Tori and Me...

The very first time I ever saw Tori Spelling was early in 1996.

I was in the check-out line at my local Winn-Dixie when I happened to glance up at that week's issue of TV Guide. Looking back at me (well, not really 'at me' so much as 'over my right shoulder') was a pretty blonde girl with enormous brown eyes and a curiously (yet not unattractively) assymetical nose. The cover of the magazine identified her as "Tori Spelling of Beverly Hills, 90210," which was hardly necessary since a chorus of angels had already started singing it.

I picked up the magazine and tossed it on top of my meager assortment of groceries, thinking to myself, "so that's Tori Spelling of Beverly Hills, 90210. Quite the little hottie!" I was vaguely aware that there was such a person as Tori Spelling, but I would've had trouble aplenty picking her out of a line-up (unless she was the only pretty blonde girl with enormous brown eyes and a curiously (yet not unattractively) assymetical nose in the line-up).

The local FOX station [WOFL (ch. 35)] in Orlando was at that time airing re-runs of 90210 on Saturday mornings at 6 a.m. So I fell into the habit of setting my alarm, pouring myself a big bowl of raisin bran, and tuning in to watch Brandon, Brenda and the gang sort out the harrowing ordeals of High School life.

Not that I had any real interest in the triumphs and tragedies of our intrepid band of teeny-boppers; all I wanted was to catch an occasional glimpse of this cute blonde chick who was so vigorously tickling my fancy.
