FADE IN:

 

INT. - DRAKE’S HOUSE

We open the movie with the camera centered on a room; DRAKE is lying in his bed when his alarm goes off. Drake gets up calmly as can be and takes a shower. Next we see him walking down stairs. He then walks by his DAD who is lying in his own puke and beer cans. Drake leaves.

 

EXT. DRAKE’S HOUSE

He goes outside and starts walking. He arrives at a place called Wild Bill's Records and Tapes.  He enters

 

INT. WILD BILL’S RECORDS AND TAPES STORE

Drake turns the closed sign to Opened.

 

Drake: Bill. (He says softly) Hey Bill you here? (Louder)

 

Drake walks over to the counter and sees a note.

 

The Note: So this is your last day? Close the store when you see this. You can have the day off, you ever change your mind, you know you have a job with me.

 

Drake walks behind the counter and picks up the phone. He dials some numbers.

 

Drake: Hey, Vin. Yeah I'm all right. Listen can you pick me up, I got the day off. No, I am at the store. All right, bye.

 

Drake walks outside.

 

EXT. - OUTSIDE THE STORE

 

Time passes and VIN drives up. Drake gets in the car.

 

Drake: Hey man.

 

Vin: Hey Drake, isn't this your last day of work?

 

Drake: Yeah Bill left a note that said I had the day off.

 

Vin: Cool, Want to go see Jessica?

 

Drake: She's back in town?

 

Vin: Not IN town, but just outside.

 

Drake: Sure, why not, let's go.

 

Vin: Yeah right, "Why not". You know you want to see her.

 

Drake: Can we go? Drake and Vin drive away from the store.

 

EXT. DRAKE'S HOUSE - MID-DAY, SUN GOING DOWN

 

Vin and Drake drive up.

 

Drake: See you later Vin.

 

Vin: All right man.

 

Drake begins to walk up to the house when he hears His Dad's (Jessie) voice.

 

Jessie: Drake! Get in here, I need to talk to you.

 

Drake sighs, and walks into the house.

 

INT. - DRAKE’S HOUSE

 

Drake: What dad?

 

Jessie: I'd like to know what the hell is going on with you!

 

Drake: What do you mean?

 

Jessie: (Mocking Drake) What do you mean? I'll tell you what I mean. So today, I decide

to go get some groceries, guess who I see? Bill. Now Bill is under the assumption that today was your last day. Fill in the blanks please!

 

Drake: (Sighs again) Today was my last day because… I am moving.

 

Jessie: What?

 

Drake: Before you freak out, I made this decision long ago. I just decided the other day, that I am going to do it now.

 

Jessie: You're going to leave me here?

 

Drake: (getting angry) Dad, I am 23 Now! I HAVE to move! I have no life!

 

Jessie: Hey don't you raise you voice at me ass hole!

 

Drake: You know what? I think YOU are the ass hole!

 

Jessie begins to back off ass if to be shocked. He turns around, then quickly grabs a beer bottle and smashes it over Drake's head.

 

Drake is not on the ground, struggling to get up.

 

Jessie: How do you like me now boy? I got rid of your mother, and I can get rid of you!

 

Drake stops trying to get up.

 

Jessie: Yeah that's right! Except, you know what? I think I could beat your ass quicker than your mothers!

 

In a rage Drake uppercuts Jessie. Jessie goes flying onto a table, which is broken when he lands on it. Drake gets up slowly and then runs over to Jessie and begins to punch him with right and left hands. Drake gets up and we see that he has bloodied, and knocked out Jessie. Drake goes over to the phone, picks it up, and then dials 911. He then drops the phone when the 911 answers.

 

FADE IN:

 

(A FLASHBACK COMES ABOUT AND SHOWS DRAKE WHEN HE WAS 10, IT SHOWS HIS MOM AND DAD ARGUING AND HE WALK IN)

 

Mom: Can't you just stop drinking Jessie, for us please!

 

Dad: I don't give a damn about you or that little bastard!

 

Drake: Dad why don't you love me?

 

Dad: What?! Come here dammit!

 

Jessie grabs Drake and starts spanking his rear end, his mom says "Stop!," and tries to stop his dad by grabbing him and Jessie hits her in the face. Jessie then starts crying and saying he is sorry, but Drake keeps a cold stare on his dad.

 

DISSOLVE TO:

 

EXT. NIGHT, POLICE STATION

 

Drake is woke up by a Deputy.

 

Deputy: Mr. Valentine your father didn't press charges, so you are being released.

 

Drake: Okay.

 

Drake gets ready and leaves without a word, just as he had entered.

 

EXT. - STREET

 

Vin is outside.

 

Vin: Hey man what happened?

 

Drake: Long story.

 

Vin: What happened?

 

Drake: Me and My dad got in a fight. Let's go I don't wanna talk about it.

 

We see them walk up to the car and get in, with Vin never giving up.

 

INT. -CAR

 

Vin: How many times you have to hit him.

 

Drake: Man just drive.

 

Vin drives up to a house and gets out and Drake stays in the car

 

Vin: You coming?

 

Drake: Where are we?

 

Vin: Remember Jessica?

 

Drake: Yeah.

 

Vin: This is her house, come on.

 

INT. - STREET

 

Vin and drake walk up to the house and Vin knocks, Jessica opens the door and gets a shocked look on her face after seeing Drake, which turns to a smile.

 

Jessica: Drake! (Gives him a hug) Where have you been?

 

Drake: Around, how are you?

 

Jessica: Great, well come in guys.

 

INT. - JESSICA’S HOUSE

 

We see a nice house in which Jessica lives in, and they sit down.

 

Drake: When did you move into this nice place? (Jessica smiles)

 

Jessica: You think it's nice?

 

Drake: Have you seen my house!? Of coarse I think this place is nice! (Jessica laughs as

her and Drake lock eyes)

 

Vin: All right, come on guys.

 

Jessie: I am moving to California in a week that's why you're here right? (Drake has a

confused look on his face and looks a Vin)

 

Vin: What? You had to come see her before she left. (Defending himself)

 

Drake: It's all right, had nothing better to do.

 

Jessica: So you tell him about the party?

 

Vin: We got a party to go to tonight.

 

Drake: Hey I'm game.

 

FADE OUT

 

EXT. DRAKE'S HOUSE, NIGHT

 

Vin: You sure you don't want me to come in?

 

Drake: I can handle this.

 

INT. - DRAKE’S HOUSE

 

Drake walks in without knocking to see his dad on the couch, strangely Drake notices no

Beer bottles.

 

Jessie: Drake, Come here I want to talk to you.

 

Drake: (Walks up to him and sits down across from him) What?

 

Jessie: I am so sorry, for everything I have done. I am going to sober up and try and be

your dad---

 

At this point a look of disgust is on Drake's face, As he gets up and goes upstairs. Jessie looks saddened by it. Drake goes up to his room and packs a suitcase with anything that he can find. Then with it full he gently puts a picture of his mom between some clothes

Drake then walks downstairs.

 

Drake: Dad if you're going to be sober then do it for yourself, I am staying with a friend of mine. Bye.

 

Jessie: Wait---

 

Drake walks out the door without stopping to hear his dad

EXT. PARTY, NIGHT

 

Vin: Damn! So Drake, which one of these girls are coming home with me tonight?

 

Drake: (Chuckling) I don' know Vin, but I'm sure if she comes home with you, you'll need a paper bag!

 

Vin: Shut up man!

 

Drake: Ok, ok. So where is the bathroom in this place?

 

Vin: Upstairs, third door on the right.

 

Drake: All right, see ya when I see ya.

 

Drake goes up the stairs in a crashed house that the party has already left it's marks on, and goes to the third door on the right. Drake opens the door and it is a bedroom with a couple having sex, he startles them.

 

Drake: Ah, sorry wrong room.

 

He looks across the hall and sees the bathroom and goes in. Drake comes out of the bathroom and sees Jessica.

 

Drake: Hey Jessica. (He says loud)

 

Jessica: Hey Drake! You want a drink?

 

Drake: Yeah Sure.

 

Jessica: Come with me.

 

Jessica goes down stairs and takes Drake to the BASEMENT and walks up to the bar.

 

Jessica: So what'll it be?

 

Drake: (Smiling) I really don't care, just something.

 

Jessica: Well we got Beer, Beer, and Beer. So here is a beer for ya.

 

Drake: (Jessica hands it to him and he opens it) So where you been?

 

Jessica: Just doing stuff, having fun. This god-awful town doesn't offer a damn thing so I

stay outside it.

 

Drake: Your telling me? I am going to be so glad when I leave here.

 

Jessica: When are you leaving?

 

 

Drake: Soon as possible.

 

Jessica looks a little surprised and looks at Drake eye to eye.

 

Jessica: what happened to…us? (Drake looks closely at her)

 

Drake: Well besides one kiss I didn't think there was a "Us".

 

Jessica: That was a good kiss…

 

Jessica looks into Drake's eyes and kisses him without warning. Then Vin runs in looking surprised.

 

Vin: Cops! Cops!

 

Jessica and Drake get up and run upstairs with Vin. While running to the back of the house.

 

Vin: There is a dirt road to town in back, let's go.

EXT. HIGHWAY, NIGHT

 

Vin is driving calmly now, and Drake is in the front with Jessica in back.

 

Vin: Wait a sec, where you guys kissing when I found you?

 

Drake gets a simile on his face, as does Jessica.

 

Drake and Jessice: Yes.

 

Both Jessica and Drake say at once. Vin just shakes his head.

 

Vin: Just when I think I've seen it all.

 

FADE OUT

 

EXT. NIGHT, BEDROOM

 

We see Jessica and Drake lying in a bed, sleeping. The Clock says 9:00 p.m. As we look closer at Drake the screen fades to black.

FLASHBACK: We see Drake as a 12-year-old, walking into his house after school.

 

Drake: Mom! Mom, are you here?

 

Drake walks around looking for her. He walks into her room. He sees the gruesome sight of his mother bleeding from the head laying flat with a gun in her hand. Drake faints.

 

END FLASHBACK

 

Jessica: WAKE UP, WAKE UP Drake.

 

Drake: why, what, what?

 

JESSICE: You where screaming Drake, are you okay?

 

Drake: I just had a Dream.

 

Jessica: About what? (Drake freezes up and a tear comes to his eye)

 

Drake: When I was 12 years old…(Drake stops)

 

Jessica: What happened, you can tell me.

 

Drake: When I was 12, my mom committed suicide. I found her.

 

Drake begins to cry, Shocked Jessica holds him.

 

Jessica: It's all right, I'm with you now. I will never leave you.

 

FADE OUT

 

EXT. MORNING, KITCHEN

 

Drake and Vin are sitting down at a table. Vin is reading the newspaper and Drake is reading Spin Magazine.

 

Drake: Hey Vin.

 

Vin: Yeah?

 

Drake: I thought about what you said about us living together. Why don't we go to

California with Jessica?

 

Vin: With Jessica? Are you sure about that?

 

Drake: It was just a thought. But we will definitely leave Greenwood.

 

Vin: Definitely.

 

Drake starts reading his magazine

 

FADE OUT

 

EXT. AFTERNOON, LIVING ROOM

 

Drake walks up to Vin.

 

Drake: Hey Vin. I got my last paycheck yesterday. I had 2000 bucks stashed away and I need to get it.

 

Vin: Where is it?

 

Drake: You know where.

FLASHBACK

We see Drake at 16 driving up to his house. His dad comes out in amazement of the car he has.

 

Jessie: How did you afford this?

 

Drake: I saved up my money from working at the bank, it is pre-used.

 

Jessie: Very nice Drake, good job.

 

LATER THAT NIGHT

 

Drake: No.

 

Jessie: Son come on, I am your Father and I can drive your car.

 

Drake: Dad your drunk.

 

Jessie: Give me those Fucking keys NOW!

 

Drake hands over the keys to his car, and his dad speeds away

 

LATER THAT NIGHT

 

We see Jessie run up the stairs, and wake up Drake

 

Jessie: Drake! Drake! Wake up!

 

Drake: What?

 

Jessie: Drake the cops are after me! When they come cover for me!

 

Drake: Why are they after you?

 

Jessie: I was driving your car on the freeway when all of the sudden, a cop pulled out in front of me. I totaled the car…. But that's not what matters--- (Drake is shocked)

Drake: No! No, No, No, No, you didn't wreck my car, please tell me you didn't wreck my car!

 

The Doorbell rings and Drake goes downstairs. He opens the door

 

Drake: I know why you are here, he is upstairs.

 

 

Policeman: If your name is Drake Valentine then we are here for you.

 

Drake looks confused

 

Drake: What? What did I do?

 

Policeman: You wrecked your car and left the scene.

 

Drake: That was my dad I swear.

 

Policeman: Really, why don't you come with us.

 

Drake thinks of taking a run upstairs. But ultimately surrenders. He leaves peacefully.

 

FADE OUT

 

EXT. DRAKE'S HOUSE - MIDDAY

 

Vin and Drake pull up. Drake gets out and walks up to the house, and goes in. He first

goes and gets his money. Then comes downstairs

 

Drake: Dad! Where the Fuck are you!

 

Jessie: In here.

 

We see that Jessie has a gun in his hand and has had too much to drink

Drake: What the hell are you doing?

 

Jessie: I am going to kill myself, because of you!

 

Drake: Your going to kill yourself, really? Just do it then!

 

They look eye to eye as Jessie puts the gun to his head. He looks at drake and puts the gun down.)

Drake: See! That's what I thought! You're just a pussy! You can abuse a Mother and child but you can't put a gun to your head and pull the trigger!

 

Jessie: Why do you hate me? (He says sympathetically) Why?

 

Drake: You made me.

 

Jessie: This is the last time I say sorry, but I am sorry.

 

Drake: Oh sorry, sorry, sor---

 

Jessie shoots himself in the head.

EXT. NIGHT, JESSICA'S HOUSE

 

 

Drake: Jessica! Are you awake?

 

Jessica: Yes, what happened to you.

 

Referring to the blood all over Drakes shirt

 

Drake: My dad killed himself.

 

Jessica: What? (Drake pulls away.)

 

Drake: I need to be alone a while.

 

FADE OUT

 

EXT. HOTEL, NIGHT

 

Vin & Drake pull into a hotel.

 

Vin: Are you sure you want to stay in a hotel?

 

Drake: We are leaving in 5 days, I want 3 to myself.

 

Before Vin can say anything else Drake gets out.

EXT. DRAKE'S HOUSE, MORNING

 

Drake gets dropped off at his house by a cab.

 

He pays the cab driver and gets out. He walks slowly to his house, almost as if he is hesitant to go in. There is police tape on the door. He slowly walks into the house to see a cleaned up version of it.

 

INT. - DRAKE’S HOUSE

 

He walks upstairs and goes into his dad's room. As he walks towards the closet we see the framed photos of his dad and mom. His mom never quite smiling in any of them. Drake opens the closet and grabs a box. He sits on his dad's bed and opens it. It is filled with pictures and videotapes. He brings it down stairs. One tape labeled "Drake's 1st birthday" and another labeled "Christmas 1990". But he stumbles upon an unmarked tape and it seems unfamiliar, so he puts it into the VCR.

 

The tape starts off with Drake as a kid showing his Christmas presents to the camera. And his mom on the couch smiling.

 

Jessie: (Taping the event) Get the glove Drake. Show the camera the glove.

 

Drake grabs the glove and stands up. He puts it on and says thank ou to his dad.

 

Jessie: Michelle, open your present! I know you'll like it!

 

Drake: Yeah mom! Open dad's present!

 

Michelle: Oh all right!

 

She gets up and grabs the present and opens it quickly.

 

Drake's Mom frowns as she begins to see what she got, she gets up and puts the makes the camera face the ground.

 

Michelle: (Whispering) Why didn't you just give this to me another time? I don't want Drake to see these thongs!

 

Jessie: (Yelling) Don't you ever talk to me like that! If I want my son to see thongs he will see them!

 

Michelle: Jessie stop it!

 

Jessie drops the camera and it stops recording.

EXT. - HOTEL

 

We see Drake exit his hotel room, get in a cab, and leave. Drake pulls up to Jessica's house. He goes in without knocking.

 

INT. - JESSICA’S HOUSE

 

He walks up stairs and hears Jessica moan. He runs into the room to see Vin and Jessica Naked, in a bed.

 

Jessica: I can explain!

 

Vin: Yeah we weren't---

 

Drake:  How could I not see this coming. You see, it is a proven fact, that everything good in my life gets taken from me. So I wont be seeing you around. Bye, and Fuck you both.

 

Drake walks out of the room and sees Vin's keys and takes them. Drake speeds away in Vin's car.

 

DISSOLVE TO:

Drake pulls up to his house. He goes in. Goes right into the garage and finds some gasoline. He pours the gasoline all over the living room. He then lights it on fire and leaves. We see the house begin to burst into flames as Drake leaves.

EXT. - MOBIL STATION

 

Drake pulls into a gas station that night.

 

Employee: How much you need?

 

Drake: Fill it up with premium.

 

Employee: 20.36 please.

 

Drake speeds off without paying. We now see that Drake is going 80 miles an hour, and asking for trouble.

 

Drake: Come on god! You take my mother and leave me all alone! My friends are all I got and you let them turn on me! Fuck You! Fuck You! Drake's car goes out of control and is hit by a Diesel Truck. The car is totaled as we fade out.

 

DISSOLVE TO:

 

INT. - NOTHINGNESS

 

We see Drake walking in a black room. He looks very confused as to what has happened to him. We then see a white light appear and Drake walks toward it. Close-up on Drake's face shows a tear as we walks toward the light.

 

The screen goes to BLACK.

 

FADE IN:

 

EXT. - CEMEMTERY

 

We see several Graves and people morning. Close-up on the tombstone shows the name Drake Valentine on one tombstone. Then we go to the next and see Jessie Valentine right next to it. We then see the people at the funeral. A close-up on Jessica & Vin holding hands, with out any emotion. They then turn around and walk away from the scene, as if to not want anything to do with Drake.

 

DISSOLVE TO:

 

Jessica walks outside from a Doctors office, with a shocked look on her face. She walks up to Vin.

 

Jessica: Vin I need to tell you something.

 

Vin: What?

 

Jessica: I'm Pregnant.

 

Vin: How? We've been using condoms!

 

They look at each other with confusion. There is a long silence.

 

Vin: Drake?

 

We pullback as Vin and Jessica have blank looks on their faces.
