"HAPPILY EVER AFTER" by Susan May Warren | ||||||||
1. Did you like this book? Why, or why not? 2. Mona buys the Victorian house on impulse because it is everything she wants for her bookstore. Was this a smart decision? Have you ever bought something on impulse? Did you regret it later? 3. Have you ever had a dream so big that only God could make it come true? Share, if you're willing! :-) Has it come true? 4. Why did Joe end up at Mona's? Was it just coincidence? 5. Why does Joe hid the truth about his brother, Gabe, and about his identity from Mona? Why is it harmful to keep secrets? 6. Why can't Mona let go of the past? Why can't Joe? How are they both eventually able to do this? 7. Mona's dream keeps being threatened by the mysterious "accidents," and she blames Joe, even though she doesn't want to believe he would do this. Did you believe Joe was guilty or innocent? Did you suspect someone else? Who, and why? 8. How did you feel when Mona went to the jail to forgive for trying to sabotage her shop? Do you think he deserved her forgiveness? Why do you think that Mona did this? 9. A reviewer on Amazon.com wrote: "...The characters in the story are true believers who really love God, and yet they make mistakes, they have misconceptions about the truth, and they desperately need the transforming work of God on their hearts... the story encourages and reminds the reader that being "born again" does not make one perfect, and no matter how much we may desire to please God and "get it right," we will fail, but it's OK because God knows we will (He even expects it!) and He loves us and accepts us anyway..." a) Why do we think that God expects us to always "get it right"? What drives us to be so perfectionistic? |
