVES anymore!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! BRITTANY *PROFILE*~~

The BRITTANT has a deep chest, short but strong loin, and broad hind quarters which are all essential qualities for this active and energetic Absolute Best Dog!:)

The TAIL is customarily DOCKED to 4" and has a small twist of hair on the end. The COAT is fairly FINE but DENSE, LIES rather FLAT and is slightly WAVY.

Colors include: ORANGE and WHITE, LIVER and WHITE, BLACK and WHITE, ROAN or any of these colors in a TRI-COLOR pattern.

Hunting accounts and illustrations dating back to the 1700's depict BRETON (or BRITTANY) SPANIELS. This BRITTANY, however, is not the BRITTANY of today. The *modern* BRITTANY begins his history at the start of the 1900s, when ARTHUR ENAUD devised a breeding program to rejuvenate the *old* BRETON, which at that time was waning into obscurity.

The old dog was physically and temperamentally suited to his native habitat--rough and thicketed country. Todays BRITT may be more suited for the showring but is still a versatile hunter of good ability.

An all-around HUNTER, POINTER, and RETRIEVER, the BRITTANY is also affectionate and eager to please. He makes an excellent companion, being gentle and trustworthy. The ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! ~~BRITTANY~~ is a dog for ALL SEASONS:)!

THANKS ABKATS' COLE,KAYLEIGH & KASSIDY & YOUR MOM*AUNTIE*LISA 4 THIS AB*PROFILE OF THE ABD!BRITTANY:)!

ABSOLUTE BEST DOG CHIHUAHUA *ROCKY*:)!!

"OWNER" OF SLAVE RENATE!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! CHIHUAHUA *PROFILE*~~

The CHIHUAHUA, named after a STATE in MEXICO, is the *smallest* canine in recorded history. Some sources trace the breed to SOUTH AMERICA; it is believed that the dog was revered by the AZTECS as a *SACRED* dog that was fostered by the 9th century TOLTECS when it was called TECHICHI, or developed and kept by the INCAS.

There are two coat types: SMOOTH, a close glossy coat of soft texture.....and LONG, a flat or slightly curly, soft-textured coat with an undercoat prefered. Either coat type can be any color--SOLID, MARKED or SPLASHED:).

The CHIHUAHUAS are very *swift* little dogs with a quick response, and can run circles around dogs twice their size. They have a lot of heart and a lot of energy is contained in ONE of these precious handy-sized CANINE COMPANIONS.

Thanks AUNTIE*LISA for this *Profile* of the ABD!CHIHUAHUA! Perhaps ROCKY'S SLAVE*RENATE will want to add something:)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! COCKER SPANIEL *PROFILE*~~

The ABD!AMERICAN COCKER SPANIELS are small *gundogs* of sturdy and compact build. Although they are small, their muscle quarters allow for considerable speed and endurance.

The coat is long, silky and abundant. Colors may include solid black, black with tan points, blonde or any *solid color* other than black, all with tan points allowed, and particolors. The AMERICAN COCKER SPANIELS are of direct relation to the ENGLISH COCKER SPANIELS. Spaniels in America probably go back farther than the United States:0).

COCKERS in America were bred for desired traits (Size, Body, Head, Build, etc.) and "Through The Years" they changed from both the original COCKERS and the *modern* ENGLISH COCKERS.

It was in the 1800's that the two breeds were recognized as *separate*. The AMERICAN COCKER SPANIEL is today the smallest member of the sporting breed.

Although still called an effective *hunter's helper*:0), the COCKER SPANIEL makes more vocation of Companionship and Showmanship than field work. His/Her most *outstanding* attributes are INTELLENCE and AFFECTION.

MARY'S ABSOLUTE BEST *COLLIE* SANDY!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! COLLIE *PROFILE*~~

COLLIES represent a dignified impression marked by certitude, alertness and intelligence.

Their coat may be either *Rough* or *Smooth*. Rough-coated COLLIES have long and dense fur, while the smooth-coated COLLIES have smooth, short and a double coat. Color can be sable and white, tricolor, blue merle, or white.

The essentiality of pastoral pursuits for Scottish mountain dwellers deemed the breeding of fine working COLLIES tantamount to survival.

Originally, primarily black in color, the "Colley" acquired it's name from the Anglo-Saxon word 'col' meaning 'black'. Queen Victoria's fancy, ignited in 1860, brought this humble *Shepherd's Dog* to the public eye. Even in the breeds' 19th-century heyday, the classic "LASSIE" coloration (sable and white) was scarce. The two coat types developed side by side, without the intervention of any other canine and likely as a natural variant.

Never timid or sullen, the ideal COLLIE is blessed with an expression that is absolutely distinctive to it's breed. The mysticism and perfection of this expression crystallize the essence of the COLLIE character.

Wow Auntie*LISA and Kit*Kats' MS. KAYLEIGH & KING COLE, this is a neatoe *Profile* of the Handsome COLLIE all righty:),:)! MAMA*D use to see all of the Movie Star Collie LASSIE movies too! She said if'n she hadn't preferred us small lap doggies that she would have had COLLIES:0)! (SCARLETT barky'n here!)

ABSOLUTE BEST *DALMATIAN* HOLLY!

CUT SHORT BECAUSE FRIEND MS.JACKIE'S UNCLE'S HAND IS IN THE WAY:0)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! DALMATIAN *PROFILE*~~

All DALMATIANS have a coat coloration of a *virgin white* base with defined round BLACK or LIVER SPOTS. The coat hairs are short, hard and close set.

The overall picture of the DALMATIAN is one of balance and symmetry.

The ABD!DALMATIAN has been known in England since the 1700's. They have undoubtedly gone through many changes over the centuries as an *Ancient Breed*!

These ABSOLUTE BEST DOG!s were adopted and were and still are being used as the MASCOTS of the United States FIRE DEPARTMENTS in the 1800's because of their outstanding way with horses. In the age of horse drawn carriages, they would stride alongside them to protect the travelers within and would clear the road ahead should the carriage come upon a populated area. Later they became more of a STATUS SYMBOL.

The DALMATIAN is a *congenial* and *pliable* pet, although his/her strength and stamina can be too much of a *challenge* sometimes for some owners/slaves:0)!

Thanks Pal AB*PEKE BRANDON & His Mom*LISA for contributing this DALMATIAN *PROFILE*! DALMATIANS are very *dedicated* and *loyal* and ALWAYS EAGER TO PLEASE their Slaves:0)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! DOBERMANN PINSCHER *PROFILE*~~

The DELIGHTFUL DOBERMANN PINSCHER is a dog of sculpted elegance, to denote power, stamina and nobility.

The build is compact and powerful, showing no exaggeration of muscle or bone.

The COAT is smooth, short, hard, thick and close-lying.

Colors include a solid ground color of either BLACK, FAWN, BLUE or RED... all with TAN MARKINGS.:)

The EARS are usually cropped and held erect in the U.S.A. and uncropped and held naturally in GREAT BRITAIN.

The DELIGHTFUL:0) DOBERMANN originated in APOLDA, in GERMANY, through the definitive breeding efforts of HERR LOUIS DOBERMANN, a tax collector and dog catcher. DOBERMANN had the need for a dog that would protect himself from both the irate, negligent tax payers and their snarling guard dogs. In a short period of time, the DOBERMANN'S type was perfected.

The DOBIE remains a dog of outstanding quality and ability, used for guard, police, military and obedience work.

The ABD!DOBERMANN PINSCHER is an unbeatable companion, worker and showman.

MONTI & WIFE'S GRACEFUL & LOVING ADOPTED GREYHOUNDS:)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! GREYHOUND *PROFILE*~~

Generously proportioned and upstanding, the GREYHOUND is symmetrical and powerful.

The body is capacious, with an arched loin and powerful quarters. The lengthy legs and feet are sound and supple, which are important to the dog's traditional function.

The coat is short and smooth and can be colored in any shade, solid or brindle.

The "Speed Merchant" of the canine world, the GREYHOUND need not to dig, fight or scent - only to RUN, and of course to see where it was running.

The breed has the keenest eyesight of any dog. The ARABS are the originators of the dogs we know as the GREYHOUNDS. The "sport" of coursing hares developed. It's purpose intially was to entertain the dogs' owners and friends... none of whom wanted to dine on the kill. As a matter of fact, it became no more than a matter of killing rabbits, since the owners could never tell which dog reached and killed the rabbit first.

Perhaps the answer to the *folly* of hare coursing comes to us in the sport of dog racing, where the rabbit is a decoy and the winner is the fastest and the first disappointed to discover the course was a fluke, further baffled by his owners praise. Yet GREYHOUNDS remain a noble breed, despite having to engage in the mindless diversion of man.

The GREYHOUND is a loving and gentle companion animal. With his family, he is even tempered and affectionate.

In order to maintain his health, it is essential that a GREYHOUND has suitable exercise and that space be provided.

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! LABRADOR *PROFILE*~~

The LABRADOR RETRIEVER is a strongly built, medium-sized, short-coupled, dog possesing a *sound*, *athletic* and *well-balanced conformation* that enables it to function as a retrieving GUN DOG; the substance and soundness to hunt waterfowl or upland game for long hours under difficult conditions; the character and quality to WIN in the SHOW RING; and the temperament to be a FAMILY COMPANION.

The most *distinguishing* characteristics of the LABRADOR RETRIEVER are its short, dense, weather-resistant coat; and "Otter" tail; a clean-cut head with broad back, skull and moderate stop; powerful jaws; and its "kind," friendly eyes... expressing character, intelligence and good temperament. Above all, a LABRADOR RETRIEVER must be well-balanced, enabling it to move in the SHOW RING (if it should be a SHOW DOG) or work in the field with little or no effort.

The typical LABRADOR possesses style and quality without over- refinement, and substance without lumber or cloddiness.

More 2 Come!

ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! SCHNAUZER PIPPEN

OWNER OF SLAVE:) MS. SUZANNE

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! MINIATURE SCHNAUZER *PROFILE*~~

MINIATURE SCHNAUZERS have a moderately broad chest, a strong straight back, well-muscled thighs and a head of good length.

COLORS include Salt/Pepper, Black/Silver and Solid Black. (Like our long-time friend MS. PIPER aka MS. GREASED LIGHTNING:0)!

The COAT is *harsh and rough*.

Fairly thick furnishings adorn the head and legs.

Ears may be cropped in America, but in England they are not tampered with.

TAILS are customarily docked.

It is not know whether the MINIATURE SCHNAUZER was derived directly from the STANDARD or possibly from selectively *crossing* the MINIATURE PINSCHERS and AFFENPINSCHERS, but it is now a distinctive breed with a conformation and character all it's own. The MINIATURE is the *smallest* of the three GERMAN SCHNAUZER breeds and is the only one that is expressively a RATTER.

This is surely one of the most *ELEGANT* of the TERRIERS.

The MINIATURE SCHNAUZER is one of the WORLDS *MOST POPULAR* companion dogs...stylish and friendly... and should NEVER be *overly* aggressive OR timid.

We will have a picture of the STUPENDOUS SCHNAUZER soon:0)!

~~ABSOLUTE BEST DOG! MALTESE *PROFILE*~~

AKA BICHON MALTAISE & MELITA

HISTORY: This ancient of the Toy breeds was described by the Greek philosopher, Theophrastus, as belonging to the “MELITA” breed, an old name of ISLE OF MALTA. The MALTESE was the plaything of *highborn* ladies of ancient EGYPT,GREECE & Imperial ROME.

DESCRIPTION: This sturdy, tiny *companion* ABD! should have a luxurious, white, silky coat hanging straight down to the ground on each side of a center “part” line. The coat is single, with no undercoat & shouldn’t be wavy, curly or kinky. The eyes are round, eye rims & nose must be black to contrast with the snowy coat. A perfectly built Maltese seems to *float* across the floor under it’s cloud of white hair. The high maintenance coat tangles easily & head hair is often tied in a topknot or barretted to avoid tangles. Height: In Males:8-10 inches. Females: 8-9 inches. Weight for both sexes: 6-9 lbs.

TEMPERAMENT: Gentle, loving, playful & devoted to it’s master (Slave:0). Very intelligent & excels at learning “tricks” only to be quite happy to accept as it’s only reward the *praise it deserves*. The beautiful/handsome ABD!MALTESE makes good apartment dogs as they are very active indoors & require very little outdoor exercize. A regular walk will quite suffice this lovely small animal. However, they *prefer* to be “KING” of the household & do not readily accept *other* ABD!s,et al. In addition, it is not suggested for children due to their *delicate* size & doesn’t like rough play. Will turn “snappish” with careless children. Caution: do not be tempted to over-pamper or overprotect these little DOLLS, for some become unstable & may become extremely jealous.

HEALTH CONCERNS: These small darlings are prone to *sunburn* along the part down the spine of their fur. They are small-boned & easily injured because of their small stature. They are sensitive to *extremes* of heat & cold, and must be kept out of the damp as they do become chilled readily. It may be a good idea to “paper train” these ABD!s to avoid going out in bad weather conditions. Some could be hard to feed with weak, upset digestion difficulties.

The MARVELOUS MALTESE are also prone to eye problems due to being scratched by their own hair (hence the suggested topknot). Tooth abnormalities, allgeric skin conditons & bad breath sometimes plague this adored pet. Life expectency is about 15 years, however, they may live as long as 18. Clean the eyes daily to avoid to prevent staining & clean the beard after meals for the same reason. Bathe or dry-shampoo regularly, making sure this ABD! is throughly dried afterwards.

SUMMARY: All in all the MALTESE is a spirited, lively & playful friend to have around the house...being *Bold* & quick to “Sound The Alarm” in case of suspicious noises.

The ABD!MALTESE is a *classic*, *graceful* and just WONDERFULLY LOVEABLE ABD!:0.

Thanks DOOKY & SLAVE MS.STEPHANIE 4 this Info about the MALTESE:0)!

MEET *KING*:0) COLE!

~~THE ABSOLUTE BEST *BOMBAY* KAT *PROFILE*~~

The BOMBAY is another example of American's experimenting with established breeds. The BOMBAY is a *hybrid* emerging from crosses with a Burmese and the AMERICAN SHORTHAIR. Its jet-black coat and aloof, self-contained expression likens it to the INDIAN LEOPARD thus, BOMBAY was selected as the *new breeds* NAME.

The COAT is like SATIN, in texture, and very SHINY and GLOSSY with an almost *artificial* SHEEN.

The BOMBAY'S BLACK COLOR is uniform on the entire body, including the pads, with no shading of the hairs.

EYE COLOR ranges from GOLD to COPPER, and always DEEP & BRIGHT!

The fabulous BOMBAY is slightly larger than most *domestic* cats and very muscular. In INDIA, they are referred to as "MINIATURE PANTHERS."

Despite it's larger size, the BOMBAY is very soft-spoken; it's 'meow' is hardly audible at times;0).

Wowwww, MS. LISA & KIT*KATS, that sure is diff than the SEAL POINT SIAMESE! They CRY SO LOUD, they sound like a Human Babe. Just ask MAMA*D if'n you don't believe me, giggle!
