SINGAPORE |
I stayed at The New 7th Storey Hotel. This one was expensive at £20 per night (like the rest of singapore) but ok. The lift is noisy which was a problem but on the whole a good place to stay. Though slightly confusingly it didnt have 7 storeys... Wish I could have stayed at Raffles. |

Sentosa is a big 'theme park' on an island at the tip of Singapore. I was told it was great but it was a bit rubbish really. I saw the oceanarium which was cool as there was loads of fish and a cute dugong (though her tank looked way too small) and the dolphin show was good even though I didnt get to go in with them. The cinemania thing was pretty lame and I was disapointed to find Lonely Planet out of date and that the water wonderworld had vanished. Despite this, the beach was nice enough with palm trees and lovely sand and water. I also went on the cable car to the mainland which had some nice veiws. It was very easy to get to sentose though as theres a regular bus service for only 3SND (includind entrance) and the attractions within it range from 5 to 17SND. |

I didn't actually do much in Singapore, though there is quite a lot to do. I missed out the famous zoo and all the wildlife things, having spent the last 3 months in the jungle and seen real wildlife. This left only the house of horrors which made me jump but was really a bit lame and expensive for what it was. The science world thingy was fun but tended to focus on the army a bit too much, though I loved playing on the machines they had out back. There's plenty of other museums if that's your thing. There was also a place called Haw Par Villa which was interesting, if slighty weird because it had all these images of people being tortured in hell. Lovely! I also saw Raffles hotel- didn't go in it though, i'm not posh enough. |

Food It was very hard to find a decent meal in Singapore, I lived on Mcdonalds mainly though the resturant below the hotel served ok if bland food. And one night in Chinatown I found a great place with food stalls. But on the whole Singapore is not a food paradise (unless you're rich) |

Dolphin show at Sentosa. I love dolphins- seeing these was a definate highlight even though I didnt get to touch them. I would have loved to see wild dolphins but I didnt. :-( |
Me on the big Sentosa sign, the tip of SE Asia apparently |
