Sailor Moon was Princess Serenity, Princess of the Moon, in her past life. She was reborn on Earth as Usagi/Serena. She is just a seemingly normal teenager that lives in present day Tokyo. Luna, the cat, finds Usagi and becomes her pet (and protector and guardian). Luna trains Usagi to fight against enemies. Usagi becomes the first Senshi, Sailor Moon.
Tuxedo Mask . . . this guy has definitely got some problems. He was Prince Endymion, the Prince of Earth, in his past life. He was reborn on Earth and we don't know what his name was then. His parents were killed in a car accident when he was very young and he survived although he suffered from a head injury. One of his caretakers gave him the name Darien/Mamoru. He teased Usagi because of her weird hairdo and she hated him . . . or thought she did.
Mamoru began to have black out spells. He would wake up from them not knowing what had happened. I'll tell you what happened! He transformed into Tuxedo Mask after he blacked out and fought along with the Senshi! Crazy, isn't it? I told you he has problems. Usagi didn't know that Mamoru was Tuxedo Mask and Mamoru didn't even know he was Tuxedo Mask! Usagi and Mamoru finally figured out that he was Tuxedo Mask and they fell in love with each other. : )
Mamoru began to have dreams that Usagi was in danger because he was near her. He decided to break up with her and stop fighting along with the Senshi. That's when Mamoru suddenly started transforming into Moonlight Knight! Once again, he had no idea that this was going on and unlike how it was back when he was becoming Tuxedo Mask without knowing it, Moonlight Knight and Mamoru were totally separate from each other!
Sailor Moon did not know that Moonlight Knight was Mamoru so here we go again! Usagi finally figured out that Mamoru was Moonlight Knight and he finally figured it out too. Moonlight Knight disappeared and Mamoru started transforming into Tuxedo Mask again and he stopped avoiding Usagi.
Now, let me tell you about Chibi Usa (Rini). Rini fell from the sky and landed on Usagi and Mamoru one day during Sailor Moon R. Very weird. Rini demanded that Usagi hand over the Silver Imperium Crystal so that she could save her mother in 30th Century Tokyo. In the Japanese anime, Rini demanded the Crystal while holding a gun on Usagi. It was only a toy gun but this scene was changed in the dub.
Eventually, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and the Senshi teleported to the future to save Rini's mother. They met Rini's father, Neo King Endymion, . . . or rather . . . his spirit right away. He said that the Negamoon was attacking Crystal Tokyo. He told them that he had been severely injured during the battle and that Neo Queen Serenity had been encased in crystal by the future Senshi to protect her from one of the Negamoon's attacks. She was put into a deep sleep. Something went wrong and she would not wake up.
Then, he told Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask to take care of Small Lady (Rini) and that she was their future daughter. Sailor Mars got really mad! She said, "When did THIS happen?!" Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask were extremely embarrassed (and Sailor Mars' comment did not help). Neo King Endymion also told Tuxedo Mask that he was looking at his future self. Tuxedo Mask was stunned. Neo King Endymion then told Sailor Moon that Neo Queen Serenity was her future self. She looked more stunned than Tuxedo Mask!
After this, Rini wandered outside of the protective barrier that surrounded the Crystal Palace and was brainwashed by Wiseman who then turned her into Wicked Lady. She became extremely powerful because she was so full of dark energy due to the hatred she was feeling toward her parents and the Senshi because of the false memories Wiseman had given her. Wiseman was going to use her to destroy Crystal Tokyo. Wicked Lady knew that she would be killing herself if she destroyed Crystal Tokyo but she hated everyone so it did not matter to her.
Sailor Moon transformed into Neo Queen Serenity and when Wicked Lady saw her mother, she began to come around after a little while. She regained her real memories of her parents and the Senshi and went to her mother and hugged her. When she did, she turned back into a little girl. She stayed with Tuxedo Mask while Neo Queen Serenity tried to defeat Wiseman. Rini began to cry because she was so sorry about everything. One of her tears became the Silver Crystal of the Future, the one that she had "lost." She was extremely happy to see it! She used it to transform into Princess Small Lady and then she joined Neo Queen Serenity in her fight against Wiseman. After he was defeated, Neo Queen Serenity turned back into Sailor Moon and Princess Small Lady turned back into Rini. Neo Queen Serenity woke up in the future and Neo King Endymion was healed. Crystal Tokyo was saved! ^_^
