| WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE A GOOD STYLIST? Ever notice how some people are 'people persons' and others are 'animal lovers'? Well, we are always searching for the latter. Are you kind and trustworthy? Animals sense good people and want to be close to them. Giving them affection is important. Individuals that are willing to never stop learning. The enjoyment never ends for these. Never cheapen the quality of your work. If you like holding on to high standards for yourself and want the respect that comes from being good you will do well. Open minded, willing to try new things. The narrow minded do not see ways to improve and expand their horizons. This is a trade that has and is going through rapid changes and improvements. Positive forward thinking people will always do well because they are looking forward to the best for themselves and their clients. |

| DIFFERENT PEOPLE DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS Each students that graduates has their own take on which direction they want to go with the education that they recieved. Mobile Diana Wiley of 'PETS TO GO' wanted her own mobile salon. She had one built toward the end of the training program. Because she enjoys what she does and is good at it her and husband Steve typically run a long waiting list to get a new customer in. Management Others like Kathy Patterson of 'KATHY'S PRETTY PETS' did not start out owning their own places but instead managed for someone else first. Some people prefer to manage a place rather than to own. Although Kathy did decide to move out and be a owner operator you will find some do so well at managing that they end up being in demand at more than one location such as Ginger Delong Show Ring Competition in the show ring attracts others so much that they take it up enthusiastically and do well. Ed Wilson owner of 'ITS A DOG WORLD' has immersed himself into obedience trials with Max his standard poole. When you walk in his salon it is awards and ceftificates all over the lobby area. Some show an interest in the show ring others in obedience trials. Upscale Salon Irene Creel decided that she wanted a very upscale look and feel for her salon. She got what she wanted in both the design and atmosphere. She is capable of delivering the style and service that goes with the look. Grooming Contest Lorna Gilreath lives in a small Colorado town taht if you blink you missed it. She stays scheduled up but decided that she wanted to step into the grooming contest ring as her next challenge. She is doing very well. Where do you fit in? |
