Supporting Characters

Sometimes, the supporting characters in a movie are just as important as the main characters.  Here are a few of the supporting characters from The Beljars.  Like the cousins, they are each unique individuals, often eager to help, and just as often mysterious.

Galen d'Oftrea (John Hannah):  Galen is an elf, one of the first people the Beljars (more specifically Ian) meet upon their arrival at the Inn.  He's a good-natured though somehow mischievous man, more warm toward the Beljars than his brother Luro.

Lady Iseth Thornsberry (Jennifer Connelly): Lady Iseth is a feyologist- meaning that she studies faeries.  She befriends Elliott and Harrison early on, proving herself to be friendly and extremely talkative- thereby frightening the quiet Harrison quite severely.

Luro d'Oftrea (Josh Charles):  Luro is the more sarcastic D'Oftrea brother.  It's clear that he has good intentions, but he's less adept at showing it than Galen.

Nona (Emily Watson):  Nona is a Siren, the only one of her sisters who did not use her beautiful voice to lure sailors to their demise.  She detests the usage of good things for evil, and therefore has vowed never to sing, as it would bring about unhappiness.  She is the mouthpiece for the eccentric Oracle, and takes her role very seriously.

Ananayel (Minnie Driver):  Ananayel is a powerful enchantress who is on the run from her brother Grezwall, who believes that she murdered their parents many years ago.  She is a quiet, wise woman, who uses her powers for healing and often keeps herself hidden in the woods.  Traveling with her is Oriin, a 6-foot boa constrictor with the power of mindspeech.
