In the deep hours afore dawn on a little side street of Newcastle a baby’s cry is heard from the home of the Neave family.   The midwife places the child, a strong boy, into the still trembling arms of his mother, Mariline as the proud father, Franklin looks on.
“This be our Alexander, mine husband.”, Mariline says to Franklin.
“Aye, he takes of the proud name of his passed grandfather and will carry on his line and his name.”, says Franklin.

His father would turn of his grave to know his son now only hides of his past, the honor that was once of the Neave name resting soley within his memory and tortured soul.
So proud were his parents and then little sister, Emily when he took of his oath to both the Order and Newcastle Constabulary.
Again showing their pride when he took the hand of Winifred in the marriage they and her family planned of him and her.  A pity they both only saw of his first born, Franklin, named of his grandfather and nae were to see his precious Abigail see life as they parted from this life.

He is thankful to his very soul to this day his father nae saw his shame when he left the order and his constable duties because of his overzeal, his total passion for his duties but disregard for his Order oath as he commits what he considers an atrocity that will forever haunt his memories and sleep.
“Aye, Alexander, it was nae your fault or doing.  You nae coulda helped of it, me lad.”, his Order Prelate spoke to him with his guiding hand upon his troubled shoulder.
His superior of the Constabulary echoes of  his Prelate’s words and sentiment but nae any of the words easing the sickness and pain inflicted upon his heart of the terrible incident.

He slowly makes his way to the little cottage he and his Wendy raise up their children and says nothing of his self imposed shame to them as he tasks them to pack so all that is left in Newcastle be memories.  He bids of his farewells to Emily and her courting Irish beau as he and his family board the vessel bound for Cardiff in Wales.
Almost within sight of their new home does tragedy strike and his most painful moment of his young life happens.  The ship, caught in a sudden gale, crashes upon the rocks off Cardiff’s shores and breaks up taking all he owned and held dear to join of his parents in the heavenly afterlife as he tried in vain to save them to nae avail only to drag of his weary and spent body upon the beach with only of two other survivors of the sinking.
Taken in by the city watch captain and his family he regains his physical strength only to still have nae heart of anything else as he weeps over his visiting sister’s shoulder nae wanting to continue of this life.
The caring Emily scolds and demands her dear brother find reality once again or nae lay claim of her as his blood and travels to live in Dublin with her now husband, a prosperous cooper.
Stung by her words he takes the offered post of being a member of the Cardiff city watch and moves into the guard barracks to begin his service of the city.

While amid his duties one eve he is taken by surprise by what he thought be a poor lady in need only to be taken prisoner by her husband and herself and spirited back to a land known as Pembrokeshire to find out they be the King and Queen themselves.
After the hostilities between the two lands cease he is placed in their trust and of their remorse and given freedom from their dungeons upon which in a chance meeting, thinking her to be a simple servant, does he find his renewal to life, the then Countess Raleigh of Brecon that was visiting of the castle.
After some harrowing experiences and of a courtship he takes of her hand for life and of his newfound happiness he accepts the offered position of Head Constable of the land, but nae without some deep searching of his still pained soul and memories afore doing so.
His sister once again of his life seeing of his fresh start and of her meeting of his saving angel of a wife he begins his life anew within the new home and of forever love with his Leigh.  His past and his haunted memories only spoken of to her and of the royals he serves as his angel does of her best to ease his pain and guilt giving him hope that maybe one day his father will look down upon his son once again in pride as he did that eve long ago when he struck his first breath of life.
