Here's my 1965 Chevy Corvair project
I wish I started taking pictures earlier in the project.  This is the earliest picture I have.  I bought it with original faded yellow paint and stock wheels and hub caps.  Here it is with about half the body work done  and slot mags that I had to hunt around for.
There's my custom exhaust out the back.  I got headers and had to make my own pipes from the headers up and around and out the back.  Not an easy chore for a rookie welder but it all turned out fine.  I replaced all the interior seat covers, carpets etc.  I also put in a Corsa dash with factory a tach..
I rebuilt the top end or should I say top ends of the flat 6 air cooled engine.  Here's a pic with the polished aluminum alternator, rebuilt carbs (yes there's 4 of them), new steel braided fuel lines, all new hoses and a lot of new wiring.  This is a Monza car (2 carbs) but I replaced the heads with Corsa 140 heads for more power.  I know it looks like a mess now but I have plans for this engine compartment to look neet again.

I took EVERY last piece of trim and lights and door handles off before paint.  There will be absolutely NO messy overspray on this car..
Here it is after paint, block sand, buff and all trim back on.  Oh, and a custom roll bar I made.  That shaded line down the door doesn't look right but that's because of hte building casting a shadow ... it's a nice straight line down the side.  I also polished the slot mags and found center caps for them.  Of course all the door jambs, under the trunk and hood were all painted.
Here's the back side.  You can see my custom exhaust pipes and the holes I had to make in the lower rock guard.  I'm sure glad I got to keep the old black license plates.  Some of the aluminum and stainless trim pieces needed to be sanded and buffed out but for the most part they just needed a little polish.  The chrome bumpers were in great shape.
Here's the finished engine compartnemt.  All the hoses and wires have been tucked nicely away or loomed up.  Notice there's not even a hint of yellow paint anywhere.
Here's the interior.  I painted the dash with crinkle paint to match the original finish.  I cut the face off the original radio so I can put it over the nice new radio in the dash and it will look original and hide the new one.  I installed a new carpet kit, all new seat covers, head liner, windshield, and a custom stereo system (2 amps,4 speakers, 2 subs) hidden between the rear seat and the engine firewall.   It looks completely original with the old radio plate in and the system hidden but it sounds great when it's all revealed ... just the way I like it.

The dash is out of a Corsa so it has a tach and cylinder head temp guage that the monza didn't have.  I even got the original points style clock to work (It's pretty rare to see a working one these days).

I also installed power door lock actuators and an alarm system with keyless entry.  I didn't want to cut holes in anything for the door lock switch so I made a plastic plate and LED light in the ash tray for the switch.
