JoJo Somewhere in China, there lived Jojo and his trainer. The trainer was in his late eighties. They were street performers and that was how they made a living for so many years. People cheered and laughed whenever Jojo performed his tricks. "This monkey is surely amazing," someone said. Jojo was always glad when he finished his performances. He would offer his hat to the audiences, while they threw in their money. Everyone loved Jojo. He would be dressed up as an opera singer, a general, and many others. After each performance, his trainer would give him his favorite treat, a big red juicy grape. One day, the old man felt ill and decided to lie down for a little while. People noticed that Jojo had not been around to perform for a while. A kind and considerate neighbor decided to check on them. The person discovered that the old man was ill to the point that he too weak to talk or even to sit upright. The neighbor sent the old man to a nearby hospital. The old man never did recovered and died quietly in the hospital two days later. Jojo disappeared on the day his master was taken away. The whole village chipped in for the old man's burial. He was placed in the casket and his face was lightly covered with white makeup. Four villagers carried the casket down the long dirt road to the burial site, followed by the rest of the village. They passed by the spot where Jojo and the old man performed each day. Out of nowhere, there came a few loud shrieks. The people looked up and saw Jojo in his general's uniform. The poeple opened the casket for Jojo to see the old man's body. "Don't be too sad, Jojo," one of the pallbarer spoke. "We'll let you stay there for a little while." The little monkey did not move a single muscle. They decided to wake Jojo up, for it was time to go. "Jojo, wake up! We need to place him in his resting place." Still the monkey did not move. An individual decided to touch the monkey to awaken it. When he did so, he felt the little creature's body went completely cold. Then, he felt Jojo's pulse and found it was not there anymore. Poor little jojo had died in his trainer's arms. All of the village people shook their head in sadness and closed the casket lid. A voice among the group spoke out, "It's hard to believe that even a monkey as small as this can be this faithful..." THE END |

MONKEY ISLAND King Louie and his kingdom lived on this beautiful banana tree island somewhere off the South Pacific Ocean. King Louie was the wisest of all his monkey subjects, but unfortunately he was lousy in math. Every month, a human merchant would visit him to trade half or their crops of banana with half a crop of coconuts. This routine had been going on for quite sometimes, until the merchant decided to have a switch of plans. Actually, the person wanted to sell off the island to build a vacation resort with blocks and blocks of new hotels. One day, the merchant returned to propose a new plan to King Louie. "How about I give you 40% and you in return give me 60% of your bananas? King Louie thought for a moment and said, "Ok...you got a deal." A few months later, the merchant came again to propose another plan. "You give me 80% of your bananas and I give you 20% of the coconuts." "Okay," responded King Louie after thinking for an hour. The merchant came for the final time after another few more months. "You give me your entire island and in return I give you another land, a new home, and a banana each day." King Louie thought hard on the matter and accepted the offer. When the monkeys were all shipped off, the trees on the islands were all uprooted and replaced with a vast vacation resort. The monkeys along with King Louie went to their new home. The new homes were nothing but caves. King Louie looked at the cave and said, "That's what human called 'a Condo!'" Each day, a person would come to the cave and throw each of them a banana. From now on, whenever you visit a monkey in a zoo; just realize how the monkeys were easily tricked into the current situation with living arrangements in their so-called homes. THE END

TV World by Tiffany T. a.k.a Cool Blue (Feb. 11, 1995) Mandy passed by a store on her way home after work. A television set displayed inside a glass window caught her eyes, but Mandy felt a strong attachment to it. She decided to buy it. It was delivered to her apartment two days later. Mandy setted the television set on a stand an plugged it. She turned it on and sat down on her sofa. She flipped the channels back and forth with the remote control, trying to find something to watch. She decided to leave the television on one channel and wait for a good show to come on instead. Mandy got up from the sofa and went into the kitchen to get something to drink. During this time, the television screen gave out a bright flash. Everything on the screen turned white. Mandy returned from the kitchen and the television returned to normal. There was still nothing good to watch, but Mady left it on to keep herself company. For the next few days, Mandy repeated the same routine. She turned on the television just to keep herself company while she did other things. And the television would flash everytime she left to get something. One night, Mandy fell asleep on her sofa, tired from a long day of work. The television flashed and the screen turned white. A figure walked towards the front of the screen, revealing a very handsome man. He was dressed in a black tuxedo holding a dozen roses. He looked out at Mandy and watched her sleep. The wind blew in from her opened window and caressed her face and hair. He smiled and his dimples showed. Mandy woke and saw that the television was still on. She reached for the remote control, wanting to turn it off. She aimed the remote control at the television. "No, please don't turn off the TV!" a voice from the television screamed. Mandy's eyes widened as she stared closer to the television and realized that the person from the television was talking to her. She back away from it. "Please don't be frightened!" "You're talking to me?" Mandy asked. "But you're..." "I've been watching you for the last few days and I think I'm in love with you!" Many stood there speechless and motionless, so the man in the television reached out his hands to invite her in. She accepted his invitation, not knowing why she did. She placed her hands on his and was pulled into the television. He gently kissed her hands and stared into her eyes passionately. She smiled. He held on to her left hand and led her into the white area of the screen. The television suddenly turned off by itself. On the other side, there stood another world so beautiful that was known only to exist in fairy tales. Mandy found out that the man was the prince of this television world, and his name was Rick. Mandy fell in love with Rick and became the queen of this television world. They lived happily ever after... THE END |
