Blue Thunder Drill Team
In our inagural year of the drill team, we have performed amazingly well. Our Drill and Ceremonies officer, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Kyle "Zinger" Zingo, is the commander of the inspection, Armed Drill Team Commander, Cadet Technical Sergeant Tim "Timmay!" Francis, Un-Armed Drill Team Commander, Cadet Captain Vinnie "Drill Master" Santiago, Color Guard Commander, 1st Lieutenant Brian "Watermelon Head" Carney, and First Year Un-Armed Drill Team Commander, Cadet Airman First Class Andrew Dumas. In the first competition, only one of our teams placed. The Un-Armed Drill team placed second in a heated battle of the Navy versus everybody else. Our second drill competition was our best. In this competition we added the First Year team. We took home two 1st place trophies, Inspection, Un-Armed Drill, and a 3rd place trophy for color guard and Armed Drill. In our third competition, it was once again Navy dominated. Although we did come home with two 1st place trophies; Un-Armed Drill and Armed Drill. Unfortunately the First Year did not place in any events. In the last event, the unbeatable Second Year un-Armed Regulation Team stole everything. Being defeated by only one team in its first meet. The Armed took third place, Color Guard took third place, and congradulations to the First Year Cadets for their spectacular performance taking Second! In the standings of that competition, the Blue Thunder Drill Team placed third overall!! Roll on Blue Thunder!!! ARGH!! (Not AROUGH!!!!!!)

"Unfortunately the year has come to an end for me. I now have memories that will never escape me of the drill team. The commradery that was built in it, the friendship, and most of all, the trophies!! First year cadets did an outstanding job. Second year had some stellar performances. I just hope I helped to make it all happen for you guys and girls. Many nights of endless drilling and my "MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKING". The feeling from the first competition when we got our second place trophy is still fresh in my mind. And when we were down at Lowell, the first places, the third places, are all still a feeling in me. You will all be phenominal next year if you keep working at it. You better send me pictures of you with the trophies when I'm in North Carolina!!
