>Our intelligence sources in Annapolis tell us that members of the Senate committee reviewing HB 322 - the Hate Crimes Penalties Act - are receiving an enormous volume of calls, faxes, and e-mails from Take Back Maryland members. This is the same anti-gay group that fought so stridently against passage and implementation of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 2001.
>HB 322 is under serious attack. The opposition language of fear and unreasoned bias should not be underestimated in its power to weaken the resolve of Senators whose votes are needed to move this legislation forward and secure equality of hate crimes protections for gay, lesbian, and bisexual Marylanders. FSJ members must demonstrate their passion for equality now!
