A scruffy looking pre-Miami Vice Don Johnson (yes, him!) falls head over heels for Nora Aunor, a UCLA exchange student. He gets to sing the Carpenters' "Close to You" in a duet with her while riding a boat in a Los Angeles lagoon. In one of those melodramatic plot complications, Nora's American sponsor who's her boyfriend's father turns out to be also her father. Shot guerilla-style in California, this popcorn movie also stars Cocoy Laurel and Davey Jones of Monkees fame.
