Mother’s Medicine
You had the best medicine chest
In the whole wide world!
You had lots of Kleenex for those tears,
You had a warm washcloth for the scrapes,
And a homemade icepack for all the bumps.
You always had a good supply of bandages on hand
Because you knew that your kids would need them!
You’d wipe away the tears with love,
And gently wipe away the blood (usually with a little mud) -
Then you’d bandage us up with care.
Of course you would find a little treat
To help us forget our boo-boos.
Then give us a big hug, and a final “check”,
Before letting us back out to play
You were better than all the doctors
Because of your gentle and loving way,
Always a hug, kiss, a little prayer,
Your Medicine was the very best!
