Fresnel Diffraction Applet
Author: N.Betancort Piratord
The Applet shows by computer simulation, the diffraction of light through a
bidimensional aperture according with Fresnel theory. When the Fresnel number of the
selected aperture is near 1 the results are according with Fraunhofer aproximation.
The left window shows de intensity distribution and the Fresnel number.
The right window shows the diffraction pattern.
The incident light may be selected as proceding from a point source (spherical wave)
or from a far source (plane wave). The wavelength may be changed inside the visible spectrum.
The selectable types of apertures are: single slit, rectangular aperture and circular hole.
