Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tambaugh.  It's moon Charon was not discovered until 1978. Recently there has been discussion as to whether Pluto is actually a planet or not. There may be several other bodies similar to Pluto orbiting the sun in the far reaches of the solar system.
