The Incredible and Glorious Creation of Man Genesis 1:26,27 “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in Our ___________, according to ______ likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over ______ the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So ________ created man in His own __________; in the image of God He __________ him; ________ and __________ He created them.” The Beautiful Garden Genesis 2:8,9,15 “The Lord God ____________ a ___________ eastward in ________, and there He put the man whom He had __________. And out of the __________ the Lord God made every _________ grow that is ___________ to the sight and good for _________. The tree of ________ was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of ________ and _________.” “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to ________ and ________ it.” (Note – God created man in His own image in a perfect and beautiful paradise. Nothing that would take away man’s happiness was forbidden him. Adam and Eve were perfectly happy, healthy, and holy and set as the King and Queen over all God’s creation on this earth. Every animal was completely loyal and unafraid of Adam and Eve – all fish, birds, cattle, and every other creature were all their pets and subjects. There was no death there of any kind and man had the pleasant occupation of gardening in a world that knew no thorns, hardship, or pain. O what a wonderful place it was!) The King of Tyre, A Parable and Lamentation of the Creation, Fall, and Final Destruction of Lucifer Ezekiel 28:12-19 “Son of man, take up a ______________ for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus say the Lord God: You were the ________ of _____________, full of ___________ and perfect in ____________. You were in _________, the __________ of God; every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the _______ you were created. You were __________ cherub who covers; ____ established you; you were on the holy ____________ of God; and walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were _________ in your ________ from the day you were created, till ____________ was found in you. By the abundance of your trading you __________ filled with ____________ within and you __________; therefore I ________ you out as a profane thing out of the mountain of God; and ____________ you, O covering __________, from the midst of the fiery stones. Your __________ was lifted up because of your ___________; you ____________ your ____________ for the sake of your splendor; I _______ you down to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze upon you. You ___________ your sanctuaries by the multitude of your ____________, by the iniquity of your trading; therefore I brought fire from your midst; it devoured you, and I turned you to ___________ upon the earth in the sight of all who saw you. All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; you have __________ a __________, and you _________ be no _________ forever.” (Note -Luke 10:18 and Isaiah 14:12-14 also describes the fall of Satan formally a covering Cherub (the highest of angels) named Lucifer. God created Lucifer perfect, majestic, and without sin along with the rest of His creation. God will only accept the service of love so he created in man and angels the freedom of choice and when Lucifer perverted this freedom he was final transformed into a ferocious beast – he became a horror to all the nations. Here in the heart of Satan originated sin – rebellion against God – supreme selfishness. Because of this Lucifer was finally cast from heaven with all the disloyal angels. He will be destroyed at the last day for all the misery and suffering he has caused. The fall of Satan broke the heart of God.) War in heaven! Revelation 12:7-12 “And ________ broke out in heaven: ____________ and his __________ fought with the ___________; and the dragon and his ___________ fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in ___________ any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that ___________ of old, called the ____________ and ____________ who ___________ the __________ world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now ____________, and strength, and the kingdom of God, and the ___________ of His ___________ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who __________ them before our God day and night, has been cast down. (War started in heaven and Satan was cast down to the earth. Many believe that God was unfair to send him (that dragon) down to this earth to molest it. But if we look back to the story of the Fall in the 2nd & 3rd chapters of Genesis we will see that Satan only had access to one tree in the whole vast paradise of God. Thus God allowed man to make his choice in this controversy that had started in heaven. God made it as easy as possible for man to make the right decision but in His love and fairness He left room for man to choose. He warned Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Every other tree they could freely eat except this one. Only when man yielded to obey the Serpent and disobey God was Satan allowed to take captive our world. But praise God, God made a way out. It is called the plan of Salvation and it is the most important truth we need to understand for ourselves from the Bible. Everyone will have a choice what choice will you make? I pray that you will choice to take your stand completely on the Lord’s side!) And they overcame him (the devil) by the __________ of the ___________ and by the _________ of their _____________, and they did not _________ their ___________ to the ___________. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! ________ to the inhabitants of the __________ and the ________! For the ___________ has come down to you, having great ___________, because he knows he has a ___________ time.” (We overcome by three things 1- the blood of the Lamb 2- the word of our testimony & 3 not loving our lives to the death Anything less is a false gospel! Satan is real and we have a real battle if we would stand on the side of truth and win the overcomers’ crown! ) How it all started! Genesis 3:1-5 “Now the ___________ was more ____________ than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has ________ indeed said, ‘You shall not _______ of every tree of the garden’?” And the women said to the serpent, “We may _______ the __________ of the trees of the garden; but the _________ of the _________ which is in the __________ of the garden, _________ has said, ‘You shall not ________ it, nor shall you _________ it, lest you ________.’ ” Then the ___________ said to the ___________, ‘You shall _______ surely ________. For God knows that in the day you _______ of it your ________ will be __________, and you will be ________ God, knowing _________ and _________.’ ” (Satan’s first lie to Eve was, “You will not surely die.” Satan was insinuating that God was holding out something good from Adam and Eve. He was basically saying that God was not fair and that he could offer something better. He mingled enough truth with his lie to allure Eve and seduce her into temptation. The Bible says “Resist the Devil and he will flee from you”(James 4:7), but Eve sadly to say took the bait and disobeyed God. Then her eyes were opened and she and all her children (including you and me) have learned the horrible lesson of knowing both good and evil. God’s plan was that we would never know or experience the cruelties of evil such as death, pain, misery, disease, and suffering. But God would not take away the free choice of man. God would not force man to obey, serve, and love Him. God in His love let man choose but not without a warning! By knowing about God’s character as revealed in the Bible we know that He must of done everything in His power to persuade Adam and Eve to stay true to Him and to pass the simple test of loyalty in the garden of Eden. Today, He won’t violate man’s freedom of choice but He is doing everything He can to persuade men and women from a life of sin and death. What a God of love!) The Warning Appeal Genesis 2:15-17 “And the Lord _______ ______________ the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may ___________ eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of ________and _________ you shall not ________, for in the day that you ______ of it you shall surely _________.” The Disobedience Genesis 3:6,7 “So when the __________ saw that the tree was _________ for _________, that it was ____________ to the eyes, and a tree ____________ to make one _________, she ________ of its _________ and _______. She also gave to her ____________ with her, and ______ ate. Then the ________ of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were __________; and sewed fig leaves together and made themselves _____________.” (Satan made sin to appear very attractive to Eve. Eve was seduced and ate the forbidden fruit. Then she became the tempter and her husband was led to eat of the forbidden fruit. They disobeyed God’s command and instead of the glorious experience that Satan promised they became full of shame and had to cover their nakedness. Thus sin spread to the world. See Romans 5:12. Satan continues to make sin appear very attractive but in the end it bites likes a venomous snake leaving a deadly wound. Because of this we must live by every word of God (the Bible) and not let our senses be the guide. Just because something looks, feels, or seems to be good does not mean it necessarily is. We need to earnest pray that God keeps us from temptation and diligently study His Word (the Revelation of His will) that we may have an understanding on how to act and live. Man lost the garden of Eden by disobedience and will gain Paradise again only by obedience and faith in Christ our Savior.) (In Romans 8:23 we are told that the wages of sin is death and that the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 3:23 declares that all have sinned. (That includes you, and me, and every man, woman, and child that has every lived with Jesus being the only exception. He, fully human and fully divine, lived a perfect life in the flesh by the Spirit of God.) After Adam and Eve, the parents of the race, sinned they could only give to their offspring their fallen sinful natures. Thus everyone born after them has had the natural tendency to sin. We were born sinners and without Christ we would have no hope. Sin is what is natural to us and it is what is killing us. 1 John 3:4 states that sin is the transgression of the law and Jesus in Matthew 15:18,19 tells us this sin starts in the heart. The sin of the heart that is transmitted like a horrible disease from one generation to another is then manifested in rebellion against the law of God in every son of Adam. Unless we have a heart change (a new birth) we cannot overcome the sin problem. Sin is so deeply a part of us that we are in a desperate need of a Savior. For we cannot save ourselves from ourselves but praise the Lord with our consent and co-operation God can!) God’s Solution Isaiah 53:5,6 “He (Jesus) was ________________ for our ___________________. He was ________________ for our ___________________. The ____________________ for our ___________ was upon Him, and by His ______________ we are ____________. All we like ________ have gone ___________; we have ___________, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on ________ the _____________ of us all.” Romans 5:6-10 “For when we were still ___________ ____________, in due time ___________ died for the ___________. For scarcely for a _____________ man will one die; yet perhaps for a ________ man someone would even dare to ______. But ________ demonstrates His own _________ toward _____, in that while we were still ___________, Christ died for us! Much more having been ___________ by His _________, we shall be ___________ from _________ through Him. For if when we were _____________ we were _____________ to ________ through the ___________ of His _______, much more, having been _______________, we shall be __________ by His __________.” Romans 5:18,19 “Therefore, as through one man’s ___________ ______________ came to _____ men, resulting in ______________, even so through one _________ righteous act the ________ gift came to _____ men, resulting in ______________ of life. For if by one man’s ______________ many were made ___________, so also by one Man’s _____________ many will be _________ _____________.” (Praise the Lord! The death of Christ on the Cross-has brought salvation within the reach of every man, woman and child. God Himself has provided a way for forgiveness and restoration for fallen man. God Himself provided a cure for the terrible sin problem. Just as God killed a lamb in Genesis 3:21 to provide a covering for Adam and Eve to cover their shame so God sacrificed His own dear Son to provide an atonement (a cure) (a robe of righteousness) to cover our life and transform us. If accepted in faith and repentance the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. See also Romans 3:19-26, 31) (Warning! Do not make this decision below unless you consent to make Christ the Lord of your life. That means your loving master. He becomes in control of your life. When you surrender to Christ as Savior you also must accept Him as Lord. This is a full decision to give your life to Christ. This decision is the most important decision you will ever make, more important than marriage, and one in which there is only a turning back from only at infinite loss. God is merciful but He is also not a God to play games with. These games we play may cost us eternal life. God is looking for those who accept His wonderful grace and by it turn in heart and life from sin to live fully for Him every day of their life.) Do you understand in some part how horrible sin is?______________ Always remember my friend sin hurts Jesus. Sin hurts Jesus so much! It is what put Him on the cross and still causes Him and all heaven deep and horrible agony. Sin also degrades us and affects all those around us. It is like a sick, contagious cancer. Jesus died to set us free from sin (to provide a cure) so let us no longer live in it. Do you want to hurt Jesus any longer? ____________ If so decide today not to hurt him by not living in sin (by not living in violation to His beautiful and good commandments). Do you accept the death of Jesus Christ on Calvary as the atoning sacrifice for your sins, and believe that by God’s grace through faith in His shed blood you are saved from sin (and not in sin) and (from) its penalty (which is eternal death)? _________ Do you believe that God loves you with the deepness that you can never fully know and He wants to begin a forever friendship with you today?____________ Do you accept His initiative toward you in this love relationship?_____________ and by so doing Do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior believing that God, in Christ has forgiven you ___________ and given you a new heart, _________ and do you renounce the sinful ways of the world?_____________ About the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ In Christ’s life of perfect obedience to God’s will, His suffering, death, and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin. (This was done) so that those who by faith accept this atonement may have eternal life, and the whole creation may better understand the infinite and holy love of the Creator. This perfect atonement vindicates the righteousness of God’s law and the graciousness of His character; for it both condemns sin and provides for our forgiveness. The death of Christ is substitutionary (in our place) and expiatory (to pay for, put an end to), reconciling (bringing us back to relationship with God) and transforming (bringing us back into the image of God or the likeness of His character). The resurrection of Christ proclaims God’s triumph over the forces of evil. For those who accept it (with all their hearts), Christ’s atonement assures their final victory over sin and death. It declares the Lordship of Jesus Christ, before whom every knee in heaven and on earth will bow. For further study during the week John 3:16, Isaiah 53 1 Peter 2:21-25 1 Corinthians 15:1-5, 20-22 2Corinthians 5:14-21 Romans 1:4, 3:25, 4:25, & 8:3,4 1 John 2:2 & 4:10 Colossians 2:15 Philippians 2:5-11 About the Experience of Salvation In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God’s grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God’s sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God’s law of love in our hearts, and we are given power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgement. Galatians 1:3-5 & 4:4-7 Titus 3:3-7 John 16:8 Galatians 3:13,14 Luke 17:5 Romans 10:17 Mark 9:23,24 Ephesians 2:4-10 Romans 3:21-26 Galatians 3:26 John 3:3-8 1 Peter 1:22-25 Romans 12:2 Hebrews 8:10-12 Ezekiel 36:25-28 Remember hurrying is not the goal. These texts should only be studied as fast as they can be understood. They can be saved and studied at a future time. Here is a good principle in Bible Study “We should take one verse, and concentrate the mind on the task of ascertaining the thought which God has put in that verse for us. We should dwell on the thought until it becomes our own and we know what the Lord is saying.” paraphrased Desire of Ages Pg. 390 Just as it is good to relish and eat our food slowly likewise the Word of God is best digested and internalized when time and thought are given it. Blessings to you as you mediate and ponder on the goodness of God. Please write down below any notes, questions, or suggestions for improvement about this lesson. Thank you and God bless you richly!
