TESTIMONIALS ON THE TYROS REGISTRATIONS
Hello Dave,
I've been very busy lately, and haven't had time before now to explore your registrations, but WhHHHHhhhOOOOOOOW! MY GOD! Some of the registrations are just phenomenal!   I can use many of these without any corrections. You know everything about how to create useful combinations of instruments and individually tuning_pitching_delays and mixing - one, two or even three instruments together in a perfect harmony.   I'm very sorry that I was rather "layed_back" and not convinced the first time I talked with you, because this thing just can't be done better!!
I've been sitting with my Tyros for about 6 hour now and just tried the different registrations along with my own .sty and my left hand reg. and most of it just took my breath away!! STUNNING!
I can hardly believe my ears.   It is soooo fun playing these tunes now so I can't go to bed for several days, LOL.
I want to say thank you very much for this fabulous present, and am very happy that there happen to be some people out there, _like you_ that are kind enough to share their several hundred hour's of hard work with other people like me.   I just couldn't create all these by myself, because it is too difficult for me too handle!!
Once again, THANK YOU DAVE! you have brought my Tyros to an even higher level. This is great!
Best regards
Steinar
(Steinar Brevik, Oslo, Norway)
Thank you so much Dave!It worked perfectly! These registrations must have taken you a long time to do! A lot of work I am sure...but from what I can tell...you love playing keyboard. :)
Thank you again!
Lauren G., U.S.A., Tyros owner
Hi Dave.....Thanks a million..... All Regs, and styles are "Locked & Loaded" !!!
They sound great! WOW! What a difference......
Thanks Again,
Tom
(Tom Snyder, Pennsylvania, USA)
Hi Dave,A million thanks for responding very quickly.
I tried several of the reg. you sent, and they are amazing!!!  I wish the professionals could learn from you on how to get the real sound out of the keyboard.   I'll definitely use these for adding OTS on my styles.  I really like the modern touch, finally this is what I am looking for.
As a token of my gratitude, I am not sure if you have this already in your collection, I attached the ones from Yamaha.  They are nothing compared to yours.   Maybe they should commission you instead to make registrations for them?
Again thanks a lot!!! I sure will keep in touch.
Warmest regards,
Norie
(Norie Van Ophem, Holland)
Hi Dave, thanks for the registrations.  I haven't tried them all yet, but the ones I have tried are fantastic.   You've put a lot of work into creating them and it probably took you a long time to complete them all.  Thanks also for the useful links to getting styles for my other keyboards.
Regards,
John

Dave,I have only listened to a few registrations, but I was impressed. I never imagined that such sounds were in my machine. You are to be congratulated... There are some very creative things going on with some of these...

Dear Dave,
I have taken a quick stroll through your Tyros reg files. I did not realize just how many effects it is possible to utilize in a reg file. The first thing that struck me was your use of stereo separation to enhance the sounds -- mind blowing stuff with headphones on.
Some very interesting combinations of voices too. I will try to salvage the non working files by tweaking them a bit.
You have opened my eyes to the many possibilities for which I am grateful. Should you construct any more in the future I would love to receive them.
Best wishes,
Steve
(Steve Todd)
Dave,Regs arrived OK many thanks for all your efforts.
Have tried out quite a few and are amazed at the patience that it takes to construct. I am still trying to get my head round the instrument as I think one needs to be a computer buff as well as a music mystro! (One I tried had a very effective whistling sound but I will spend hours experimenting with your effects).
Thanks again

Dave,I'm playing them right now!!!   You do terrific work!   Thanks so much!
George
Let me add to what I said [above] because I was having so much fun with your registrations that I could only write a brief note.   Not only did I love what you produced, but it also opened my eyes, ears, and mind.I had just gotten the Tyros, and your registrations showed me how incredibly versatile the machine is.   For example, you used effects I didn't know the Tyros had -- you used the harmonizer in ingenious ways -- you showed me that the number of styles and arrangements can be multiplied exponentially.
You made me feel even better about my purchase of a Tyros.  (I have a Korg i30, which I love, and wondered whether I should spend so much for a "similar" keyboard.)   After adding your registrations, I realized that the two keyboards aren't that similar.   Tyros wins -- period.   Anyway, I actually mean all of what I said, and much of this was generated from using your registrations.
Thank you very much!!

Hi Dave - this is Johanna again.   Its only 45 mins since I sent the first email.   The attachment worked fine!   Downloaded the zipped collection onto one disk (already had winzip) and used 2 disks for the other 2 downloads. Have run thru half of them and the sounds you have created are fantastic - that stereo effect - well just never heard anything like it.  I notice, however - like you said - that the 'piano' part on many of them doesn't play, but hey, I just pressed the 'orange button' to turn it on - and its there - so - 'no worries' - that's ok.  I l-o-v-e country music so am delighted to see so many country rhythms - so I will say cheerio for now as I can't wait to explore all of them and THANK YOU.

(1st letter)Hi Dave,
All the fantastic testimonials makes me eager to get your registrations.   My main keyboard is actually the TYROS.  But I would appreciate if could send me your registrations for TYROS (if possible already converted) and for PSR 9000.  Thank you so much and I will let you know my opinions.
Thanks in advance.
Martin S. (Switzerland)
(2nd letter)Hi Dave,
Fantastic it works wonderfull on both instruments.  It is really amazing how you can add value to the instrument just by adding these registrations.   Actually I wanted to sell my PSR 9K after I bought Tyros.  But with these registrations I am still in two minds about it.
I am convinced, that also in Tyros there is a lot to be discovered yet and I am using just a small part of the whole potential which might be hidden in it.  Unfortunately I have not enough spare time to learn the basics in order to get more virtuosity in all these parameters.
Anyhow I thank you very much for your gift and the quick responsiveness.  Should I have some more suggestions to make I will let you know.
All the best and thanks again

Hello Dave,I've got your registrations and I love them.  I never knew that a Tyros could make such amazing sounds!

Hi DaveIt's Laurie here again, the free registrations that you so kindly sent me were installed into my Tyros keyboard without a hitch.  Allthough I have not been through them all, the one's that I have sound great.
Thanks for all of the information and time that you have put into your website, and I will from time to time log on to see what other marvelous things you have for me.
Thanks again,
Laurie.

Hi Dave, that's what I call a quick service!  I immediately installed the registrations on my Tyros and since that it's even harder to get my fingers off the keys (I only had to interrupt my playing to write this mail ;-)).
As you can see I think you've done a great job.  I really appreciate that you share your cool registrations with the keyboard community - most people would sell their work - you do it for free and by that you make sure that even people with a limited budget can get more out of their keyboard.  Thanks.
Keep up your good work!

Hi there!Tanks for the regs, i must say you have done a great job.
I think i can use a lot of the sound in my tyros and i am so greatful for your kindness. I like the sound on bank 63_3E number 1........i already used in my latest song!
We are about to go to the studio so i gonna include it on the new CD.
Best regards,

Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2004 06:56:09 +1000Thanks Dave for the mind blowing registrations for my Tyros.  I had no trouble downloading them and installing on my Tyros hard disc.
They certainly add a new dimension to the instrument.  I will certainly obtain your other registrations for the Tyros as I am sure they will be terrific.  I live on a remote cattle station in Queensland Australia and my music and keyboard playing is my sole relaxation and hobby.  Keep up the good work and thanks a million,

WHEN YOUR NEW REGISTRATIONS
DON'T SOUND RIGHT
(I had sent my Registrations to an old web pal a few days before, and as usual I asked him for some "feedback."   Today he reported back, very discouraged):

Dave,
I guess this will be the end of a great friendship.  I downloaded your registrations to my HD.   Spent 3 hours reviewing all the registrations. While there were a couple good ones but they seem to be duplicated.   Most are not useable, Vol and DSP adjustments are needed and I don't have time for that.   I know you put a lot of hard work into this project but they do me no good on Tyros.   Thanks anyway for trying to help.   For that I'm most greatful.
Vinnie
(After reading this, I knew something was wrong, so I sent him a few "tips" like: (1) Read the instructions, (2) Keep the "Accompaniment" turned on, and (3) Turn on the Accompaniment Freeze so that you can change styles easily.
Several hours later I got another email from him):

Dave, Dave, Dave,
My Dad always told me that when all else fails, READ THE DIRECTIONS.  The freeze button did the trick.   Wooooo!!!!   Great registrations that apparently will open up a whole new world for me on Tyros.   I think what you have done is provided me with registrations that I need and like but don't have time or talent to do myself.   I'm sorry for my preliminary adverse remarks and thanks for helping me.   I'll provide a comprehensive review for this batch when I'm through having fun playing.   Thanks again,
Vinnie
"Hallo, Davemany, many thanks.

Bernd
(Bernhard Peters, Germany)[A 2nd email request came in from Bernhard four months later... wanting Registrations for his new Tyros.]
Hi DaveWell where do I begin!
They are just great.   I am using a Tyros and although about half do not come out what is on there is just excellent.
I particularly like what you have done to the strings sounds such as on Bank 15 and 18 and these alone have taken my enjoyment of Tyros to new heights.  Then there are some great sax mixing on Bank 19 and, my all time favourite instrument, the pan flute, gets some lovely mixing on Bank 23_16.  Guitar sounds are also important to me so I was impressed with what I could now get out of various registrations and would single out Bank 32 as my favourite for guitar - so far.
You have crammed so much into these files I know I still have some discoveries to make, but that is something I shall look forward over the coming weeks as I dabble with the registrations.  I can not criticise what you have done Dave - and they are free.  I am told there is no such thing as a free lunch but you have proven that to be a myth.  Well done.
I see from your web site that you have or are launching some more registrations to buy - once they are out I would be interested to purchase some and see what they do to me and the Tyros.
Many thanks for the registrations.
Regards
Will
(Will Gaskell, UK)
Dave,I've never heard anything like these in my life. I didn't know my Tyros was capable of sounding this good, please let me know if you make any more of these.
Roberto
(Roberto Novarro, Spain.)
Thanks a million for the free registrations.  I had no trouble with the unzipping process, and none with loading them into the Tyros via a floppy.  I have briefly run trhough the banks and as you said, some did not work at all or not properly.  These I have deleted, and the good ones have been moved to the user memory via the copy/paste routine.  I am very happy with the results, and mostly the registrations sound great.I have been studying your web pages and read about the new registrations especially made for and on the Tyros, you name them "All-new Pipelinerr Tyros registrations".  If you say thgey are even better than the free registrations then I must have them.  However I don´t seem to be able to find instructions on how to order them so maybe you can help me out there.  I am quite willing to pay by electronic bank transfer with my Visa card.
Anyway keep up the great work.... why on earth should I try to make registrations when you have the know how and make such great ones.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Best regards
Philip
(Philip Cardinaal, Denmark)
Dear Dave,God bless ya mate!
I received the registrations and can honestly say that they have made an incredible instrument even more so.
Compared to the regs. inbuilt into the Tyros yours really are stunningly superior and I would just like to thank you for putting in all the work and effort you have done and then to give them away for FREE!!
Although, one downside:
I played about with them so much on Monday evening that when I looked at my watch it was 4.30 in the morning!!I thought I had better have at least a couple of hours sleep - but I overslept and was late for work (and I'm a teacher!!)
Thanks again Dave, can't wait for the new ones.
Take care and kindest regards,
Al Clegg
(Australia?)
Hi Dave,
Thanks for promptly sending me a set of your registrations.  I received both copies and had no trouble unzipping them and loading into the Tyros.
First I need to explain that my taste in sounds is influenced heavily by the kind of music I play and enjoy.   I am a retired 65 year old who plays big band music, light country and ballads like My Way, After the Lovin, etc., hence I lean towards acoustic instrument sounds.
I have not done any sound "Tweaking" or creation like you have.   I tried it briefly with my computer but found it too daunting.   That’s one reason I was happy to get your sounds.
I have had my Tyros for about 4 months and LOVE it.   I use the registrations extensively for setting up for songs.
I was happy to find about 40 sounds in your collection that I really like and can use in my gigs.  THANKS.
I also found a lot of your registrations very clever and interesting. You certainly know how to use the hardware and software and have a great musical imagination.
I want to thank you very much for sharing your talent and work with your fellow musicians.   Much appreciated!
Cheers
Kris
(Kris Kristjansen, Denmark)
Hi Dave,I have spent a lot of time playing your regs and they are excellent, great selection and even though converted from the 9000 to the Tyros they are all very good.
They are giving me much more to play with now.  Thanks again for the effort Dave.

(Iago Bucceli, Italy)
Hi Dave,Allthough I haven't yet managed to check every single registration, I think that most of them are just great. You have made a lot of inspiring combinations of voices and I think that many of them should be very useful to me. I'm looking forward for the new ones (made ON a Tyros as you said).
Keep doing that thing my friend, because not every one of us has the ability or the time or even the inspiration to do so...
Best wishes,
Spyros
(Spyros Tsimouris, Athens, Greece)
I successfully retrieved your registration on the Tyros, I haven't got time to listen to all, but so far that I've heard, it's really fantastic.   Thanks for sharing your great work with us.   Looking forward for more!
Natalia
(Natalia Devi, India)
Dave,Thanks for your download and it sure makes playing the tyros more enjoyable, if that is possible.

Hi Dave,Thanks again for sending me the Registrations. I'm back from holydays now and of course very busy exploring my new TYROS.
I must have done something wrong the first time, but now they all work very good!
Some very nice Registrations are included - they sound marvellous. Lots of material to experiment with, too.
Thanks again,
Regards,
Willy Provinciael, Tyros Owner
Dear Dave,Thanks very much for the registrations. I am sorry I did not reply sooner, but I am working hard for my Saturday Concert at Folkestone Bandstand with my group, the Ken Sharples Singers.
I must say that I thought the registrations were absolutely superb, and I only wish I could get mine to sound like yours.   Problem I have is that I buy styles, and the latest for Tyros dont have One Touch Settings attached to them -- and it causes me mega grief -- superb style -- and my efforts to create OTS is pure crap !
Thanks again for the registrations

Hi Dave,I've been away for a couple of days. Yesterday I had the opportunity of loading some of your registrations (new sounds) on my Tyros.   Some of them impressed me very much, and I will surely use them in my live performances.  I found one or two that do not seem to work correctly, but overall I am very happy with the results!   I realize how much work is involved, and appreciate your kind generosity in sharing your efforts with other Yamaha users/owners.
Thanks again for sending your registrations.   I will not hesitate in sending further comments about your work, if they come to my mind while using these terrific new sounds.
Best wishes from Portugal,
-- José
Dave,Thanks for the registrations... I loaded them last night and had hours of fun trying them out.   Even on the Tyros most worked and provided some combinations of sound I had not heard before, so thanks again, and I'll have a look at the other sites you mentioned.
Kind Regards,
John
(JLT)
Dave,Just an E-mail to say a big thank you for letting me share your registrations. They are excellent and certainly make a keyboard sound much better than the original sounds with the use of harmony, panning and effects which really enhance the overall sound.
Having heard what you have done to the sounds of the 9000, and I being an ex-9000 man, I must say that the Tyros leaves the old 9000 standing.  The new Tyros is one of the finest musical instruments that has ever been produced.  With your inspiration I have now started tweaking in the mixing console and it has made a great deal of difference to the overall brightness of the instrument.
Once again many thanks, and if you do some tweaking on the Tyros, please put me on your list.
All the very best.
Roy
(Roy Parkinson, U.K.)
Received your Pipelinerrs free registrations and installed them this afternoon and had a great time previewing and playing them.   Having a Tyros of course had it's limitations without the user voices but all in all a great learning experience in studying your tweaks and effects applications. It is a very worthwhile venture that you did with these files and helpful to folks who want to learn.   Thanks for making them available and I look forward to further investigations into the inner workings of the files.   I am a play it by ear kinda fella who enjoys lots of different kinds of styles of music but I tend to migrate towards Country, Country Pop, Country Rock so really enjoyed some of your guitar tweaks and will find them useful for future songs.   Thanks again for making your files available.

Hi Dave,I had no problem getting the registrations from your Email attachment.   The ones I've tried so far work great with the exception of a couple, and you warned about that.   I love the variety of sounds you have produced.   I know you say that anyone can do this, but you have a great imagination.   Thank you for sending these.   They have already let me see some of the possibilities with my new Tyros.   I'm very anxious to try them all and begin to use them in my music.
Again, thanks for sharing your talents.
Regards,
Ron Rosen
Hello Dave,Thank you very much for the amazing Registrations!  I am a novice on the Tyros but I could tell that your work is top notch.  I now know that the DSP in the Tyros is a HOSS.  I also loved the stacking of mono portamento with poly sounds.  You Pianos were much more powerful than the presets and your string sounds took some very nice presets and made them Great.  I am looking forward to getting my WX5 cranking on the sounds.
Thank You very much,
Bruce Donlan
Hi Dave!I spent the afternoon playing your registrations in my Tyros. A lot of them are really phenomenal. The hours you had to spend putting these together is hard to fathom. They loaded very easily and the only problem I've encountered is the volume level of the registrations runs considerably higher than the volume level of the styles in the Tyros. It appears I will have to go in and back those levels down.
The clarity and brilliance of even a simple piano in your styles is great and I love your second instrument harmonies. The only thing better than your registrations is the price - Thanks again - You've given me a whole new direction to attempt.
Cordially,
Ken Winter,
Iowa, U.S.A.
Hi Dave,
thanks again for the registrations. You have done that very well indeed! I sure gladly will use some in my playing.
I've listened also to others' Registrations.  Also very good, but theirs are more like a matching of sounds together in three voices... in your work I can see more the art of 'editing' the sounds and that makes it special. I like it a lot and know it is not easy to do. Also there is a lot of work in it. (You're a specialist, a man of art).
I'm looking forward to the new registrations you are making.   If you say they are neat, they will be.
Have a nice weekend, Dave and thanks again!

Got my Tyro on Monday and tried your registrations.  Great combinations.   Your registrations are very different from the run of the mill sounds, which makes me like them even more.   Thank you for all your hard work, I know the time and effort that goes into making each one perfect.   You are a wiz.   Hope you will be adding more for the Tyro. Thanks again

Hi DaveThanks for the registrations. I must say that I'm impressed of the wunderfull piece of work you're sharing with others. You got a lovely way of combine sounds, I really like that! Most of the registrations worked just fine on my Tyros.
Any way - Thanks a lot for the registations, hope I can return the favor some day.
Best regards

Fantastic Registrations. Sound Stereo Effects very nice but for the Tyros the sound level parameter are to strong than rythmn and we need to adjust it manually for all 380 registrations.  Another thing, some are missing. You'll have done a very good work, thanks Pipelinerr. Many registrations are very interesting to use.

Hello friend,I'm really amazed by all the things that you can do with the Tyros.  I'm not an expert in sounds and I usually play only with styles and sometime with Karaoke files.   I really enjoy your registrations and I hope learn a lot of tricks with that.   I still don't now how integrate them in my memories for my live performances but I'm loving the challenge.
Thanks for all and I will probably give you some news about my "Registration" evolution.
Sorry for my English.

Hi Dave,Many thanks for your registrations. I had no problem at all with downlaoding and installation.
My Tyros sounds really different now with these registration.  I know now better, how the Tyros could sound.
By analysing your Reg's I will surely learn more and get a better understand of how my Tyros is working.
Once more: thank you very much.

Hello Dave,I successfully loaded onto the 9000 your registrations, via the folder, and the three of us sat and listened in amazement, the board owner thought I had given it a facelift!!! It's wonderful what you have done, our very sincere thanks.
Now when I tried to load them onto the Tyros, different story, no success. Tried with and without folder, even renamed the file extension to RGT with no luck.. I am new to the Tyros as yet and I may be missing something, no doubt I am!!! The snag is I have now heard them!!!!!! Will keep trying.
Again thanks, and Regards from The Scottish borders.

(from an email two days later):Dave...
I am up and running [with the Tyros], and enjoying, I have not heard them all, but what I have, EXCELLENT.
Hope this is the beginning of a long friendship. My sincere thanks.

"I've managed to find time to go through some of your registrations. I had no idea how different you could change the settings!   Some of the saxophone ones with strong Left and Right balances are quite phenomenal.  Brilliant stuff!  Well done!"(And you can quote me on that

Hey Dave!I received the registration files from you, thanks.  I installed and played them in my Tyros.   They sounds good and I can use them in OTS.   Some must have little trimming for Tyros.  Effects are excellent.   Thank you for having great work and I recommend these files to my Tyros and 9000 friends.
Best regards,
Jouni.
Hi Dave, well here's my first reply.  Downloaded successfully and quickly banged them onto a floppy [the converted ones] put the disc into the tyros and then "ran through" loads of them straight from the floppy.  What can I say ? Wow! up to now all are good or above, some are brilliant, some are interestingly avant garde [which suits some of my musical-moods]  As you have mentioned some dont work on the tyros but not many.  I am now looking forward to trying the rest.  "Full marks" Dave, will write again,,,, yours,,,Arthur
From a Review by Simon Williams, moderator of the SVPWorld and TyrosWorld Forums, after running tests on Two Banks of (16) Registrations I sent him.
Dave,Well I loaded your two registration banks "13_0C" and "39_26" into the Tyros, I have to say these do really shine!
For those who arent aware of registrations, most of us think of them as places to store our favourite voice and style.  However they store a LOT more!  You can change mixer settings, effects, eq, mix voices together and add harmony effects etc...  Dave has put considerable effort into his 9000 to get the best out this feature, and the best out of those sounds in your keyboard!  Recently Dave converted them for us Tyros users also, and after a long long long time I managed to get round to finally loading them up into the big T and seeing how they sound.  This is just a short review of the 2 recent banks that Dave kindly sent to the Tyrosworld group for us to share.
First up is a rather clean whistling accordion lead sound complete with portamento. What's especially noticeable is the brightness of the sound, it's clean as a result of Dave's tweaking and both sounds are nicely spread out between channels. The second registration gives a triple voice stack, a somewhat lower octave square lead sound combined with a crispy electric piano attack and a soft but thickening accordion padding.  Again very clean and "open", ideal for modern ballads and such like. Memory 3 puts a harsher edge on things, this time a slightly softer attack of harmonica and musette but enriched with square lead and all mixed in a floaty ambience..  Very eastern like!  Patch 4 of this bank still concentrates on the square lead theme, but warms up with choral humming in a lower octave, enriching the sound.
If its pretty sounds you like, then patch 5 is a winner! A crisp and clean combination of bell like sounds but mixed beautifully to produce an amazing open ambience of percussive tones laid over a trembling hammer-like soft small bell sound.  Moving on to patch 6, the atmospheric effect is much the same but this time marimba is added to enrich the bottom end of the patch.  Best described as fantasy attack with a sustained ripple of wood!  Patch 7 takes the theme a step further with richer sub tones whilst patch 8 is a completely different sound altogether, waspy synth line lead with rich low overtones and again a bright and clean sound, again obviously the result of endless tweaking and optimisation!
The second bank Dave has provided moves into the realms of bright and bold polysynths, beginning with a rich saw'ish trumpet synth pad, complete with phasing rich saw synth and clean attack courtesy of sweet trumpet..  Great lead Vangelis or fanfare of common man sound!  Patch 2 is the most exotic of what I've heard so far, a somewhat slightly discordant yet eastern feeling resulting from synth bell sounds with a synthy attack.  The oriental feel is further pronounced in Dave's 3rd patch, this time a sharper attack and less synthy, more exotic.  Thinning out the synths and back to clean percussive sounds, patch 4 is a tweaked thai bell sound that's hollow, clean and wooden.  Patch 5 is a very clean and beautifully tweaked vibe patch, nice attack and again it just shows what tweaking can do to these basic voices!  Moving to 6, nothing spectacular about this one, a right panned synth pad sound but it does stand out from the crowd and could prove useful in slow drones and atmospheric tracks.  Patch 7 is a tweaked resonant string synth, good stereo spread and nice rich phasey chorus, oh and it has a clean crisp attack too.  Finally patch 8 did somewhat confuse me, it shows 2 parts, each with separate sax tenor and alto yet only the tenor plays...  That's until you turn off part 1 and then the alto takes over!  At first I was confused, until you put on the accompaniment and play this patch!  Wow, its crazy, two saxes both jumping around... Hear it in my demo midi.
Words can't really describe how these registrations sound, so here is a short recording done on the Tyros to demonstrate just a few of these marvelous registrations from Dave.  If you havent yet treated your tyros or patted your PSR 9K or pro, give Dave a call either through email or his website and see what you are missing!
Thanks Dave once again for sharing these files with us all,
Simon
TESTIMONIALS ON THE 9000 PRO and PSR-9000 REGISTRATIONS
Hi Dave
What a lucky day it was for me to come across your excellent site.   Not only did it provide me with a wealth of information which is easy to understand and lots of it.
Then to put the cream on the cake you have very kindly given me.... FREE OF CHARGE......... your fantastic registrations, which I eagerly loaded without any difficulty (thanks to your instructions).
I find it hard to believe the difference in the voices, its like going from black and white photographs to colour! The sounds are much more vibrant and colourful which really surprised me.
I cannot imagine how you have managed to assemble the registrations.but please don't stop.
Many Thanks!

Dave,
Many thanks for registrations, received and loaded no problem, has really transformed my 9000, sounds so much brighter and livelier, was thinking of changing to a tyros, but may have changed my mind now, what is your personal opinion of 9000 versus Tyros?
Thanks again,
Regards, Roger.

Hi Dave,I'm late to answer but only because i was in holidays for a few weeks in Greece during Olympics Games.
Marvelous country.  Fabulous moments of sharing with nice people.
The dream is scarcely finished that i wake up with another treasure:  the Pipelinerr's Registrations, your registrations.
No trouble to upload them with your EZ method.
And there, the big surprise!
My God! What a sum of work to reproduce this perfect understanding about this keyboard!
I can't quit my seat and my ears don't believe that this sound come out from my new PSR 9000 Pro.
It's another keyboard for free.
The PA1X will stay in the Korg warehouse for a long moment.
I like particularly the intelligent and subtly use of effects to sound much better than the factory programs of Yamaha.
Moreover, Yamaha Corp. could sward to you an award.
I think you're a music fanatic with a great gift for programming, you are also a courageous and generous guy and I'm very lucky to know you.
Now, I'll try to learn about your work.
Thanks a lot again and best regards from France.
Roland.
Hi Dave,
Got the mail and managed to download your registrations, everything working very wellAs you said on your site what an improvement to the factory settings!!!  It must have taken you ages to complete....
Thanks again,
Bye for now

Hi Dave:The files download and play just great! Enjoyed some of the new ones... they are fun to play. I did not follow your instructions... just clicked on the file and downloaded it direct to a disc that I formatted on the computer.... so it looks like you have solved the problem. Congratulations.

Many thanks for the registrations, they are wonderful.   To think you spent so much time on them, I'm going to have fun with them this evening. Also your Pro Help Station, I printed all 29 pages, and will throw away the manual.

Dave,Thank you very much. Some of the registrations are phenomenal, which I find exciting and satisfying to play.
Once again, thanks for sharing these with amateurs like me, it is very much appreciated.

(Malcolm Jacobs, U.K.)
Your Registrations are really great. .... I had no trouble loading them into my 9000 Pro -- success on the first pass and this was the first time I loaded any styles into the keyboard. As I said, I am new to the keyboard.I have been going over each registration you sent me and trying to learn how you set up the instruments. You really understand music and this instrument. It appears you have changed on one registration or another every possible effect the keyboard offers, including pan, eq, brightness, harmonic content, octave settings, etc. The portomento effect on bank 7, reg 3 came across perfectly.

(October 24, 2002)Hi Dave,
I received the regs last night such a fast result, I've been playing with them all day and think they are fantastic.
Thanks for your kind help.
Jim Cole
(March 23, 2003)"Hi Dave,
Could you please email me your regs for my tyros. I must say I was thrilled with the ones for the 9000.
Thanks a lot,"Jim Cole
Hoi Dave,I said, you will hear from me, so I receive (again) your files and it sounds perfekt.  I thank you very, very, very much!!! Go on so!
Groetjes,
Berthil
(Berthil Brands, Benelux, Germany.)P.S: excuse my terrible english, but I think you understand me. By the way, your sites with information about the PSR9000 are great too!
Dear Dave :YOU ARE A GENIUS !!!!
After printing out your instruction sheet, I immediately started to adjust the EQ as described in your folder. A miracle happened at once : my piano and guitar sounds are no longer dull and even the accompaniment section sounds heavenly !!!
Your instructions alre very easely to follow even for a simple musician like me and it does not take much time to do it.
I have the impression my 9000pro sounds like real live music, especially the drum section, great !!!
The EQ adjustment on my Yamaha AW 4416 will become a lot easier now. Tomorrow I will record some parts ... I am very excited.
I did not increase the 9000pro Low EQ. This adjustment will be done, if still necessary, during the mixing on the AW 4416.
At the end of this year or early next year my CD ( with my own written ballads, rock and blues songs) will be ready. As soon as it will be ready I will mail it to you, free of charge of course.
Congratulations, Dave and thanks for your superb invention !!!!
Plse keep in mind I would be very happy if the MULTIPAD section should offer more flexibility ( see Technics KN6000/KN6500 ), as already mentioned in my previous e-mail. Can you do something about it ? I believe it is a section that has still to be improved enormously.
Again thanks for this wonderful work, Mr. Magician ... you made my weekend !
Best personal regards, have a nice weekend !

Dave --I just want to tell how great your registrations sound and hope you will come to Denmark and tweak the rest of my styles.
Thanks for all the help with downloading the registrations.

Dave:(All has been) received, downloaded, unzipped and tested.   Very, very good.   I'll work on them and add those I like to my registerations with one touch settings included.   That will keep me out of trouble for a long long time.  Many, many thanks.   I hope all that use these styles, registrations and voices appreciate the time and effort you put into them.  I do.  Again, many, many thanks.

Hello Pipelinerr,
I am having great fun playing about and using the registrations which must have taken you a great deal of time and effort to compile and I think its great that you freely share your work with others. Some of the registrations make it hard to believe they were actually produced on the psr 9000 as they are so different and vibrant compared to the original sounds.I am only a beginner but I can certainly appreciate now what tweaking can achieve.... Once again many thanks for your very generous and speedy reply to my request, and long may you continue to produce.
With best wishes and kind regards,
Gilbert

(from a post in the PSR-Styles Group):Hey Dave,
I received the files from you for the PSR9000 and installed them. I have played through many of them and they are really great. It is like getting a new keyboard for FREE.
Thank you for sharing your work with us. I highly recommend these files to everyone.
My best to you and yours, Happy New Year all year

Hi, Dave,Thanks so much for sending the PSR-9000 "Pipelinerr's Free Registrations"...
You asked for only one thing in exchange and that is to let you know what I think of them, so here goes:
You were right - I was totally amazed how much the voices can be changed just by a little tweaking. My overall impression is "FANTASTIC." Well done.
Once that was sorted I worked through the suggested way of testing what you had set up... Very VERY impressed.
This lead me to experiment with my current music piece 'Foottapper' by the Shadows, using info I found at the 9000 / 9000 Pro Help Station.
This is clearly written and I worked through the recommendations thoroughly. I never realized that there is so much to 'tweak' and such a range of results from each voice. I have shorthanded your guide for working with the mixer and stuck it on the wall for instant recall!
Thank you for the registrations - indeed - thanks for changing my whole approach to the PSR 9000. It is apparently capable of much more than I ever realized.
I will be using the downloads for real with some of my music pieces during the coming months. When I am in a position to give you a more comprehensive summary of my findings I will do so. First impressions are EXCELLENT.
Thanks
Stuart Gregory, U.K.
Hi Dave,Thank you for your Registrations for the Pro9000. I think they are brilliant.

Dave, many thanks for the registrations which loaded without any problems. Although I have yet only sampled a few of they seem to be a great improvement on the Yamaha voices on the keyboard. Keep up the good work.
Again many thanks,
William
(Wm. Miller)
Thank you Dave,Everything works just fine, like you said it would. I didn't think it would make that much difference.
The keyboard sounds "GREATER THAN GREAT". I'm very pleased with it.
Roger D. Adams
Hi Dave!I stored them one by one on a floppydisk but now I've packed them out and let them stay in the filemap, I don't know if you can follow me but the registrations are stored in the hard disk of my psr9000 and i've tried them all out.....man its fantastic great stuff and I know that I'll enjoy playing with them.
[Also] I've stored them all into my harddisk on the psr9000 so now I've got 64 banks lets say 64x8=512 so they are working great before I got those regs I only got 15x8=120 so its magnificent.
And now you tell me I can get free Styles if I'm a member of the Yamaha PSR Styles group?
I'm very interested in that so if you can tell me how I can become a member of this group I will be very happy and thankful.
Take care and keep in touch.
IBO from Holland
Dave,
What an excellent work!Your ideas about sounds are indeed interesting and applicable. The sounds of my PSR-9000 seem reborn.
Thanks a lot, Dave

Hi Dave!Thank you very much for 380 Registrations that you sent. They loaded without any problems. They are wonderful and play just great!
Everything is working very well! They are so different and vibrant compared to the original sounds. I do really enjoy playing with your excellent sounds!
Once more THANK YOU VERY MUCH and greetings,
Keijo Salmela,

Hi Dave,I do find all your tips and tricks invaluable, and the registrations are top class ( which is obvious as I am requesting them again ! ) The tips on EQ I find the most interesting of all, as I am like you, I like to hear a brite sound and good bass... which as you must know is important when playing live gigs.
Anyway, once again.... thanks for the fast response.... and I for one think of you as indeed a valuable asset to us music makers. I find all you say to be clear and concise. Hope this comes to you as my deep thanks for all the help you give to all who need you.... not just me!

Hi Dave,Well, I've tried out a few of the registrations (about 30 banks so far) and I'm quite enjoying them. Just for a comparison, I did a music database and got one of the Yamaha standard styles and sounds.... quite different. I love your sounds. They are lively and imaginative. Thank you very much. I'll put them to good use. Once again, you've fired my imagination, and this is only day 2. What's to become of me.
Your instructions are very clear, again, thank you.
I will peruse the site for more regs, but I have quite enough for now and just need time to really play with them some more. I've only just touched on them at this time. I'm sure you put hours upon countless hours into creating them. Nice job!!! :-)
As far as your testimonials, you are quite welcome to put whatever of my musings you wish to enter into them. I have no problem telling people how fine these regs are.
Thanks again... please keep them coming.
BTW... I'm a 52 year old computer tech that just loves music. I'm no professional at all, in fact pretty rusty. With your registrations, things ought to get very interesting.
Anyway, there you go.... bedtime... and thanks once again.

Hi Dave,All I can say is WOW, AMAZING & BRILLIANT!
Yep, the registrations downloaded to my psr9000 properly adn sound GREAT!  The way how you mixed the sounds with your own made custom voices and harmony between them is fantastic.   I must say that your custom voices are very well made and I will definately be using them.
Obviously I do have to critisize about one thing, the volume of most of the voices are to loud for some reason, so I think if you want to improve on that.  Second thing like you said not all the registrations are going to appeal to the user which is correct.  Some I find are just harsh or just have to much harmony or XG sounds combined with them.  Dont no where you got all the time to do all the registrations but I still think that they are superb!
Please can you send me the MDB for my psr9000 and the insructions on how to download them to my keyboard.
When I'm finished polishing my keyboard with your new registrations, MDB and some of my own I'll send you a copy of a backup of my keyboard and YOU can tell me what you think of it!   That should also take some time.
Your friend

Hi Dave. That's what I call a very quick service.
Yes thank you, I'm very interested to get some new styles that will be just wonderful.
About the registrations:
I got your mails containing the regs, the attachment didn't work in any of addresses, so I had to use the download link instead.
I had no trouble unzipping them and loading into my PSR 9000.
After trying almost all of them I must say they are amazing, it's like I got a new keyboard and I'm impressed of this wonderful work you share with others.  I know it takes a lot of time to combine all these sounds in such a lovely way, I couldn't do it.   But, now I'll try to learn about you work.
Thanks again and best regards from Denmark.
Leif.
(Leif Kloster, Denmark.)
Dave,Thank you for sending the Registrations. I've just unzipped the package and loaded in Bank 10 and your revoicing is astonishingly good.
I'm still working my way through the memory banks as time permits and if my comments are helpful to you I'll e-mail you from time to time.  Some of your settings are really clever, such as bringing in another instrument by increasing key pressure, and the realistic decays.
I'm really looking forward to working my way through all 64 banks, and appreciate that it is very generous of you to make them all available.  I'm also pleased that you switch the touch effects on and off in the registrations. &mbsp A lot of musicians seem to leave the touch effects on all the time and just thump the keys really hard when they want to overcome its effects.
Robert
(Robert Rice)
Dave,Thanks for the superb registrations, both copies, have tried out quite a few and to be honest I was astounded by the difference as against the OTS voices. Can't wait to get "out there" and play next.
Thanks again,
Keith
(Keith Ball, Midlands, U.K.)
Hi again Dave,Although I've just started listening to a few of your registrations, I am already impressed !
Within the first group of registrations there were settings that made my PSR9000 sound as it was supposed to sound from the beginning !
Really, I was very impressed, and also a bit sad for Yamaha. When I buy a new keyboard, its sounds are a very important factor. In this case I felt they were only "okay", and it was the ease of use and expandability that made me chose the PSR.
Had it sounded, the way you make it sound, its sounds would have ended much higher on my decision list.

Hi Dave,After a few tries, I finally got them loaded. I kept changing the folder name but nothing much happened until I named it "DAVE_NEW.usr," then everything worked fine!
And now to your regs:
Music is allways a question of taste and that means that some of your reg. are verry special.
There are a lot of surprises between. For some of them i have to be in the mood to get the right feeling for them.
I like most of them but not all. But that has to do with my taste. I am 53 years old and grow up with Beatles and stuff like this.
But one think is for shure. You open up my keyboard and my mind for more fantasy by lissening to your regs.
Thanks for all the good work and your help when I had problems to load them.
Michael
(Michael Ruta, Stockholm, Sweden)
Hi Dave,Thank you very much for the registrations that you sent me.
Although I'm still new to this complex keyboard, I was able to try many of your settings. Your selection of patches (instruments), effects and balance of your registrations really enhance this already fine keyboard.
Between reading the manual and experimenting with styles and all of the many features, my plate is quite full. I'm sure in time as I dig into your registrations I'll really appreciate the fruits of your labor.
Once again, thank you.

Hi Dave,I found some time to test the new styles and voices, most time I spent with the voices first.
It is really great, what this keyboard is able to do. Most of your voices sound fantastic, others are very helpful to understand the method, how to build new sounds. I tried to experience my own creativity and tried to change parameters to develop my own voices, but it needs time, time, time, time .......
Thanks a lot again and best regards from ol' Germany
Karlos
Dave,I LOVE your registrations! They simply RING out loud and clear. I especially love what you did with the string voices . . . delaying the harmony, etc.  I haven't had time to really experiment with them but I'll definitely provide you with more feedback as I do.
So, don't be surprised to get email from me from time to time.  Frankly, you've done such a wonderful job on revoicing the stale Yamaha voices that it's like getting a whole new keyboard.
Thanks again,Steve Gotch
Hi,I’ve tried out the registrations.  The registrations sounds great.  I never realised that this was possible.

Hello Dave
I have received your registrations and have found out how to load the registrations to the 9000 Pro.I have not yet tried all registrations but those I have are really great.
The styles in reg. 58 - 61 are incredible.
You must have used quite a lot of time I think.
This to let you know that I have received your registrations and I am impressed.
Are you still creating new registrations?

Hi DaveI am sorry I have taken so long getting back to you, as I have been checking out all of the Registrations and they sound great.
I am sure I will spend many hours experimenting with these Registrations.

Dear Dave,First of all thank you for the Regs.  They are quite interesting and very helpful.  Many of them include very good ideas and it is a good platform to expand them and create new sounds.  I use the 9000 mostly without styles but just as a synth, so I use your Regs to get ideas.  The sounds that were quite helpfull for me, were the ones with accordions combinations.  Also I found very usefull the second User EQ setting.  It boosts the highs very much and in a way that changes the sound at all.  I use it with synth type sounds that I create with PLG150 DX.
Thanx again my friend.
Best regards

Good morning Dave,Just to let you know that I received the registrations and have loaded them in successfully.  Your 'help' page was spot on and easy to follow.
I will certainly recommend you where ever I can.  I can’t believe that you don’t charge for what must have been exhaustive work.  You should at least consider placing a donation button on your site and in your e-mails.  My daughter is a website designer and we would be willing to repay you by assisting you in any way we can.

Hello Dave,Thanks for sending the registrations,
After playing them for a few days now, I only can say where did you get the time and the inspiration to do this.   It's really wonderfull what you did, many voices remind me of the E.L.O. and my keyboard is upgraded 200% so I don't need another for the next years.
Thanks a lot and keep it up.
Cheers,

Hi Dave,Thank you for your Registrations. Your 9000 handling skills gave me lots of inspiration and insight into the possibilities of the 9000Pro. I am sure this will help me develop my 9000-sessions.
I had no problems with the installation.
Your webb-site contained a lot of other interesting stuff. I will be keeping an eye on it for future NEW informative text etc.
Thanks again.

Hi Dave,Thanks for the"registrations" I downloaded 'em, and am already using as Custom voices, some of'em they work great, except two (2)Steirisch sounds and 1 Cosmic sound with Delay... the delay really, welllll, -;delays!  Other than that, some fantastic stuff!  Thanks again!  I wish to have more sounds like these.   (Maybe in the near future, who knows?)
It also happenned that I was listening to some Kurzweil sounds which are great, but I couldn't convert them (not much of a computer geek!) to use them on my Yamaha Pro, but to no avail.....These are two different kind of dishes -- I guess.
Thanks again, keep up the good job, while I don't know you personally, my guts are telling me, that you are a kind and warmharted guy.  May God Bless You!

Hi, Dave:We had success in uploading your registrations into our PSR-9000. They're really amazing. You also did a wonderful job in editing the custom voices. What your Registrations did was add precious value to our PSR-9000. We're very thankful to you for your kindness and generosity in helping people.
My best regards,

Dave,The registrations are great! Most of the music that I do is worship/contemporary Christian. Some of the sounds like strings and pianos work better for me.
Thanks again.

Hi Dave,
Well I finally got them loaded. I changed the folder name several times with no luck, but for some reason when I named it "DAVE_NEW.usr," suddenly everything worked perfectly! The manual tells nothing about limitations of foldernames, at least I could not find anything. Perhaps you can use my information to help if one of your millions of fans (*LOL*) encounters the same troubles.
And now to your regs:
I must say they are really refreshing and I shall surely use a lot of them regularly with pleasure. The harmonies are sometimes surprising and so are the "touch-sensitive layer-voices."
Thanks a lot for bringing my keyboard up to a higher level!
I added your site to my Favourites and will keep surveying your site in the future.
Thanks for your help too; I wish you a lot of success with your tweaking activities.

Kia Ora Dave,Downloaded registrations and man they are wicked, I really enjoy them it really spruces up the 9000pro "unbelievable" sound.
Thanks alot for the hook ups.   I'll pass on the word to other musicians I know who play a 9000pro.
Keep up the good work, I hope to hear from you in the near future.

"... after listening to some (I stress some) of your registrations I feel I must borrow Bob Gelman's word 'Wow!' I'm sure you will not be surprised to hear that there were also a few 'Ugh!'s - not only have you done some things just to show they can be done, but personal taste was bound to find some sounds ugly. I'm of a generation, for instance, that may never find the synthesizer particularly desirable (though I rule out nothing in my retirement!) I'm more for Big Band, Strings and light Jazz. But 'Popcorn' and 'Telstar' have stuck in the mind.Anyway, you have no shortage of variations that I would love to use for my own entertainment (I'm a home player). The problem, of course, will be in locating those sounds again and transplanting them into banks of my own. There's going to be a lot of old-fashioned pencil and paper involved, I can see. Then there are the one-touch settings that need to be altered ... I hope it doesn't finish up as work on the computer often does: three quarters tweaking and one quarter performance.
So you've done a great job in showing the potentiality of the PSR and, as far as I'm concerned, you've suggested enough work to cover a few years ahead (there's always less time in retirement). Unless you automated some changes, you must have spent a hell of a lot of time on this already. The results are great. Thank you very much."
(Brian Haylett)
Hello Dave,Many many thanks, I received your registrations I have gone through each and every one of them and my honest conclusion is that the majority of your settings are extremely good.   There are just a few that to my mind are a little harsh, but I am certainly going to keep and use the one's I like which as I have stated are well in the majority, may I congratulate you on your work and in your generosity at sharing your excellent results with others.  Your Web site is a godsend for people like myself that have difficulty with manuals. The site is very informative and instructive in a manner that is easy to understand, power to your elbow, and once again lots of thanks, your work is very much appreciated.
Kind regards and Best wishes
Tom Hipkiss, England.
Hi Dave,I received your message and the download worked perfectly. The registrations are superb and I want to thank you for all the effort you put into them.
I enjoy your web site and have gotten a lot of information from it concerning the PSR9000. Thanks to you, I have learned a lot more about my 9000 where the manual doesn't go into detail and you take the time to explain things. Thank you again for the registrations and the quick response in e-mailing them to me.
My wife has been wanting me to cut the grass and clean the pool, but this whole day I have done nothing but play my 9000. It almost seems like a new keyboard, and even my wife had to admit the Regs were a great addition.
Sincerely,
Bob

Hi DaveWhat a great job you have done with all this registrations!!   Thank you very much and congratulations.
I had no problems to install them on my PSR9000.   It will take a long time, to realy test all the registrations and see inside your ideas.  I will certainly improve my registrations and use some of your examples and the knowledge I got from you.   I will use your Registrations as a Student Guide!
Thanks again Dave for your big effort and have a nice time.

Hello Dave,I wanne thank you for the registrations.
I didn't try them all yet, but the one's I've heard are very good.   I already use a few in some of my songs.   I'm looking forwards to hearing the rest.
Thanks and greetings from Bob.
(Bob van der Veen, The Netherlands)
My dear friend,I have successfuly managed to load the registrations on my 9000 pro which was as straightforward as simply following the EZ tips. My comments are as follows:
What I like about them... is that they are very alive, vibrant and fresh, providing you with the choice of changing the volume should they sound too loud or should you add some preset voice to sound along the ones set in the registrations.
The preset voices on my 9000 pro sound good but not very alive - like the live! grand piano for instance is marvelously sampled for an on-board piano but when played conjunctively to some bright registration of yours (e.g as a part 2 of 3 voice) and by adjusting the volumes a bit up or down the result is much more vibrant and pleasant to the player's ears.
I like composing music - especially classical bits.  I am not a professional musician and therefore have got not much free time for it.  No luxury for tweaking sounds here.  I really appreciate your openhandness in sharing with us the fruit of your effort.
Thank you very much my friend.
Kind regards
Philippos Aristotelous,

Hi Dave. Thanks for the Registrations.  Kept me awake half the night, but some of them are very good, and I enjoyed myself playing them.  I think it took you a while to create them, and I realize you know pretty well how to work your Yamahas.
I will tell you once again they are SUPER.   and any other person had sold them and make them self a fortune so keep up the good work.
Best regards,
Christer in Sweden
(Christer Sandberg)
Hi Dave:Downloading was a snap. Downloaded to a floppy, Backed up my Registrations on my 9000. And loaded yours into my keyboard and started playing.
I loved most of them, the ones I found a little troubling was the Xylophone bouncing around tended to hurt my ears and my little pom's ears. By the way his name is Buddy and he says, "hi". Didn't really like the cosmic's sounds, but that could be I wasn't sure how I would use them.
The ones I really loved were the SLOW!strs; Marimb-echo; Decay strgs; and Stardust Decay. I liked all the Decay sounds.
Well Dave as I stated before you have done a real fine job with your registrations and I have taken them and changed them around and mixed them with other voices that I like, but kept your effects, EQ, Panning, Reverb, etc. and from all of this I would like to say that I am learning more about my 9000 thru your web site, the Yamaha PSR Group, with all the email, it has been a fascinating ride.
Thanks for being so kind in sharing your hard work with all of us.
Will be looking for any new registrations you may put out there.
Thanks again!
Ann Mitchell
Hi Dave,Sincere thanks for sending the attachments again, and this time I've successfully loaded them.   What can I say that has not already been said ( I read the letter's you've received) THEY'RE GREAT.   When I bought my PSR9000 at Caister, if you remember me telling you, it was because another mate of mine (Gordon) also bought the same machine just before I did.  And he has had the benifit of all your experience as well, he sends you his best regards and thanks.   I've not had a close look at the (Music Finder) song titles yet, but will, soon.   Love the Registration sound on Bank 46, #1, I can see that being very useful.   Thanks again, I'll keep in touch.
Paul.
(Paul Dowson, Aylesbury, England.)
Dear Dave,Had a long session over the weekend playing with your registrations.   There are a lot of black holes in the TYROS version but enough there to be of interest.
I did try several against various styles as I realised you had based your registrations only on voices.  Being nearly 60, many of the sounds are not to my taste, however I was amazed to hear what it is possible to achieve once you have learned to delve into the depths of the keyboard.   How did you manage to get a gliss (slide) between notes? I would like to try this effect on guitar to get something like a bottleneck effect or Hawaiian guitar.   Thanks for all the time and effort you must have put into this.  I will keep your site in my favourites list and look forward to hearing what the future brings.
Best Wishes,
Mike

Dear Dave, finally, I have been able to download all of your registrations after following the EZ Guidelines.
They are all wonderful.  Majority is unbelievable.   I could not believe myself to see the variations.   You have done marvellous work.  I have to say thank you very very much.
You know what, looking at your genius work, I have been able to create some very nice settings... all credit goes to you.
I will keep in touch.
Kind regards

Dave —Well, here it is, finally, my feedback from the registrations you were kind enough to email to me.
First of all, in general, let me say a big THANK YOU for opening my eyes to the many possibilities of layering and registrations.  The Tyros is my first Yamaha PSR, so I was not familiar with the power of registrations.  So many of your combinations are really fun, and produce sounds so markedly different from the preset voices that it really helped open me up to the possibilities of the instrument.  Also, when I finally figured out to go into the mixing console to learn how you'd produced some of the sounds, that was a revelation as well!
Below are some comments on and questions about the individual registrations — I haven't had time to go through all of them but I have gone through most — and below that are some of the many other questions that experimenting with your cool stuff have raised!
COMMENTS ON REGISTRATIONS04_03 1 This one immediately made me see the advantage of using the same instrument layered in octaves. Cool.
2+3 This one had me wondering why, in #2, when R2 and R3 (and in #3, when R1 and R3) are active, only one of the two voices plays except when a chord is voiced in the left hand?
6 I didn't think the phasing between the R1 and R2 trumpets worked especially well on this one — I didn't check, but I think maybe the tremolo is set at different rates?5_04 5 A really interesting voice combo
06_05 1+2 The adjustments to the Big Brass patch are very cool
4 Ditto the Phase EP
5 Ditto the Tiny Lead and Analogon07_06 3 The portamento on the Folk Guitar was so unexpected and so cool! It would never have occurred to me to try this. Excellent!
6 The Jazz Chorus EP on R2 and R3 seem to have the same settings. Why is this useful?   (Or did I miss something?)
8 The drone effect on the Jazz Man Guitar was very interesting! Took me a while to
figure out what you did.39_26 1 Great combo of Bright Ober, Trumpet and Converge. How'd you do the filter sweep on the Bright Ober?
3 Trill on the Thai Bells is very cool, and something else I'd never have thought of in a hundred years!
40_37 7 The Wah effect on the W. Piano is also very cool.
41_28 1 I enjoyed the Orgel layered in octaves on this setup.
42_29 4 The adjustments to the Pan Flute were very cool.
44_2B #4+5 Okay, two of the parts assigned to Voice Oohs are for the octaves.  What's the third one for?
45_2C 6-8 These settings have me completely stymied.  When you go to, say, #6, you get two Folk Guitars in octaves with portamento (again, very cool).  But when you turn either of the Folk Guitar parts off, the portamento disappears and the guitar has a tremelo harmony effect you don't hear when both parts are active.  What the heck is going on here??
47_2E 1 Loved the tweaks to the Samisen
50_31 2 The way the harmony works on this setting just got me twisted. I can't seem to get my head around what the Multi Assign function does in the harmonizer (the manual is, ahem, not extremely clear on this — go figure)
60_3B I wasn't able to discern the difference, if any, between registrations 1 thru 8. What's going on here that I'm missing?
63_3E 1 I really liked the Tiny Lead and Blues Harp layer in this one.
3 Ditto the Tiny Lead (up 2 octaves!) against the Steirisch

Dave,Yes they arrived – the reason I sent two requests was that the one that went direct from the web site "bounced back" to me saying it was undelivered – so I sent another direct from my email program – they obviously both got through – sorry about that!!
I had chance to try some of the reg’s last night – absolutely wonderful!!! – seems like I have a brand new keyboard!! – now I just want to find out how you did it and attempt to "beef up" my own personal reg’s I have had for years.

I wish to thank you very much for the email you sent me.  There was no attachment opening but I have been able to download the registration from the adress you stated in your message.  I didn't manage to listen to them all yet but the ones I already listened to zeem to be execellent.  So again thank you very much and happy holidays.Erik, Belgium
Hi Dave, thanks a lot for the registrations. They are great!
I loaded them on my PSR 9000 and enjoyed the sound during the weekend. It sounds very interesting.  I never heard something like this from my PSR 9000 before.  Some of the regs inspired me spontaneously to play a song, others didn't.  It is astonishing for me, what is possible by using the features of an PSR 9000.  It seems that my keyboard have got a second life!
The various guitar regs are my favorites.  I spent some hours with them. I'm sure I will use especially these regs in the future.
The panorama effects are sometimes a little bit "unbelievable" for me.  What I mean is, the effects are spectacular, but partly I had no idea for a song to play with.  By the way: I play my PSR 9000 only at home, only for myself, not for an audience.
Once more, I thank you for sharing your regs, that means your tremendous work, with me.
Thanks, have fun

SLOW RESPONSES (THIS is a whole new section I am starting... showing letters from people who DID get the Registrations but, for one reason or another, forgot to write back):
Dave,I've been so busy trying them out that I completely forgot to let you know something.  Sorry about that.
I'm using them on my Tyros and they work great.  Thanks for the great effort you put in them.
Best regards,

ON THE "ALL-NEW" REGISTRATIONSDate: Mon, 29 Dec 2003 20:40:39 -0500
Hi Dave,
Thank you so much for sending these wonderful registrations. They are just great. The echoes were there, I did not have to upload the effects file. I am really impressed.  Love the Phantom Style set up, and just like you said, it held the style from one registration to another without having to put the freeze on.
I think you are a genius. I shouldn't say this, but I think you should be charging much more then your asking.  I can hardly wait until that check is processed so I get the others. Again, thank you so much and if you have others to send, don't forget your music pal in Florida.

Hi Dave,
How does one describe your new registrations WOW !! You sure separated the "men from the boys". It's hard to imagine how many hours it took to put these together.
Kudos to you for providing wonderful and imaginative combinations, using many different effects. Hope the Group members jump on the bandwagon. Their really missing something if they don't.

Hey Dave I loaded the regs and they are GRRREAT,will be lokking for some more when the check clears. You asked what state I live in its New Jersey.   The motto is the Garden State but the way farms are being sold and housing projects are going up it is anything but now!   I live in a town named Audubon which is in South Jersey and we are about 5 miles from south Philadelphia.  Anyway thanks for all your efforts and to hear what I have so far sure changes the TYROS to make it even better!Bob Thomason
Date: Wed, 31 Dec 2003 11:46:07 -0500Hi Dave - I couldn't wait to check them out - and now I don't want to stop! They are wonderful - all of them. I have a friend who has asked me to compose some music for an art show she's doing, and your regs will add tons of color to what I've already done. Looking forward to the rest.
Thanks again for sharing your wonderful gift with us -

Date: Fri, 3 Jan 2004 1:27:03 -0500Dave you amaze me
I have tried probably every Registration on the net, and NOT ONE comes anywhere close to yours.   (Especially these new ones.)
How do you get the voices to CHANGE by my just playing harder?  That is SO neat!
And I love all those neat echoes and repeating notes that you attached to some voices. Until I found you, I didnt even suspect my Tyros could do all that.  Now I understand what people mean when they say you've made their Tyros worth more!
I guess I will never figure it out.  I can see what you did but it's too complicatted for me. LOL
Just keep doing it Dave.  You've added a whole new dimension to my keyboard.
Best regards to you, my friendBob

Hi Dave,Just a few lines to say how much I enjoyed your new regs for the Tyros. I loaded them on to my tyros hard drive and cant stop playing them. You certainly know how to bring out beautiful sounds in the keyboard.
How you brought in the mega voices amazes me, Thanks for giving me so much pleasure.
yours sincerely

HI DAVE.   THE MORE OF YOUR PROGRAMS I ADD, THE BETTER EVERYTHING SOUNDS.  I'M BECOMING ESPECIALLY ENAMORED OF THE REGISTRATIONS FROM BANK #50 TO BANK #59.  IT'LL STILL TAKE MORE TIME AND EXPLORATION TO GET SPECIFIC, BUT ONCE AGAIN I HAVE THE FEELING THAT YOU ARE SQUEEZING THINGS OUT OF THE TYROS THAT BEAT THE HELL OUT OF THE ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING.GEORGE

Hi Dave,
Just received my new reg files and have installed them on to my Tyros hard drive - I must say I am impressed, some of the sounds I have listened to so far are excellent, great use of the effects available in Tyros and your EQ settings I find lift the sounds well - it will take me some time to trawl through them all but that I look forward to.
All the best and I hope 2005 is good to you
