Bizarre? Scary? ... Cool!
Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches
female (Gracie)
male (George)
Quite a "gross-out" for most people.  They're actually harmless but that hasn't stopped even some of my big football player students from being scared of them.  Incapable of biting or stinging, their only real defense is to hiss [and they do -- quite loudly sometimes].

The male is distinguishable from the female by a pair of large bumps on his thorax by his head.  When looked at head on, the bumps give him the appearance of being the head of a reptile or frog.

This was Igor, an Eastern Garter snake.  He slithered into my school [literally] one morning & became a new addition to my classroom.  He was quite a pig when it came to food but my students enjoyed feeding him.
Hairy-et is a Chilean Rosey Hair tarantula.  She has quite a gentle disposition & is very easy to care for.  Since this picture was taken she has done some redecorating.  She essentially created a curtain of silk and litter and then strung the curtain across her cabin's doorway.  She then dug a tunnel underneath the cabin for entry and exit.  Apparently she wanted a bit more privacy.

Recently she molted.  Her colors seem to have improved as a result.

Masque (short for Masquerade) is my Pueblan milksnake.  She's just about 2 feet long.  Extremely docile, her only draw back is that, like most Pueblans, she's a rather shy and nervous creature.  Still trying to get a nice shot of her.
Peanut is my leopard gecko.  She's been with me for over 7 years now.  Here are a few pics I took of here in her juvenille stage when she kindly consented to pose for a small photo shoot.  Ain't she a cutie!
And some more current pics of my lil "dragon".
My Avicularia versicolor 'sling' (baby tarantula).  This one has no name since I do not yet know what sex it is.  I've has this lil un for about a yr now & it has grown quite a bit. I love the coloring on this one -- it is actually metallic blue at this time.
Quasimodette (named after the Hunchback of Notre Dame) is a corn snake no one wanted.  She got her name as a result of a huge kink she has in her spine.  It makes her clumsy as all get out but she still gets around.  Presently she is still just a young un.
