| Church History The modern version of the Piqua Apostolic Church was founded in March of 1909 as the Union Gospel Mission under the ministry of C.W. Saxauer. The church soon after its inception, became known as the Pentecostal Assembly and resided as a mission at 123 N Main Piqua, Ohio. In April of 1916 the church purchased property at 318 S Roosevelt Ave. and there constructed a house of worship which would become the church's home for the next sixty years. During these formative years the church was led under the ministry of Rev. Eli Sutton. Under the leadership and guidance of Rev. D.A. Simmons the church purchased and built the current edifice at 830 Covington Ave. in Piqua, Ohio. A Christian School was established as an inseparable ministry of the church in 1975 and continues today. The school operates under the curriculum ministry of Accelerated Christian Education. Rev. Daniel L Hathaway is currently the Pastor of Piqua Apostolic Church and is leading us spiritually into the future. Apostolic History The Apostolic-Pentecostal movement traces its origen to the New Testament church on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2), affirming the experience and doctrine of the apostles. The modern Apostolic-Pentecostal Movement developed from a bible school in Topeka, Kansas, led by Charles F Parham (1901) and the Azusa Street revival which broke out in Los Angeles, California in 1906. The Apostolic movement is one of the fastest growing movements in the world today. |
