Plank Rabbitry Sable Point Holland Lops |
I have to start off by saying that I been raising Hollands for 9 years now and have never focused on just one color. As most good breeders know type always comes first. When I found colors "popping up" they only stayed if they had the type I was looking for. Sable point has always been my favorite color, so when I got my first sable point out of Lov's Boo, I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. So began my search for good, typed sable points that I could incorporate into my rabbitry. Most breeders that I contacted were more than willing to help, going out of their way to "make" me something or part with a nice animal. Unfortunately I did run into a breeder that wouldn't even answer my email, but did find the time to browse my website. I have to thank first and foremost, Harley Butler for BBC's Cowboy. She gave him to me because she knew how "obsessed" I was with my new project and he was exactly what I was looking for to get me started. She is still making sable point babies for me to incorporate into my herd. I also have a few does on loan from her. She is, of course, getting offspring back because she to shares my love for sable points. A few others that were very generous to me. Laurie Vitale, Keith Becki, Robin & Josh Layman, Melanie Sietsema, Sara Dombrowski, Lea Kloster and Marianne Liechty. Thank you to you all. If you think you have a good sable point that you're willing to part with, let me know, I might be interested :) |

BBC's Cowboy BBC's Spanky (Sable Pt) X Ormond's Firefly (Br Tort) Sable Point Senior Buck 1 GC Leg Cowboy will be the backbone of my sable point project. Plank's Phantom Lov's Boo (Tort) X Plank's Kiah (Br Tort) Broken Sable Point Sr Buck 1 GC Leg This was my wonderful surprise. Because I am so used to seeing broken tort in my boxes, when I pulled him out at 2 weeks, I knew that something was different. Phantom has been shown and has earned 1 GC leg. He has won his class a few other times but their weren't enough rabbits or breeders for legs. He has great ear substance, just lacks the development of crown at his young sr age. |

Plank's Deperado Lov's Boo (Tort) X GC Plank's Serendipity (Br Tort) Sable Point Senior Buck Registered Desperado showed up when I wasn't even trying for sable points. He was a serious suprise, especially coming from Seri and Boo. He doesn't just have the bloodlines, the proof is in the package. He has matured quite nicely and he is still pretty young for a senior, so I expect him to just get better. A huge boost to my sable point project. |
Jorae's AC2 AC's Zama X Jorae's H3 Siamese Sable Senior Doe Just walking around a show one day, I spotted this doe with her siblings in a carrier and just had to have her. She has unbelievable width to her body and head. Incredible crown and ear substance. Tons of bone. I can't wait to get babies out of her. |

GC Woodmont's Terri The Nature Trail's Mambo (Br S. Point) X Woodmont's Gem (Tort) Sable Point Senior Doe 3 GC Legs Bred by: Marianne Liechty Every once in a while there comes along a rabbit that is just "special". The first time I saw Terri, Marianne was showing her at the summer MI Holland Lop Express Specialty show. As I have been known to do, I asked her if she would be willing to part with this doe. Of course I didn't expect her to say "well, maybe". You see, all of the breeders I followed back to their carriers to ask if they would be willing to sell a sable point that they just took off the table always answered with a "no". I know that most breeders are not willing to part with very nice sable points. But it never hurts to ask. So with Terri, Marianne contacted me about a week later and asked me if I was still interested in her. Was she kidding, of course!! Terri is not just the most beautiful sable point that I have ever seen, she has the most wonderful personality. Among all the rabbits I have in the barn, she is counted as one my most favorites. She finished out her junior show career by winning her class in two different shows. First out of 14 and first out of 15. Then granded at just over 6 months of age. Thanks again, Marianne! You have no idea how much I love this doe! |

BBC's Outlaw Lov's Ssh (Br Tort) X Plank's Maddie (Tort) Sable Point Sr Buck Placed 14th out of 198 - Solid Jr Bucks 2008 ARBA Convention 1 GC Leg- BOSV Bred by: Harley Butler Thank God I took this one off Harley's hands before she sold him. When I snatched him, Outlaw was just a little guy, but I could see the potential in him. It helps that he is out of Lov's and my lines. He's just incredible. Very upright and showy. Lots of attitude. I'd like to clean up his color a bit, but with eveything else he has going for him, I can overlook that. |

Plank's Bolt Broken Sable Point Junior Buck 5 GC Legs Future herd buck, this one will be staying right here. I fell in love early on with this one. I am so happy with the quality sable points that my rabbits are producing. Bolt earned his first leg at the tender age of 3 months. His adult coat wasn't even all the way in when he won his class over 7other junior bucks. Todd Naragon suggested his name as he has an interesting "lightening bolt" pattern on his forehead. Thanks Todd! |
