Phi's Books
Enchanter's Glass
By: Susan Whitcher
Summary: After a terrifying fall into the river, Phoebe Van der Clute emerges from the icy water gripping a chunk of broken glass. From the moment Phoebe sets the glass to her eye, nothing in her real world seems the same. Could the grouchy old Mr. Barnes be te wizard with a flaming beard? And that geeky boy, Tamas, suddenly shows up with horens and hairy legs like a goat. Strangeest of all, Phoebe herself seems to be changing into Britomart the Lady Knight.
"Hey, don't worry about it," says the Pink Princess, who used to be Phoebe's best friend. "This is, like, the Life of the Mind. It's not Real Life, see? You don't have to get so serious about it."
But to Phoebe, struggling to manage a balky warhorse of the suave Sir Paravent, her adventures feel uncomfortably real and increasingly dangerous, as well. [My note: This book is cooler than this description lets on...]
Phi's Review: **** (Four stars) I really liked this book, even though the beginning (to me, anyway...) seems a bit slow. It's worth it to read the whole thing, this is a very cool-spiffy book
