We also had videos of Clapton's concert's on a big Videowall before, and in-between band sets, making it a really special BLUES SESSIONS presentation. All this is in line with our plans to add more goodies for all pinoy blueslovers. Thanks to THE DOCTOR for the nice intro and for making this all possible. NO thanks to PAUL LIM ( joke only Paul!) for charging me for the video wall. There was NO entrance charge which has been the case with the BLUES SESSIONS live shows since the start and hopefully we can continue this way..., but heck man, anything for the upliftment of the blues!!! |
It was the BLUES SESSION'S first offering for 2001, and what better way to start it than with a tribute to a true Bluesman, who, I can safely say, is one of the biggest contributors to bringing about the recognition and respect, for the many black blues legends, many of whom, sadly, were not able to see the fruits of the tree that they had planted - BLIND LEMON, BLIND WILLIE McTELL, SON HOUSE, LEROY CARR, JOSH WHITE, ROBERT JOHNSON, SCRAPPER BLACKWELL, WILLIE MABON, MUDDY WATERS, JOHN LEE HOOKER, SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON, SAM CHATMON, BO DIDDLEY, BESSIE SMITH, MA RAINEY, WILLIE DIXON, B.B. KING and many more, and yes, many whose names may never be known. |
We celebrated Slowhand's birthday a day earlier, uhhhh, it's the Philippines, so make that 2 days earlier. It was held at KRAKATOA , a new spot along the famous Mabini St. |

THANKS TO AN OLD FRIEND Pictures of the show are courtesy of my kumpare and fellow Rockjock Bobby "The Unicorn" Mayuga who just happened to be in town at the time, making it also an extra special reunion, coming all the way from down under. Some shots are a bit hazy, maybe the UNICORN's jet-lag, or was it the volcanic juice?. Lava blues??? Also thanks to THE DOCTOR for making it all possible. |
