Build room
The first, second, third and now fourth garage this car has been built in! The move to the third one was hard...down from 80 m2 to 36 m2 :(

Rear Diff

Front hubs These are my hubs. Peter's are slightly different and probably lighter (see pic below)

Rear subframe and hubs
(the blue metal is a jig I've fabricated to hold the hubs in location, after cutting off the semi-trailing arm.
This is required while the dedeion tube is being welded on)

Rear caliper after cleaning servicing and painting

Chassis Construction
You may notice that we have angled the N tube down at the rear by 50 mm and moved the M tubes forward to meet with N. My oldest son couldn't resist testing the new car for size. The only reason I'm building mine now is so I get his right in about ten years !

The things clamped to the side of the frame are a pair of trolley wheels used to move the chassis around the garage

Front Cut
Well here it is. Good money spent on half a wrecked car!!!!

Front Suspension Brackets
Here's the jig we used to locate the front suspension brackets...made things a lot easier. Jig design sourced from yahoo.com Locost group

Seat/ Scuttle/ Steering
Here's a collection of pics covering the modified seat, scuttle tubes and placement of the steering column. You may notice the triangulation of the tunnel (thanks John R) and the gussets for the cabin H tubes (John's idea too, I think!)

(ps. anyone got a spare clamp?)

Pedals
Partially completed bottom mount pedals made from Mini pedal assembly and mounted in 50x50 rhs

Nose
This nose needs widening! Gotta love those chrome wishbones !!
(ps. I made some temporary tie rod extenders by cutting off the threaded section of some old tie-rods and then using threaded rod to join the extension to the tie-rod

Engine Fitting
Here we are fitting the engine/gearbox for the first time. The green tarp protecting the engine from a rain shower is our definition of "rain interrupted play!"

She Rolls!
After 12 months I now have a huge rolling go-kart and a big smile !

She Twists ...Not!
Here is the finished chassis in the torsion and beaming jig. She passed with flying colours!

Status Update June 2002
Here is the chassis clothed in cardboard templates. Its starting to look vaguely like a car.

Status Update August 2002
Here she is almost ready to start. You can see the two cars being built side by side. Prototype Headers nearing completion.
