I think revision 5 will be my final stage of this project.  Now that the steering channel is not continuous rotation I can design the chassis as a solid piece.  Also, I'll be able to use the batteries as steering weight now that the steering is only pivoting instead of rotational.  So, I'm going to make a completely new chassis with new bigger servos and a continuous drive servo with a wider neutral band so it won't creep.  Other revisions will include machined aluminum hubs and mating surfaces, custom batery pack, lead weights and a REAL basketball skin.

Here is the robotics mounted in the ball.  It doesn't take any specialty tools it just twists together. It's fun to drive it like this because it's very responsive.  It drives very well on carpet.  It tends to oscillate a lot when driven on a hard surface.  I have a gyro on order that I think will help.

Here is a real basketball I cut apart and filled in with foam to fit my ball.

And there it is all closed up, ready to roll.
