Phantazia: The Woman Behind the Mask

X-History: Phantazia is first seen among the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, as they are recruiting the Morlocks known as Masque and Thornn into their ranks.  Toad comments that some of the Brotherhood are known villains, while some will get to be known soon, obviously speaking about Phantazia.  While Masque doesn't approve of joining the Brotherhood, Thornn quickly changes his mind by saying how much she wants Feral dead.  Toad tells them that their first mission, then, will be to destroy X-Force!

While Toad, Blob, and Pyro distract the X-Force members Warpath, Shatterstar, and Siryn, Phantazia, Masque, and Thornn break into X-Force's carrier bay.  Phantazia is shocked at all the technology that they have.  They start to plant the plastique, only to get shot at by Cable, and come face to face with the rest of X-Force.  Phantazia shuts down Cable's weaponry, but it won't last for long.  Thornn shuts off the lights, and a good old fashioned showdown occurs.  Feral immediatly attacks Thornn, and Phantazia strikes Cable.  Cable unloads his ammo into Phantazia, but she's unaffected.  He orders Cannonball to strike her, and he plans on expanding his blast field inside of her to finish her off.  As he gets into her cape, she immediatly disrupts his power, and he falls to the ground.  Cable orders all X-Force to clear out.  Sauron makes his way into the base, only to be attacked by a power-flickering Cannonball.  However, Phantazia's power disrupted his blast field, leaving him invulnerable.  Sauron stabs his talon into Cannonball's heart, killing him.

Outside, Siryn, Shatterstar, and Warpath look for the missing Brotherhood members.  Blob appears out of nowhere, as Phantazia was scrambling the X-Force members' senses.  However, Blob jumps off a cliff.  Inside, Sauron and Thornn are taken out.  Phantazia and Masque appear, only to be surrounded by X-Force.  Phantazia realizes their game is done, so she flys off, leaving Masque to be killed.

Their next plan is to recruit newly arriving mutants from Genosha into the Brotherhood.  Toad tries to reason with them, but Quicksilver crashes in.  Blob lunges at him, only to fall on his head.  Quicksilver punches Toad around, but Pyro distracts him.  As he runs towards Pyro and Blob, Phantazia blasts him, shutting his body down completely.  Toad tells him that he may mock his leadership, but he knew to keep Phantazia, one of his strongest teammates, in reserve.  However, Phantazia is blasted by Havok.  X-Factor battles the Brotherhood, and the Brotherhood loses.

The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants appear much later, bickering about how they're not getting anywhere.  Pyro and Blob get into an arguement, but Phantazia stops it by disrupting Pyro's flamethrower.  Toad has a new plan: Kidnap Portal, and they'll be able to go anywhere at anytime!  Meanwhile, Portal is attacked by the Iron-Men, government agents.  They get him into an electric-net, only to be shut down by Phantazia, and cut out by Sauron.  A battle begins.  Each Brotherhood member gets their share, until Phantazia gets impatient and destroys the guards' armor.  They go to a fleeing Portal, only to be blasted by Darkhawk.  Spider-Man appears, as well.  Portal flees, trying to open a portal.  Blob shows up, and tells him to hand over the armor that forms portals.  Portal tells him that it's not the armor that opens them, and he's a mutant.  Eventually, the Brotherhood is taken out, and they retreat.

They eventualyl suceed in capturing Portal, and do turn him into their slave through Sauron's hypnotic gaze.  They go to Times Square, and a battle between the Brotherhood and Darkhawk, Sleepwalker, and Spider-Man occurs.  Phantazia shuts down Sleepwalker's eye-beams, but that doesn't stop the team from getting beaten.  Toad realizes that they're not going to win, so Portal opens a portal and they flee.

The Brotherhood then argue over Portal, and Sauron's ability to control him.  Phantazia warns Toad, but he doesn't listen.  Darkhawk and Sleepwalker crash through a window, and attack.  They get the better of the Brotherhood, and they order Portal to get them out of there.  However, Portal is grabbed by Darkhawk just in time, and taken out of Sauron's grip.

The Brotherhood finally rests, and goes on a boating trip.  Exodus appears, and brings word from Magneto that he has found Phantazia worthy to join Avalon.  She regretfully refuses, and Exodus leaves.  In the end, she sits at the end of the boat alone, while the others talk about how they don't need Magneto.

Months later, Pyro finds out that he has the Legacy virus.  They go to stay with a man named Jonathan Chambers, where he offers a haven to all Legacy virus-infected mutants.  Old friends Crimson Commando and Avalanche, under the order of the governement, search Jonathan Chambers' island, only to find the Brotherhood.  Pyro and Blob are upset at them, and they fight a bit, but Chambers interrupts.  He tells them that Commando and Avalanche will help them.  Later, Avalanche confronts Pyro about the events with Desert Storm.  Phantazia, watching them from afar, asks Toad if Avalanche'll be able to help Pyro, and he responds by saying that he will emotionally.  The X-Men infiltrate Chambers' island, and meet the Brotherhood.  They fight, but Chambers appears and attacks everyone.  Pyro reveals his Legacy virus, Revanche hers, and it's unhappily ever after.

Where is Phantazia now?  Lost in Limbo.  Perhaps she'll return again.  Perhaps not.  It'd be a shame to let such a creative character waste away.
