Manning Rangers earned a place in the quarterfinals of the Rothman's Cup soccer competition on Sunday when they beat Mother City in a penalty shootout 4-3 after a a goalless match in perfect conditions at Cape Town's Athlone Stadium.

In the 8th minute, Liswa Nduti's low shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Ryan Wust. In the 18th minute, a good 1-2 between Gilbert Mushangazhike and Bruce Ramokadi saw the latter's shot from seven metres fly past the upright.
