The  Association  of Swimming Officials of the Philippines (ASOP) was
organized  on   January  5,  2003  by   members  of   former   Philippine
swimming teams to the Olympics,  national  swimmers,  and   swimming
enthusiasts.   The   organizers   are   frequently   involved   in  officiating
swimming events at the  divisional,  regional,  national  and  international
levels.  To  give  equal  opportunity  to  all  competing  swimmers,  they
strongly  felt  the  need  to  organize  a  group  that  will   help   improve
standardize swimming officiating in the country.
