Jess and I rode the same bus to elementary school, but never met--even though she was only one year behind me.  We went to the same Junior High and High School, shared mutual friends and met only once.  I had trouble remembering her name, so always just referred to her as the "Hottie Red Head".  She even had a crush on me in high school (unbelievable as that might seem) and thought that I was out of her league.  We hung out some at her senior prom and I wanted to ask her out, but was advised against it, seeing as how she had just gotten out of long-term relationship.  We ran into each other occasionally after that when we were both home from college for the summer.  Then in 2001, our friend TJ brings Jess to a party that I was having at my apartment in Philly (THANKS TJ!)  That's when things really got going.  We spent a lot of that night talking, and there was definitely something happening.  I broke up with the girlfriend I had at the time and drove down to the University of Maryland to take Jess out for dinner, and then drove back to Philly.  We dated all that summer and the following school year seeing each other on weekends.  After I graduated, I took a job in Maryland and moved down to be with her.  I asked her to Marry me last May, on one knee of course, after having cleaned our apartment and strung white lights everywhere and strewing the apartment with flowers.  And so here we are, planning a wedding, and now you know a little bit about how we got here.
