Both teams were tied at 8 runs apiece after nine innings. Los Angeles(NL) ended up winning it in the 10th inning. Augie Ojeda started the inning off right when he smacked a single. After an out was recorded, Todd Helton stepped up to the plate and he lashed a single. Chone Figgins then lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 1st of the season) making Los Angeles(NL) the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 7 times. The winning pitcher was Angel Guzman(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning. J.J. Putz(0-1) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 5.40 to 7.15. 'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully grim,' noted Dan Johnson. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together and turn things around!'
