"ON EVERY SIDE" by Karen Kingsbury
1. On page 22, Jordan Riley says to the judge: "...if we allow people like Mr. Campbell to control the minds of our youth, we lose the free society our forefathers fought to give us. In its place we'll have a culture of robots controlled by some mystical belief in a God that doesn't exist...robots who teach hatred toward people with alternative lifestyles or differing religions ..."
   a) Do you agree that, by separating church and state the government is returning "freedom" to the people?
   b) Do we, as Christians, feel hatred toward those who live alternative lifestyles or have differing religions? Do you think we're biased against these people, even maybe on a subconscious level?

2. Mr. Campbell's attorneys tried to fight back using an argument of "freedom of speech and religious freedom," but they were denied this argument on the grounds that it was irrelevant. Do you think that separation of chuch and state is NOT infringing on the rights to religious freedom and free speech?

3. Faith Evans is forced to keep quiet about her faith while she's reporting for TV. How do you feel about this? Do you think she is betraying her faith/betraying God by keeping silent?

4. Why do you think Jordan's view started to change after watching Faith on TV leading the prayer rally (when the temporary wall went up)?
