I'm pretty fed up with Incubus. When I got into their album Make Yourself way back when, they became my favorite band. However, their two albums after MY have been less than impressive. I recently heard that they will be releasing a new album in November 2006, so I decided to check the forums to see what people are saying. Well, here's what they're saying.
This first one was the funnier of the two threads. The original post contained links to live footage of a new Incubus song which will presumably appear on the new album. My handle is "Pervis."
Post 13: Pervis - are any of you using your ears, or are you too infatuated with this band to realize that that song fucking blew. if that's what their new album is gona be like, incubus is dead to me. they havent had a solid album since make yourself. they need to quit trying to experiment and just make a quality album.

Post 24: reservation - well, if you read my posts carefully, you will notice that i'm not trying to profile your ENTIRE character. i'm just saying the obvious things - a person who is that agressive without any worthy reason seems to have psychological problems. that's all.

This one was fun for a while but dragged on and on because the guy at the end couldn't realize that he's just a puppet for Incubus. I was just trying to piss him off near the end. The original post had a link for a sound byte from a live Incubus show where they played some unreleased garbage that no one wants to hear.
Post 44: Pervis - what was so special about this clip? this is just the same boring soft rock BS that has been present on their last two albums. i'm tired of incubus putting out albums riddled with soft rock songs and still trying to pass as real rockers. they fucking blow now.
Post 45: reservation - what's so cool about coming to incubus' site and talking shit about them on their forum? if you are tired of them, it's up to you, listen to smth else. they don't try to be "real rockers" they just are what they are.

Post 47: reservation - ooops, did i say smth wrong? should learn to stay calm... but i really get very angry when i hear this. i prefer incubus turning a bit... tranquil (?) instead of seeing adult men acting like teenagers on stage, jumping crazy, breakin equipment and so on....
Post 48: Pervis - if you like tranquil incubus, then you're certainly getting your wish. but have you not noticed how they are trying to please two different crowds? one of them is your crowd, who prefer tranquil, and the other is the older fans who prefer hard rock. make yourself was my all time favorite album for a while, and i've hung around for something similar for two albums, but to no avail. i'm afraid this next one is the last one i'll wait for.
Post 49: reservation - for those you prefer make yourself there is always make yourself. why should they copy their previous albums? yes, they have changed. so what?
Post 50: Pervis - you can only listen to one album so many times. i'm not saying they should copy their old albums i'm saying i'd rather see them return to alt-metal instead of veering into soft rock. just because you stay in the same genre for more than one album doesnt mean you're copying yourself. damn you're slow.
Post 51: reservation - well, it's your opinion. but what if they just don't feel like making the same music they had been making before morning view? is that a crime? why saying "they suck" and so on just because you got tired of their music?
Post 52: Pervis - if they don't feel like making pre-MV music then i won't be a fan for much longer. they suck
Post 53: reservation - oh that's a terrible loss for the band if you are not their fan anymore...
Post 54: Pervis - I know. that's 15 dollars per album that they won't be getting from me. not to mention 25 dollars for every live dvd. oh and the negative feedback which i'll relay to my friends, eliminating any interest they might have in purchasing any new albums. sucks for incubus

Post 58: Pervis - i'm not asking for MY specifically, just some good ol' incubus alt-metal. they've been getting softer and softer with each new album. that is why i am losing interest in the band.
Post 59: pins&needles - oh. well a crow left of the murder wasnt all that soft in my opinion. personally... id like to hear them come out with a mix of songs on their next album- some soft, yeah. but some edgier [like on SCIENCE]. either way though i'll probably still like it.

Post 62: Pervis - here's the thing. before they were famous, they could not afford to experiment the way they are now. do you honestly think that Crow would have been a platinum album had it been their debut? Fuck no. that album is too all over the place to even be placed in a genre. so i repeat myself: they know they can "experiment," and even if it turns out like dogshit people will still buy into it simply because it was made by incubus. people need to wake up.

Post 66: Pervis - no, i'm not judging your character, i'm telling you that Crow is dogshit and that you like it because it's by incubus. now, maybe you're the exception in that case, but i meant to speak in general when i said, "if incubus was unknown and they released Crow as their first album, you'd think it was mediocre and hard to get into because it doesn't have a consistent sound." Crow can hardly be called an album. the style from song to song is so different. there is no coherence. that's not to say that some of the songs on it are not outstanding, but as an album it is low quality.

Post 68: Pervis - No, it's not about opinion. It's about Crow being a low quality album simply because it is so inconsistent. You cannot deny that Crow is an inconsistent album. Once you realize that, you'll realize that the only reason you like it is because incubus made it. End of story. If people get pissed off at me for trying to open their eyes to the fact that they're just puppets then so be it. lol it's been fun. night
