Rangers confident over Rothmans debacle
The decision over who Manning Rangers will face in Sunday's Rothmans Cup 1st leg semifinal has still not been finalised. The independent arbitrator returned the matter to the PSL's Disciplinary Committee for a final decision.
Rangers' officials say that the match will probably be rescheduled for Sunday 21 while the second leg will follow on Wednesday November 24. Although no-one at Rangers will go on record, there is a feeling in the Mighty Maulers' camp that both Free State Stars and Jomo Cosmos will be expelled from the competion, giving the Durban side a free ticket to the final, which might be put back a week from December 4.
Rangers 'keeper Grant Johnson believes that the team is confident enough of victory no matter who they come up against. "We need to focus on winning the game, it really does not matter who we play against."
Should Rangers get a walkover, they will meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the final at a venue still to be decided after Sundowns emerged triumphant over Orlando Pirates in a volatile semi-final clash this weekend at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
