ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) 2000 International Conference
September 11th 2000
This is me and my robot in Baltimore Maryland for the 2000 ASME International Conference, Undergraduate Student Mechanisms Design Competition.  After delivering a 15 min speech on my work and describing the (not as of yet functioning) prototype,  I recieved 1st place among 5 other undergraduate students selected out of the world.
To the right is the desplay that I set up for my robot.  On the table is a motorized, rotating project description sheet display that I built out of a meat rotisserie motor and an old broken umbrella.
Here I am in the middle with my award and my accademic advisor, Dr. Robert Williams and my father, Richard Matthews.  They were both very gracious in attending the conference with me and being there when the award was presented to me..
