Episode 6 - Reunion
ACT FOUR
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
From where we left off. Miss French smiling at Xander.
MISS FRENCH
(sultry and menacing)
Why don't you come over to my place
and we can work on your.. school
project.
XANDER
(still shocked)
Miss French?
Anya grabs a chair and slams it over Miss French. Miss
French collapses onto the floor.
XANDER
(to Anya)
Nice shot. But, how did you know she
was a giant praying mantis?
ANYA
She's a giant praying mantis?
Suddenly, Miss French, now a giant praying mantis,
gets back up. Willow, Cordelia, Xander and Anya
immediately take off and exit the hall.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALLWAY - NIGHT
Willow, Xander, Anya and Cordelia; running and
talking.
ANYA
Who was that?
WILLOW
Miss French. She was a substitute
teacher back in high school, only
she turned out to be a virgin-eating
bug.
ANYA
(indignant)
She's French?
XANDER
(ignoring Anya)
But Buffy killed her already. She
was all chopped up and ready to be
dipped in chocolate.
CORDELIA
We have to find Buffy and Giles.
They'll know what to do.
ANYA
Another good plan.
(to Xander)
I like her.
WILLOW
You know, this isn't really the
reunion I had in mind when I signed
up. I'm just glad Tara's safe.
EXT. SUNNYDALE STREETS - NIGHT
We see Oz's van speeding along being closely followed
by Ethan's van. Ethan's van pulls alongside and rams
into Oz's van. It's a van chase scene!
INT. OZ'S VAN - NIGHT
Oz and Tara shake as the van runs into them. Tara hugs
the picture tighter to her chest.
OZ
There goes that new paint job.
TARA
Can you go any faster?
OZ
I can but this is pretty much as
fast as the van goes.
TARA
(pointing to a road ahead)
That's the turn-off.
OZ
I know. Hang on.
EXT. SUNNYDALE STREETS - NIGHT
The two vans speeding side by side. Ethan's van
continuing to ram Oz's van. The vans approach a side
road.
INT. OZ'S VAN - NIGHT
Oz deep in concentration. He waits, and waits, then he
brakes hard and violently turns the steering wheel.
EXT. SUNNYDALE STREETS - NIGHT
We see Oz's van take the corner at speed while Ethan's
van overshoots. Oz's van mounts the kerb but manages
to make the corner.
INT. OZ'S VAN - NIGHT
Oz and Tara being shaken again, this time from the van
mounting the kerb. Oz gets back on the road and drives
on.
OZ
There goes the suspension.
Tara looks at the picture she is holding on to.
ANGLE : PICTURE
We focus on Willow in the picture as Tara's finger
gently touches it.
TARA
(to the picture, softly)
Hang on baby.
Oz looks at Tara and the picture for a second before
focusing back on the road.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH - NIGHT
Willow, Xander, Anya and Cordelia run into an open
area inside the school but the corridor ahead is
blocked by Ampata from 'Inca Mummy Girl'.
AMPATA
(arms out reaching for
Xander)
Xander, we can be together.
XANDER
Ampata?
ANYA
Another one? Just how many demons
have you been out with?
CORDELIA
Don't look at me. I'm one hundred
percent Cordelia.
We then see Darryl (frankenstein boy) from 'Some
Assembly Required' step out and stand next to Ampata.
He looks at Cordelia.
CORDELIA
Darryl!
(nervously to Darryl)
So, met anyone special yet?
DARRYL
(to Cordelia)
Such a pretty head.
CORDELIA
Oh God.
The gang turn around to head in the opposite
direction, only to be blocked by Jack O'Toole from
'The Zeppo'. He smiles at Xander.
ANYA
Who's this?
XANDER
It's me again.
(to Jack)
So Jack? You didn't bring Katie?
Jack smiles and brandishes his knife.
XANDER
I had to ask.
Daryl, Ampata and Jack close in on the gang.
WILLOW
Okay, no big. We've defeated these
guys before.
CORDELIA
Correction. Buffy defeated these
guys before. We were too busy
standing around being saved.
XANDER
Hey! I defeated Jack here all by
myself. Didn't I Jack?
JACK
(still smiling)
Who has the most fear?
Big fight scene. Jack attacks Xander with the knife.
Darryl grabs Cordelia and Ampata attacks Anya.
ANGLE : DARRYL, CORDELIA AND WILLOW
As Darryl has Cordelia in a bear hug, Willow grabs a
fire extinguisher from a wall and starts to swing it
at Darryl. Darryl sees this, lets go of Cordelia and
knocks Willow down the corridor, away from the main
group.
Cordelia takes the opportunity to grab the fire
extinguisher and knock Darryl on the head with it.
Darryl falls to the ground. Cordelia goes over to help
Anya.
ANGLE : WILLOW
groggily getting to her feet. She looks in front of
her and sees a pair of demony feet. She looks up to
see Moloch (in full demon form) from 'I, Robot.. You
Jane.'
WILLOW
Malcolm! I mean, Moloch.
Moloch reaches down, picks up Willow and throws her
even further down the hall.
MOLOCH
All I want is your love.
ANGLE : ANYA AND AMPATA
duking it out. Anya gets a few punches in but Ampata
is hardly hurt. She grabs Anya and pulls her close,
going for the ol' kiss of death.
Suddenly, Cordelia sprays the fire extinguisher in
Ampata's face. Ampata reels backwards, a little
blinded. Cordelia and Anya punch Ampata at the same
time, knocking her to the ground. The two then smile
and give each other a high five.
ANGLE : WILLOW AND MOLOCH
As Moloch approaches a dazed Willow, sitting on the
ground.
WILLOW
(determined)
I've had enough of this.
Willow stands up, her eyes fill with darkness, turning
black. She stares intently at Moloch.
MOLOCH
(stopping in his tracks)
Huh?
WILLOW
Ignite.
A ring of fire appears at Moloch's feet. It shoots
upwards quickly, consuming Moloch in a ball of flame.
In a few seconds, Moloch and the fire is gone, nothing
but a black scorch on the floor.
Willow's eyes turn back to normal as she looks around
her to see if anyone saw. She then rushes back towards
the gang.
ANGLE : XANDER AND JACK
Jack lunges with his knife but Xander manages to
deftly evade it. Xander, calling upon some of his
commando memories, manages to wrestle the knife away
from Jack and then impressively knocks him into a
vending machine. Jack is out cold.
Willow, Anya and Cordelia join Xander by the vending
machine.
CORDELIA
(to Xander)
Very impressive.
ANYA
(hugging Xander)
Yes, sometimes he can surprise you.
XANDER
(happily)
I'm commando guy.
Suddenly we hear a voice from behind Xander.
GILES (O.S.)
Xander.
Xander lets out a girlish yelp. He turns around
quickly to see Giles and Buffy standing behind him,
looking a little out of breath.
CORDELIA
Where have you guys been?
BUFFY
Guys! We have to..
XANDER
You wouldn't believe what's been
happening.
WILLOW
Death by nostalgia.
XANDER
Yeah, but we totally took care of
business.
BUFFY
Guys! Big giant snake.. goes by the
name of the Mayor?
WILLOW
What?
Willow and Xander look over Buffy and Giles' shoulders
to see the Mayor in snake form, a long way down the
corridor but heading their way fast.
The Gang rushes off quickly.
EXT. OUTSIDE SUNNYDALE HIGH - NIGHT
We see Oz's van pull up outside the main entrance to
the high school. Oz and Tara, holding the picture, get
out and run to the main door. The lights are out in
the high school. Tara tries the door but it is locked
TARA
It's locked. The reunion must be
over.
We see Ethan's van pull up and vamps start to spill
out.
OZ
Let me try.
Tara stands aside. Oz takes a running leap at the
door, runs into it at full speed and falls back onto
the ground, rebounding off the still locked door.
TARA
Are you okay?
OZ
The funny thing is, I knew that
wouldn't work.
Oz gingerly gets back up to see a vamp running at full
pace directly at him.
TARA
Oz!
Oz ducks as the vamp jumps at him. It flies over him
and slams through the door, breaking it open. The vamp
is knocked out.
OZ
(to the vamp)
Thanks.
Oz and Tara step through into the high school as more
vamps start running up the stairs towards them.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALLWAY - NIGHT
Oz and Tara runs straight for the entrance to the
hall. Oz tries the door but it is locked.
OZ
You know, security was a lot looser
when the school was still in one
piece.
TARA
Quick, they're coming. We'll try the
other entrance.
ANGLE : OZ AND TARA
as they run down the hallway. We TRACK them for a few
seconds as they run from left to right on the screen.
We cease tracking and Tara and Oz exit the frame to
the right.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALLWAY - NIGHT
MATCH CUT:
the same hallway in the alternate reality. We see
Willow and the rest of the gang enter the frame from
the right. We start to TRACK them as they run down the
hallway from right to left.
The gang heads for the exit but is blocked by the
Gorch Brothers from 'Bad Eggs', Lunch Lady Doris from
'Earshot' and some members of the swim team from 'Go
Fish'.
BUFFY
(pointing to a door on the
right)
Quick, in here.
The gang runs in and finds themselves in
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
Buffy, Giles and Anya quickly barricade the door. The
rest of the gang head for the other door.
ANYA
Great! We're back where we started.
Look at me! I'm sweating and.. and I
think I've got the chills. It's like
a bad case of malaria!
BUFFY
Anya, enough with the diseases!
ANGLE : XANDER AND WILLOW AT DOOR#2
Xander and Willow quickly move the tables and chairs
out of the way that were barricading the second door.
Xander tries the door but it is locked.
XANDER
It's locked!
We prelap:
TARA
Can you get it open?
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALLWAY - NIGHT
We see Oz trying the door. Tara is anxiously looking
down the hallway.
OZ
No good. It's locked tight.
TARA
What do we do?
OZ
I could wolf out, take on the vamps.
TARA
No. You have to try to stay in
control. I need you with me.
Tara takes a look at the door, then turns to Oz.
TARA
Stand back, let me try something.
Oz stands back as Tara focuses on the door. We see the
doors start to shake, increasingly violently.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
Xander is still trying the door without any luck.
Buffy comes over and places her hands on the door.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALLWAY - NIGHT
Tara continues to focus intently on the door. The door
shakes violently until suddenly.. the doors fly open.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
the doors fly open as Buffy pulls on the door. The
gang immediately reel backwards as they see something.
REVERSE ANGLE : THE MASTER AND A WHOLE GANG OF VAMPS
smiling at Buffy and the gang.
The gang backs away as the Master and his minions
enter the hall.
The door behind them smashes open as the Snake Mayor
crashes through. The gang form a tight circle in the
centre of the room as the Mayor and the Master closes
in.
ANYA
Someone pinch me. I want to wake up
now.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
Tara runs into the now empty hall, leftovers from the
reunion still lying on the floor. Oz starts to follow
but is grabbed by some vamps. Tara turns around.
TARA
Oz!
OZ
(struggling with the
vamps)
Keep going! Break the spell!
Oz knocks one vamp to the floor but is grabbed by
another.
Tara starts to run towards the picture area when more
vamps burst through door#1. One of them grabs her
foot, pulling Tara to the ground. Ethan Rayne enters.
Oz sees this. He continues to struggle, starting to
get angry. We see his hand start changing as he begins
to wolf out.
Tara kicks away the hand and clambers over to the
picture area.
ETHAN RAYNE
Get her!
A bunch of vampires close on Tara as she reaches the
picture area. She stands, and raises the picture over
her head.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
We see the Master, the Mayor and the vamps just about
to attack the gang. The gang brace for the attack.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
Tara throws the picture down onto the floor, breaking
the spell.
INT. ALTERNATE SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
The gang dissapears in a blinding flash of light as
the Master and the Mayor attack.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH/HALL - NIGHT
The gang materialises around Tara. They readjust,
standing as one as they face Ethan's vamps.
ANGLE : OZ AND THE VAMPS IN THE DOORWAY
The vamps, on seeing Buffy and the Gang, let Oz go and
scamper away. Oz looks on.
ANGLE : ETHAN'S VAMPS IN THE HALL
The vamps stop in their tracks. They look at the scene
in front of them.
REVERSE ANGLE : THE GANG
The entire gang with their game faces on. Buffy in the
middle.
The vamps look at each other and then promptly run
away to door#1, revealing Ethan Rayne standing by
himself in the hall.
GILES
Ethan.
ETHAN RAYNE
Ripper.
A beat as the two stare each other down. Ethan then
promptly scampers away towards door#1.
Willow works a little magic. The door slams in Ethan's
face, knocking him out.
The gang relaxes. Hugs all around. Willow and Tara
embrace.
ANGLE : OZ
as he concentrates on his hand, dewolfing. He looks at
Willow and Tara embrace. Tara sees him and smiles
slightly. He returns a small smile and looks on for a
beat before walking away.
Buffy and Giles walks over to Ethan. Giles picks a
still groggy Ethan up and sits him on a chair.
GILES
Now let's you and I have a friendly
chat.
ETHAN RAYNE
You honestly don't think I'm going
to let on who sent me here, do you?
BUFFY
Someone sent you?
ETHAN RAYNE
(realising his mistake)
Blast.
GILES
Tell us what you know.
ETHAN RAYNE
Or what? You're going to set your
little slayer here on me? Go ahead.
I'll never talk. All the pain in the
world cannot compare to what will
happen to me if I talk.
GILES
We'll send you on another vacation,
a one-way trip back to England and
the Council. You'll simply
dissapear. No one can hurt you.
ETHAN RAYNE
I don't think so mate. Do your
worst.
GILES
Buffy?
Buffy walks towards Ethan in a very threatening
manner. Ethan looks very nervous. Buffy raises her
fist.
ETHAN RAYNE
Wait! Wait! I'll talk. I'll bloody
talk.
GILES
(to Ethan)
Do you ever wonder if you're in the
right line of business?
ETHAN RAYNE
It's the General okay. That's what
they all call him. He hired me.
They're preparing for something big,
I don't know what.
Buffy makes another threatening gesture.
ETHAN RAYNE
An army! I think I heard something
about raising an army.
BUFFY
(to Giles)
An army?
ETHAN RAYNE
And it looks like he's got quite a
few candidates to choose from,
judging by the number of vampires at
his mansion. Now, let's get the
bleedin' hell out of here before
they decide to pay us a visit.
We suddenly hear footsteps, someone approaching the
door. Everyone turns to see, tensing up.
ANGLE ON : THE DOOR
as it opens to reveal.. Harmony, dressed in party
wear.
HARMONY
(happy and excited)
I'm here!
(then noticing the vista
before her)
Did I miss it?
EXT. WILLOW AND TARA'S DORM - DAY (DAY 3)
to establish
INT. WILLOW AND TARA'S ROOM - DAY
Tara is by herself in the room. We hear a knock at the
door. Tara opens the door to reveal Oz.
TARA
Hey.
OZ
(a small smile)
That's my line.
TARA
Come in.
Oz walks in and takes a look around the room.
TARA
You kinda dissapeared.
OZ
Kinda had to.
TARA
You okay? I mean, you didn't get
hurt?
OZ
No. I'm fine. It was good to feel
like a Scooby again, you know, even
if it was just for one night.
(a beat, then)
By the way, everything I said before
about hanging in there? Scratch that
because, you know, you already
belong.
Tara smiles. She notices Oz fiddling with his keys.
TARA
How's the van?
OZ
Battered and bruised but stronger
for the experience, I'm sure.
TARA
You're heading off?
OZ
Yeah. Again, I'm sorry about the
unannounced drop-in. I guess
some things can't be helped.. when
it comes to people you love.
Oz takes a lingering look at a picture of Willow on a
table.
TARA
She'll be okay.. I mean, I'll always
look out for her cause, you know,
(as if her designated
title, smiling)
I'm Willow's girl.
OZ
No, I know you'll look out for her
because she's your girl.
They exchange a smile.
TARA
I'm glad we met, I mean, really this
time.
OZ
Ditto.
Oz takes a final look at Willow's picture, a silent
final goodbye.
TARA
Do you want a picture of her, I
mean, a more recent one?
OZ
(smiling)
That's okay. If I want to see her, I
can always see her.. Besides,
pictures fade.
Oz smiles and exits the room.
BLACKOUT
