a mess of BLUES!!!
The Photos
Taken outside the you-know-what in Baguio City, during the Holy Week vacation in 1976. That's me talking to a Military SGT. in civvies, along with Howlin' Dave who is partly covered by Sarge. Imelda, Howlin's first wife. & Indian T. behind her. Peeping out the window is Angie (lot-lot) and Liway Geronimo, & the other jocks and friends. Holy Week was the only time all of us announcers could go out of town as a family, since almost all radio stations in the Philippines go OFF THE AIR for 3 to 4 days.
Another afternoon at the famous TOWER of RJ-AM, those were the days when I was boozing heavily, notice my bloated size? That's Peque Cui on board and to his right is a fan from the Bureau of Internal Revenue named Berlin.
The Rock Of Manila Band LIVE!!! yup, that's us at the rooftop in Sta. Mesa during one of the RJ Group of Companies Christmas Parties...(L-R) Bob Magoo; Stoney Burke; The Madman; The Mole; AA; Ralph Ding
This is the whole bunch, jocks, wives, and the office personnel on a bus to Puerto Azul Beach Resort in Ternate, Cavite in what would be another one of those wild company gatherings.
That's Double A with one of the country's top legal mind's, Lawyer and TV talk show host, KATRINA LEGARDA. Katrina  was once part of the RJ-FM 100.3 air-team.
Brother Becky in 2002!!! still cute as always, with Barbara "NOVEMBER 27" Balce. This was taken at the NU107 Radio Station,  during Becky's visit to Manila in July 2002, were Cousin Hoagy thought of holding the welcome party on his show, "CROSSROADS"
A rare photo that I took, of then head-honcho (80's & 90's ) of CHR radio station 99.5RT, EMILIO " E. T." TUASON. I did a stint there as Production Director, then eventually became Station Manager, all in a span of 3 years. This was all during the turbulent months going into the downfall of MARCOS, then the fleetingly short, ecstatic weeks of the 86 Philippine "EDSA" Revolution. Then into the coup-infested first months of President CORAZON AQUINO.
This was taken anytime between  1971-72, one of only two pictures from my DZUW days. The place was Captain Hooks house. From left is Ronnie "Baby John" De Asis; Mike "Stoney Burke" Llamasand me when I was 15 or 16.
The Head Physician and The DOCTOR
Every picture tells a story...
This is Gwen Bismark of RJ-FM together with her brother, Chuck, who really played good blues harp. Chuck was one of my inspirations to play the blues harp, The first time I caught him performing, was at the International School in Makati with the Makati Avenue Blues Band. This was the start of the 70's. It was a time of student unrest, grave abuses by people in authority, Drugs, alcohol, political turmoil, greed,  and the many evils that were beginning to be injected into the veins of the Philippines. The negative results of which we, us filipinos,  are now only starting to feel.
Barbara "NOVEMBER 27" Balce,  and Magoo at the Welcome party / interview of BROTHER BECKY at NU 107...Damn weird man,  Becky being welcomed on another radio station, not DZRJ.
BEN YANTO , head-honcho of the website PINOYCLASSICROCK.COM, by his Mustang,  which I did a little makeover on.  I added his website's call letters in a psychedelic twisted flavor.
This was taken at the San Beda College auditorium during a mini-concert hosted by Howlin' Dave and myself. That's us with Delilah, then Dante's better-half and their son, Adam.
This was taken backstage at PULP Magazines's SUMMER SLAM concert in 2002. The DOCTOR and his patient, Barbie, of BARBIE'S CRADLE. I'm just the innocent bystander.
This is a treasured picture, of me (seated on the right holding a tomato doll we got from pancho's house. My airname then was "PINK TOMATO")  with PANCHO LAPUZ,  aka "CAPTAIN HOOK", a great human being with a nice heart and wit to boot! That's the HOOK on the left looking like a BLUES BROTHER long before the movie, since this shot was taken around 1972 or 73, at the HOOK's backyard. The long-haired guy standing is a friend, Manny Fernandez.
The UNICORN, STONEY BURKE, and DOUBLE A at the door of the R.B.N. office somewhere in the J&T building, along Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa, Manila. (mid-1970's)
ARANETA COLOSEUM - ASIN, backstage at the 40th Anniversary Concert of DZRJ, October 25, 2003
COWBOY, son of Pinoy Rock Legend SAMPAGUITA. Probably thinking about a million things prior to going onstage to back up his Mom. COWBOY plays a mean Lead Guitar and promises to follow her Mom's footsteps to the top. ARANETA COLOSEUM, OCTOBER 25,2003, DZRJ's 40th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT
ASIN backstage in the Pinoy Rocker's dressing room during the 40th Anniversary concert of DZRJ October, 2003. Yep, that's Joey "Pepe" Smith striking a classic pose for my camera.
[LEFT PIC]
Emmy Fortuno (wife of the late Edmond "Bosyo" Fortuno) and LOLITA (Asin) belting it out at the tribute concert for Emmy's late husband

Lolita and BLUE half of our "Blues Brothers" Twins - Alabat Island in Quezon, 1981
From left to right: Ramon "The DOCTOR" Zialcita, Bobby "The UNICORN" Mayuga and MAGOO at the Eric Clapton tribute held at the now dead and gone, KRAKATOA, which was then located in Mabini St. in Ermita
That's the one and only "PAMBOY" or LOURDES. The little sister of  LOLITA CARBON of ASIN. We were fooling around under the garnd piano at the CINEMA AUDIO Recording Studio during the recording of ASIN's recording of the album "HIMIG KAYUMANGGI"
This was taken on the day of the famous PINOY ROCK & RHYTHM "Live" at the LOYOLA STADIUM back in '77 or '78.  That cassette deck right behind me, would you believe?, recorded "Live" backstage in the dressing room, BANYUHAY rehearsing the song "Giyera".  I was so blown away by the song, that the next day, I transferred it to a tape cart and aired it on the PR&R show. Even with the tape hiss and other noise very audible in the background, the quality was okay for the AM airwaves. To BANYUHAY's and my surprise, "Giyera" turned out to be an unexpected hit among DZRJ's listeners! Today the song, which is now missing, maybe erased, or hopefully just misplaced, ranks as one of PR&R's classic recordings.
THE BOYS performing at the DZRJ Music Festival. From Left: JOEY MAURILLO; the late ERIC VELARDE and BUBOY DAROMAL
Another shot of The BOYS warming up the stage before LOLITA steps in. This one was taken at Alabat Island in Quezon.
Now-defunct Hard rocking band, THE BREED. Taken during the benefit concert for Howlin' Dave back in 1992. Proceeds went to help Howler's brain tumor operation. On vocals is Charlie Ysmael.
The ROCK OF MANILA Band, yup, that's us frustrated musicians-turned-discjockeys performing at the DZRJ MUSIC FESTIVAL way back 1983. On drums: Ralph Ding; Magoo in red and vocals/harp; Little Rock on Lead Guitar in white t-shirt; Raphael on rhythm; Alfred "The MADMAN" on vocals and in the yellow outfit; and extreme right, Bob Sellner on Flute and back-up vocals.
That's me in the yellow t-shirt, jamming on harp with the FRICTIONS band in Olongapo City, when the Philippines was still host to the Subic Naval Base.
Joey "Pepe" Smith with ATOM HENARES, head honcho of NU107 during the NU ROCK AWARDS where he was given the LEGEND award.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime jam that happened sometime 2004 at KIDD CREOLE (now closed) at the Greenbelt in Makati City. That's WALLY GONZALEZ of JDLC at far left, and a very rare public appearance of WALTER WIRTH of PETRIFIED ANTHEM on the right adjusting a knob on his Gibson. In the middle doing slide is DR.TED, part-owner of CREOLE. The two guitar legends sharing the stage that night was unexpected and simply magic, and for those present, a not-to-be-forgotten event in Pinoy rock music.
LYNN LIPMAN aka "LIPPY", One of the original RJ Dudettes went on board at DZUW when it was newly bought by DZRJ, that's me on the right. Sometime 1974.
This Photo came out in a Jingle Magazine issue sometime in the 70's. The backdrop is the DZRJ Tower, and the shot was taken from the 8th floor rooftop where we use to hold a lot of concerts. The drawing was done by Howlin' Dave.
Jammin' on harp with one my favorite local bands, THE JERKS. This was taken at the HOBBIT HOUSE in Malate during Bobby Mayuga's ("The UNICORN") 2006 vacation from down under. This was from the 2006 2nd Rockjock reunion.
