MY POINT OF VIEW
So the holidays are upon us again.  And once again our society will show its spiritual Christian side by spending millions of dollars finding the perfect gift, decorating their homes, and satisfying their urge for fine drink and food.  Once again spiritualism is displayed through commercialism and materialism.  Of course, I don't buy into the spiritualist aspects of the season, but I sure am getting sick of the commercialism, too.  Of course, I may be a hypocrite.  There is always a tree in my living room and we listen to carols and watch holiday movies, etc.  Mostly this is done for the benefit of my children, but I do like to point out the hypocrisies that exist during the holiday season and this time of year is usually good for pointing these sort of things out.

I was thinking the other day about how much money we spend on gifts and celebrations during this most festive of seasons.  We get to feel all warm and fuzzy in our homes that are so brilliantly decorated and we are warmed by a fire that is roaring upon our hearth and, well you get the point. We spend so much to make ourselves feel so great and then we convince ourselves that we deserve this and we are doing great things for our family and our friends that show how much we love them and then of course we do finally take some time to remember the reason for the season; the birth of our Lord and Saviour and we are so grateful for what God has done for us; how he loves us so much despite our miserable selfs.
Isn't this all just great.  Cheers!, as we raise another glass to toast the occasion.

It makes me ill.  I remember since I was about 12 years old that something about this holiday season just didn't make sense.  How could I get excited about all the wonderful presents I'd be getting when I knew that there were so many in the world that had nothing; not even a bite to eat.  Madison Avenue and television ads and radio ads just shove the holiday down our throats and you had better have a few hundred or thousand dollars to spend or your Christmas is severely lacking something.

I do not pretend to be better than others, but I can't stand the hypocrisy and as I said previously. maybe I am one also.  Love and peace isn't the reason we celebrate Christmas.  Oh, perhaps there is some love; love of the almighty dollar and what it can attain. Let us all please bow down to our true god($$$$) this holiday and to hell with everyone else.  After all, we and our families are what's important; besides deep down we're really good decent people and we can't help some things like the people that do without. Right?

ANOTHER MERRY CHRISTMAS
