Piper
George Findlater, V.C. of the Gordon Highlanders, was an ordinary man who
found himself unexpectedly famous after being wounded in battle on the
North-west frontier of India in 1897.
He was hailed as the ‘Hero of Dargai’ for continuing to play his bagpipes after being shot in both ankles.
My book about Piper Findlater has been re-written and I hope to have it available for sale sometime in 2005. More details will be available here in due course. In the meantime here is a summary of Piper Findlater's life.
