Hello! Welcome to my 'About Me' page!

My name is Christine, but please call me Christy. I'm 42 years old, twice divorced and live in the Ashland area of Kentucky. Just about where Kentucky meets Ohio and West Virginia. I moved here in January of 2006 from California, where I had lived my entire life.  I'm mom to one grown daughter, Emily She lives with her fiance in Ashland. I don't see her very often, but I do talk to her a couple times a week. I live with a small
Chinese Crested dog, named Tipsy Imperial Concubine. I named her after a miniature pink china rose.  I usually call her Tippy. She's great company for me. She is a little over 8 years now.  She's of the hairy hairless variety of the breed.

I am on disability. I have
Fibromyalgia as well as some mental health issues, mainly Major Depressive Disorder. I'm under the care of a couple fo very astute doctors and thanks to new medications I am doing a little better. I still function at a much lower level than I did before becoming ill, but it's not as bad as it has been.

To pass the time, I belong to a lot of email groups for different interests and hobbies. I do some swaps in the groups and have
my own group for swapping handmade magnets or 'fridgies'. I also swap 6" squares, bookmarks, snowflakes, dog sweaters and a few other things I can't think of right now.  I crochet, obviously. I have taken up plastic canvas needlepoint as well. I can't cross-stitch very well anymore due to pain in hands.

I read
mysteries, mostly British, historical, traditional and cozies. A few American cozies are included in my paperback collection. I watch old mystery and crime movies on DVDs that I buy from fellow collectors. Since the movies are so old, they are in the public domain so there's no copyright infringement.  I also listen to old-time radio shows sometimes and I listen to a lot of music.  Mostly I listen to Contemporary Christian music, but some secular stuff too.

I'm too sick to do any cooking or baking anymore, but I use to enjoy doing both. I even made my own blackberry jam and sewed some of my clothes and clothes for my daughter. I'm unable to do that now too. So much stuff I use to do that I can't do now, but I try to focus on what i can do and enjoy those activities.

I also collect
polar-philately. Right now I'm concenetrating on stamps with polar bears on them. I'm replacing a lost collection and am doing it very slowly. I also collect polar bear anything. My bedroom is decorated in polar bears and snowflakes. I don't have a very large collection right now, again most of my things were lost during a ill-planned and under-financed move.

The one collection I didn't lose was my crochet and plastic canvas patterns. I packed them in the mini-van, so they stayed with me. I'm so glad I did. I would have hated to lose them. I've amassed quite a collection over the years.

Well, I can't think of much else to tell you. Thanks for reading this far!

polar bear hugs, Christy
